  • August 28Julian : Norwegian nobleman Knut Alvsson is killed under terms of safe conduct in Oslo. His body is brought in to the great hall at the fortress of Akershus, where an assembly of other nobles swear revenge. A 15-year-old girl, Inger, daughter of Otte Römer, pushes her way trough the crowd and swears her own revenge alongside the grown men. (Lady Inger at Austraat)


  • Remilia Scarlet born. (Touhou)
  • Frustrated at every turn by Ezio Auditore's growing force of Assassins, and successful sabotage and takeover of Rome, Cesare Borgia assaults his sister/lover Lucrezia and murders his father, Master Templar Pope Alexander VI. Soon after, Ezio drives Cesare completely from Rome. In a failed attempt to reclaim the city, Cesare is promptly arrested and imprisoned by the papal forces of Pope Julius II.   • Ezio Auditore tracks down Cesare Borgia to the Siege of Viana in Spain. In disgrace, Cesare is now a mercenary in employ of his brother-in-law, King John III of Navarre. After a fight on ramparts, Ezio gains the upper hand and goes to kill Cesare, who declares that he is not fated to "Die at the hands of man." Declaring that he will then leave Cesare "To the hands of Fate," Ezio throws him off the castle wall to his death. (Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood)

  • Peabody and Sherman lead Vasco de Balboa to the Pacific Ocean so he can discover it; when they get there, they discover that English explorer Sir Augustus Coney was ahead of them, so they have to buy him off with a map of a small island in New York Harbor that he can name after himself.   • Mecca sacked by the Byzantines. The Ka'aba is destroyed along with the rest of the city and its population is butchered. Emperor Skantarios decrees that only Orthodox Christians may henceforth enter the city. (I Am Skantarios)



  • Peabody and Sherman arrange for Magellan to win a bullfight, thereby allowing him to pay his butcher's bill and sail around the world. (Rocky and Bullwinkle)

  • Two Spanish idiots arrive in Guatemala ahead of Hernán Cortés. They discover El Dorado, the City of Gold, and trick the natives into thinking they are gods. Hilarity Ensues, although the events following their arrival lead to the city becoming impossible to find for anyone after them. (The Road to El Dorado)


  • The Spanish sea captain Vasco de Bizarro makes a wrong turn while sailing his banana boat to India. He lands on Barf Rock, located (presumably) somewhere in North America, and stays just long enough to leave behind a shipload of rotten bananas. Centuries later, the citizens of Bizarroville honor their founder with their annual Have-a-Banana festival. (Reading Blaster Ages 9-12)



  • Fr. Esteban Negron, a Spanish missionary, reports zombification among natives in Mexico. He attributes it to devil worship. (The Zombie Survival Guide)


  • On planet Zeist, there is a rebellion against the rule of General Katana. The rebellion is quickly crushed, and the leaders sentenced to be killed on Zeist and reborn on Earth as the immortals Ramirez and Connor MacLeod. (Highlander II: The Quickening more )
  • Ezio Auditore passes away quietly on a bench in Florence at the age of 65. (Assassin's Creed: Embers)


  • Cassia Marsilka becomes the Slayer. (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)
  • Death of Jacob Fugger. He leaves the family bank to his nephew Anton. Anton would, however, lose a lot of money lending to warmongering kings in America who don't pay their debts properly and end up liquidating the business and distributing the proceeds among his wider family.   • Cassia Marsilka becomes a vampire by Cyrus the Gladiator and goes on a sociopathic rampage. (Buffy the Vampire Slayer)


  • Lady Inger at Austraat is tricked by Danish noble Niels Lykke to kill her own son, Nils Stensson, by default. (Lady Inger at Austraat)



  • After being warped from 250,000,000 BCE, the Turtles find themselves on board a pirate ship. After making their way aft, they find and fight Captain Rocksteady and First Mate Bebop. They are then warped to 1885. (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time)



  • Emperor Skantarios slays Pope Nicolaus IV the Missionary in single combat before capturing Rome for the Byzantine Empire. (I Am Skantarios)

  • The Baldricks enter the service of the Blackadder noble family. (Blackadder II)


