Headscratchers / Future Card Buddyfight

Go To

  • Why the hell was Tesuku using that Gold Ritter card treated like such a bad thing, when several episodes later, we see Jack A-Okay, albeit in a fighting arena? The way it was treated was like Jack would have been permanently reduced to a mindless item.
    • The anime seems to have flip-flopped on this. It was stated when Tasuku used Gold Ritter that it would turn Jack into a mindless weapon, and implied that this change would be permanent, but then indeed a few episodes later, Jack's just fine. It's possible that the mindless weapon thing was misdirection from Kyoya, but then as far as I remember, Jack himself seemed to know something bad would happen if Tasuku used the card. It might possibly be bad dubbing.
      • Its also possible that Jack and Tasuku simply didn't know that the process was reversible at the time.
  • Axia leaves to find a human to partner up with. Kiri is right in the room, has no Buddy, and is still experimenting with decks and Worlds. Does he just hate Kiri or what?
    • It was probably more for the sake of the writers than anything else. Axia becoming Kiri's buddy would have had some major implications once Kiri joined Disaster, and furthermore once his status as an Omni Lord was revealed. Granted, I personally think that would have made for an engaging subplot with Joker having to deal with Axia directly in order to become Kiri's buddy, but mayhaps the creators of the show just didn't want to move the plot in that direction. Either that, or they just determined that Axia wasn't important enough for it.
  • I'm confused as to the Rouga/Wolf thing. Ever since becoming Wolf, Rouga wears his hair long and has the same Buddy, Dark core and outfit as Wolf. But they still call him Rouga. Did they just forget about the secret identity thing?
    • Not so much "forgot" as "not ready to bring it up". Sure enough, it's brought up again when the story was ready for it to be.
  • Why is Drum in C Gi most of the time? It clashes with most of the anime and looks off-model most of the time. I could understand since there would be budgeting issues. But it REALLY stands out in Hundred, when he's the only one rendered in C Gi among the Team Shot.
    • My best guess is that, once it was decided that they'd need to have Drum be CG at least sometimes, they decided to go for consistency rather than only do it when they needed to, by just showing in-fight Drum as CG all the time to at least make it look like a deliberate stylistic choice. It may very well have been a budget thing, considering that Drum is a main character and a Buddy monster, so there would inevitably be a ton of scenes with him fighting. Same deal with Jack, Bal, and a lot of the other prominent buddies.
  • Genma says that Shido, deep down, really wants to have friends. This revelation isn't denied but it isn't really brought up after this. So does Shido really want friends and simply ignored this, or was Genma just wrong?
  • If Shido hates Death Gallows so much, why hasn't he gotten himself a new Buddy? He's used different ones before, and Kyoya could have given him a new one at any time.
  • Why did they switch out the Anime's English dub for Japanese halfway through season 2, only to switch back to English in a later season!? Are they testing us or something!? This troper didn't start watching the show for this!
  • Why did the people cheer when Kyoya got done decrying The Evils of Free Will!? They should have been anywhere between angry, scared, saddened, and threatened to the point booing the pointy-haired bastard, but instead they're all hip hip hooray for the Hitler-esque archetype! Was it their proximity to the Dark Cores they were holding!?
