  • If the Black Triangle consumes everything that wanders into it, how did anyone figure out there are islands within it?
    • Well we've been shown that there are methods to resisting immense gravitational forces, and we see Rala, Love and Tack traveling on the surface of it. More likely than not, the Black Triangle does not truly absorb everything that goes into it like a black hole, but rather it is so deep that anything that goes in never comes out.
      • It is highly implied that it's not the Black Triangle's water per se doing the job, but Moon the Whale King devouring its prey.
  • How is Komatsu not considered the greatest chef in the world by now? He created a better century soup than Setsuno, one of the top chefs, he can cook practically anything no matter how dangerous it is, he managed to create an antidote to save the population of an entire city with a ten minute time limit, and ended up finishing it in five and using the rest of his time to try to make it taste good...
    • He does make it among the top 100 (88 I believe) by the time of the Cooking Festival arc. As for the accomplishments, it's implied that they were outstanding, but not unique: Setsuno did not know about the Wall Penguin, and both her and Yuda did figure out Komatsu's method upon inspecting the mochi.
    • Komatsu is an amazing chef, but at the time of the food festival he's still leagues behind Setsuno, Zaus or Yuda, and in fact he's still working for the IGO at that point. All others in the 100 ranking seem to own their own restaurants or chain of restaurants, or otherwise are outstanding in one particular field.
Komatsu is good, but I doubt he'd have even reached his ranking if it wasn't for so many talented chefs being kidnapped or recruited for the Bishokukai. His main strengths are his appreciation for food, his food luck and his ability to simplify complex cooking methods.Compared to people like Setsuno who removed radiation from crude oil chocolate, or Yuda who originally created the cure for a Gourmet world poison.

  • The extremely open ending of Toriko left a ton of things unexplained. In the final scene, Toriko wants to kill and eat a snake that is 80 million kilometers long and eats planets. The author does not bother explaining how is he going to fight the thing in vacuum, cook it and eat it. And the snake is not alone. There is also a mitarashi dango (skewered dumplings) made out of giant planets, and it's left to our wildest imaginations how the heck could Toriko and Komatsu eat that.
    • Serial Escalation gone out of control? Writers Have No Sense of Scale? or simply Shimabu wanted to imply that they came from the "Furthest Land" but was out of ideas and energies and so let the fans think of that themselves? You have to admit that Shimabu left many and many things unexplained by the end.
  • Based on the shown process of awakening one's Appetite Demon (eating AIR, PAIR, ANOTHER, NEWS, EARTH and ATOM, then manifesting it with GOD), all Four Heavenly Kings should have their Appetite Demons fully revived and running around as completely seperate physical beings, since they all ate the 6 basic ingredients and later GOD. However, the only Appetite Demon that was revived is Toriko's. How is that possible, when Coco, Sunny and Zebra were seen eating GOD at Toriko's wedding?
    • Could be that you also need to eat CENTER to fully revive your Appetite Demon.
    • Also, they were K.O. during the Climax and by the time they eat GOD at the wedding, there's no longer need to fight on Earth.
  • If Space was full of ingredients beyond anything on Earth, questions arises about their origin. Did they come out of Neo? Well, that doesn't make sense, since even at full power, Neo's Capture Level was around 22,000. The ingredients of Outer Space were from 3 times that to half a million and possibly more, there is no way Neo could defeat something so much powerful than him. Well, in that case, were they always there? So why weren't they ever mentioned? Why didn't Nitro say something like "Oh yeah, there are animals in the outer space that are tens of times stronger than Neo and anything here on Earth", or ever even mention the abundance of ingredients there.
    • It was shown that Neo and the Blue Nitro came from basically another dimension/galaxy, so I suppose there are plenty of galaxies and planets in the galaxy and beyond, originating from the Furthest Land. Still though, makes the entire manga sound silly when it turns out that the best ingredient ever in the series is surpassed by beings 6 times as difficult to catch, which are seemingly commonplace in the setting.
    • Remember, Capture Level doesn't equal tastier. Troll Kongs are higher than Galalagator but significantly less tasty.
  • Ok, just asking but... why did Midora assembled the Gourmet Corps in the first place? He's shown to be on par with Ichiryuu, capable of wandering around and eat pretty much anything and everything, has a power level that could allow him to level the entire Human World and pretty much everyone not named Ichiryuu, Jiro and Setsuno... and you want to imply that he needs people and chefs to find foods that can make his Gourmet Cells grow in the Human World? The same guy who used to eat Froese's food? If anything, having an enormous, world-spanning organization whose members are all much weaker than you are seems counterproductive, it's seems like he wanted to be hindered in his quest for the ultimate dish capable of satiating him, and he clearly's not one who needs a bodyguard. It doesn't help that it looks to me that the various members who aren't the Sous Chefs are Flat Character defined.

    • Gathering ingredients isn't the end of the process, there are people who need to cook them to bring out their best taste, like with the Nitro Cherry for example. The amount of chefs in the Bishokukai is down to just how big Midora's appetite is, and they even mention that his hunger is only growing the closer to the gourmet apocalypse they get.
  • I'm the only one bothered by the apparent penchant for Anti-Climax and Shrug of God shown by the author near the end of the series? After dedicating a whole arc about capturing AIR and PAIR, he pulls out the time-limit thing (Which to be honest I was expecting), but then as soon as Neo-Acacia appears, everything just... speeds up: Midora appears in Neo's HQ and pretty much flattens everyone like a Doom player on God Mode, pretty much all the villain safe from the important one (read: Acacia and Neo) are moved to the background, we're not shown the acquisition of NEWS, EARTH and ATOM and CENTER and everything focus on Toriko, Midora and Starjun vs Acacia (with Joie's role downgraded and the other Heavenly Kings made next-to useless. Now, are those conscious choices Shimabu made or were there secondary reasons such as health problems or decreasing popularity which forced him to end the story earlier?
  • In the Gourmet Corps, what's exactly the ranking? Early on is clear that we have Underlings (Bei, Zaiper, Dortha) then Base Chiefs (Barry, Bogey, Yuu, Elg etc) then Sous-Chefs and Chef. How do the Waiter, Sommelier and Executive Chefs (three of them at least) fits in all of this?
    • The Waiter acts a bridge between the customer and the chefs, so it's likely he's outside of the main chain of command similar to Jojo. Sommelier is likely close to or just below the sous-Chef, as the one to match drink to the food and atmosphere, and the Executive chefs are simply head-chefs who each have their own 'department.' Think of it like the head chef in a restaurant owned by Gordon Ramsey. He's in charge but if Gordon decides to drop in and cook something personally...
