  • In Life Born of Fire, the victim is stated to have gone to a "cure the gay away"-type counseling group called The Garden with the intention of using it for couples therapy in his (gay) relationship. How does that even work? Was the counseling group masquerading as a couple's therapy group to try to trick people? That seems a bit intense? Or was he just really eager for some kind of therapy? I can't wrap my head around that one, sorry everybody.
    • It seemed to be more that it was a genuine help group that was taken over by more extreme people. Will and his boyfriend went there for help and the extremists tried to 'cure' them. Thanks to the problems that Will and his boyfriend (can't spell his name) already had this blew up in their faces. Britian has a much harder line on 'cure your gays groups' in that a very small amount of people think it works, they are not trusted and are scrutinized more than America. If it had started as a 'cure you gays group' it would have very hard for the group to put as much pressure on Will as they seemed to have done.
    • It seems like Will went there as informal couple counselling, and the group was publicly presenting itself as more a Christian-themed self-help/discussion group (it's noted in the episode that they're fairly secretive about what they actually did). By the time it became obvious what kind of group they really was (it wasn't extremists taking over; The Garden's founders were the same people involved when Will was there), he was already indoctrinated enough to not just leave, especially after Hathaway pushed him back.

  • How come in Inspector Morse and since Series 5 of Endeavour the police force that covers Oxford is called the Thames Valley Police (which it is in reality), but in Lewis it is the fictional Oxfordshire Police?
    • I’m not sure but it’s probably has something to do with Producers not being able to get permission from Thames Valley Police to use the name in the show when they were filming. As to as why Endeavour is allow to use it despite being filmed after Lewis, I guess it would have something to do with continuity to the original Inspector Morse show, a different person in charge of Thames Valley who didn’t mind it being used, and the fact it’s a prequel that is set in the past, and therefore has no bearing on the present day force, and how they operate.
