Headscratchers / My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Holidays Unwrapped

  • It was assumed the cast started in 10th grade at earliest. But they've since gone through summer camp, the Fall play, summer jobs, and spring break in that order which is stated in this work. Are they in 13th grade? Is there anything that can rationalize the timeline?
    • The human CMC, who are stated as freshmen, seem younger than the 4 year age difference gap 9th graders would imply. Maybe high school here starts at what would be considered middle school in real life? (The writers RL terms don't necessarily apply here.) High school including 8th grader would buy the extra year needed no fix the timeline.
    • Maybe this is why they ended the series here? They've reached/passed the point where keeping them in high school can no longer be rationalized.
    • One thing is certain: the first four movies took place in one and the same school year, as Pinkie explicitely says in Legend of Everfree. Can we be sure, though, that the three specials mentioned above took place in that order in-universe? Maybe the summer jobs came before the Fall play or after the spring break?
    • My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Legend of Everfree is said to actually be a school trip so it could easily occur in spring. From there, My Little Pony: Equestria Girls – Forgotten Friendship occurs at the end of the school year beginning in the first film (10th), then summer jobs, spring break in 11th grade, and finally this special happening in senior year so that would place the series as occurring from 10th to 12th grade.
  • Why did Sunset get Twilight the stuffed Parakeet? Didn't they already win one/it at the end of Rollercoaster of Friendship?
    • It was a joke gift.
    • Alternatively, Twilight decided Sunset should keep that one since she did the throwing, and this is Sunset repaying the kindness.
  • What exactly did Applejack want to accomplish by lifting the school off its foundations? All of the lockers still would have been inside. And the people in the building probably would have gotten crushed by the suddenly fallen furniture and other equipment.
  • Though it was a throwaway joke, looking at it from a realistic perspective: Why would Rainbow Dash hide inside a snowman for two days rather than get in on the action right away using her speed? It could have seemed like a good idea at the time, but you'd think she'd have quickly backed out as soon as she was bored, cold, hungry, and/or had to go to the bathroom. And even if she was so determined to do this sneak attack that she was willing to put up with boredom, cold, hunger, and wet snowpants (unless Rule of Funny made all nonexistent, as she shows no signs of cold or fatigue), she completely ruined it by loudly shouting "Sneak attack! Bet you weren't expecting this!" before throwing the snowball.
  • The above implies that the snowball fight was planned at least two days in advance, so Pinkie should have known when the snowball fight was and been excited to take part in it. So why did she choose this time and day to get Rarity's souffle to her?
