Headscratchers / Braun Strowman

Go To

  • Braun could destroy Brock Lesnar every time they fought starting at SummerSlam 2017 but when he faces Brock at No Mercy 2017 for the WWE Universal Title he gets beaten by Lesnar in 9 minutes after just one F-5. This is despite the fact every other time he and Lesanr fought since SummerSlam Braun easily destroyed Brock, who had to pin someone else at both SummerSlam and Royal Rumble 2018 to narrowly escape with his title. Why would it be different here?
    • Braun got the better of Brock in very short instances, never consistently and never in a full, one-on-one match. As such, Brock's ability to survive high-powered offense over the course of an entire match (and Braun's inability to do the same) was the difference, befitting Brock's experience advantage.

If you watch the match, it went the way most of their previous clashes did— Braun's power overwhelmed Lesnar's attempted offense, and he even no-sold the first German Suplex, leading to Brock taking a beating for a few moments. But after Strowman's initial flurry, Brock took over after Braun missed a shoulder tackle in the corner. After that, Lesnar wore him down with a Kimura, and then at that point, he was weakened enough for a trip to Suplex City, and thus weakened enough to be pinned by an F5, which Strowman had never really proven he could survive— he'd just been able to avoid getting hit by it until Brock had a whole match to wear him down.
