• How are Walker and Church the only two people left on the entire planet qualified to oversee the operation? There has been world peace for only twenty years, which should leave you with plenty of highly qualified former military and intelligence agency leaders who are still around. I can see some of those people going to the Cabal, but hardly all of them.
  • To quote the intro, "they made sure of it". The blink-and-you-miss-it implication is that those who survived the war have been exterminated in a case of Utopia Justifies the Means.
  • Which has a little Fridge Horror in it as well. If this society thinks you MIGHT be a problem later, they killed you instead of just letting you retire. This is the only instance that suggests that this Utopia may not be all that it's cracked up to be. That and their State Sec policies.
  • There is also the possibility that the Last War was just that brutal. Or they were the only ones qualified and were able to adjust to the radical shift of everything.