  • English sailor Christopher Walker, the son of the ship's captain, is the only survivor of an attack by the Singh Brotherhood pirates off the coast of Bengala. He is rescued by the native Bandar tribe, and nursed back to health, and soon after finds the body of his father's killer washed up on the beach. On the skull of his fathers murderer, Walker swears the solemn "Oath Of the Skull", vowing to eradicate injustice and piracy wherever he finds it, and dons the mask of the first Phantom. His descendants follow him for 20 generations. (The Phantom)

  • Connor MacLeod is slain by the Kurgan, but revives. He is banished by the fearful people of his hometown. (Highlander)
  • Umberto Fulcanelli moves to Mexico to escape the Spanish Inquisition. Soon after, he invents the Cronos Device, making himself into an immortal vampire. (Cronos)

  • Cervantes de Leon obtains the Soul Edge, begins 20-year reign of terror. Rock Adams, who was a passenger on the ship carrying it, washes up on the shore of the New World and befriends Bangoo of the Apache nation. (Soul Blade)

  • The Eleventh Doctor takes Amy and Rory on a date in Venice, as a wedding present. Vampires more  ensue. (Doctor Who)
  • Peabody and Sherman save Sir Walter Raleigh's career (and head) by recovering his sunken cargo and then inventing saltwater taffy. (Rocky and Bullwinkle)


  • October: Pope Gregory XIII implements the Gregorian calendar, replacing the Julian calendar which is eleven days slower. October 4 is immediately followed by October 15. (Real Life) However, the Pope does not realize that he miscalculated by one hour. The lost hour slips free and bounces through eternity. A paladin of the lost hour is appointed to ensure that it does not run out and cause the entire universe to be engulfed in darkness. (The Twilight Zone (1985))
  • The Jedi notice that the Force has begun to "flux", and fear that the dark side is growing again. (Star Wars)
  • Samanosuke destroys the Genma army and goes to Honnō-ji Temple for his final battle with Oda Nobunaga. Circumstances soon lead to him being sent to the year 2004. (Onimusha 3: Demon Siege)



  • September 3: Astaroth is created at the Grand Shrine of Palgaea. (SoulCalibur)
  • Cervantes de Leon is killed by Sophitia Alexandra, and Inferno defeated by Taki. Siegfried Schtauffen claims the remains of one of the blades, becoming Nightmare. Fragments of the Soul Edge are scattered across the world. (Soul Blade)

  • English settlers on Roanoke Island flee from a zombie incursion. (The Zombie Survival Guide)

  • August 6:
    • The English fleet defeats the Spanish Armada. (Real Life)
    • The Spanish Armada conquers England. Queen Elizabeth I is deposed and imprisoned in the Tower of London. England is forcibly converted to Catholicism by its new queen Isabella, the daughter of King Philip II of Spain. The country remains under Spanish occuption until a successful uprising in 1598.     • [Alternate Universe] the Spanish Armada succeeds in conquering England. By the 2090s, the Spanish Empire stretches to the borders of Russia. (Crosstime Traffic)

  • September 13: Birth of Patroklos to Sophitia and Rothion Alexander in Athens. (Soul Calibur V)
  • Arthur, under the influence of a fragment of Soul Edge, kills his wife and young son. He vows to destroy the evil sword. (Soul Calibur III)
  • Archibald Fritton steals a shipment of treasure from Lord Pomfrey, who had intended to use it to bring down Queen Elizabeth I. more  (St. Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold)


  • An unknown calamity befalls the colony on Roanoke Island and the settlers disappear without a trace. (Real Life)
    • The demonic Andre Linoge forces all the settlers to drown themselves in the sea when they refuse to hand over a child for him to raise as his successor. (Storm of the Century)
    • Roanoke is sealed inside a timeless pocket dimension by Virginia Dare to contain a plague released by The Horseman Pestilence. (The Legend of Sleepy Hollow)
    • The Roanoke settlers are visited by the dethroned king of the Sheeda, the descendants of humanity from the distant future. He interbreeds with them, and convinces them to relocate to a mystical underground realm where they found a new society heavily based on magic. (DC Comics)
    • The settlers move inland to avoid a harsh winter. Tomasyn White becomes possessed by a pagan witch and sacrifices the rest of the settlers, with the land they died on becoming cursed and haunted by their spirits. (American Horror Story: Roanoke)


  • Heather dies of old age; Connor MacLeod decides to travel the world. (Highlander)
  • John White finally returns to Roanoke Island after three years, only to discover it completely abandoned, with the only clue being the word "Croatan" carved into a tree. The settlers are never seen again. (Real Life)


  • August 3: Birth of Natsu in Izumo. (SoulCalibur V)
  • Summer: Once again, various warriors seek the Soul Edge. Nightmare defeats Raphael Sorel in a duel, but the Soul Edge is damaged, allowing Siegfried to separate from Nightmare. Siegfried claims the Soul Calibur. (SoulCalibur II)
  • Autumn: Battles for the Soul swords heat up again. Soul Edge and Soul Calibur clash once more, causing a huge explosion. Zasalamel does not gain the death he sought, and instead decides to try and improve the world. (SoulCalibur III)
  • Winter: Yet more battles over the Soul swords. Soul Edge and Soul Calibur are (apparently) destroyed at this time. (SoulCalibur IV)
  • Winter: Sultan Murad III's court miniaturists are working on a book the Sultan intends to gift to European emissaries. One of the miniaturists is murdered. (My Name Is Red)
  • Christopher Belmont hunts Dracula again to save his son. (Castlevania II: Belmont's Revenge)


  • December 21/22: Birth of Duncan MacLeod in Glenfinnan, Scotland. He is a foundling child, born on the winter solstice. Fortunately for him, Ian and Mary MacLeod have a stillborn son at about the same time. The midwife replaces the dead baby with the living one. Ian knows his son is adopted but keeps it secret for the time being. (Highlander: The Series)
  • Sherman helps Galileo get into the Tower of Pisa, incidentally setting off a gas explosion that makes it lean. (Peabody, being in bed with distemper, remains in the present day.) (Rocky and Bullwinkle)

  • June 23: William Shakespeare, along with his troupe, repay his debt to Dream by performing A Midsummer Night's Dream to an audience of fairies before their departure from mortal realm. (The Sandman)
  • July 7: Birth of Yan Leixia to Chai Xianghua and Yan Wujin in Luoyang. (SoulCalibur V)



  • August: Sir Walter Raleigh returns to England after exploring South America. (Real Life) In a blatant display of spite, Lord Edmund Blackadder announces his forthcoming venture around the notorious Cape of Good Hope. (Blackadder II)



  • Death of Markus Fugger, last known person to have central authority over the historical Fugger bank. Regardless, the brand survives and holds financial sway into the 21st century. (The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O.)


  • Three Carrionites break through into Elizabethan England. more  (Doctor Who)
  • Lord Blackadder's exploration party finally returns to England, just in time for Edmund to discover that the Queen has gone right off her love of exploration. (Blackadder II)


  • The Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones meet William Shakespeare and prevent a Carrionite invasion. more  (Doctor Who)
  • V.I.L.E. agent Medeva time-travels to this year to steal Shakespeare's plays. ACME agents successfully restore history and capture Medeva. (Carmen Sandiego's Great Chase Through Time)


  • Approximate date that a meteor containing Glaaki crashes into the Severn Valley. (Cthulhu Mythos)
  • Approximate date that Diane de Moriamis leaves Averoigne on Earth for Nouvelle Averoigne in Mystara (local year 1012 AC).justification  (Dungeons & Dragons: Mystara)

16th Century

  • Queen Elizabeth I of Britannia bears a child, Henry IX, out of wedlock, with the father being either Sir Robert Dudley, 1st Earl of Leicester; Sir Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex; or Sir Carl, Duke of Britannia. (Code Geassnote )
  • Marcus Octavius and Colin MacLeod take part in a series of conflicts raging across Japan]], but their only recorded duel is inconclusive. (Highlander: The Search for Vengeance)
  • On a battlefield in Japan, Marcus Octavius discovers Kyala, a new immortal. He decides not to decapitate her, and she becomes his student and lover for centuries. (Highlander: The Search for Vengeance)
  • Queen Elizabeth I is assassinated at Richmond Palace by Prince Ludwig of Bavaria, as are the Lords Blackadder, Percy and Melchett note . Presumably, the Prince is able to conceal his crime and assume her identity for the remainder of "her" reign. Unsurprisingly, no marriages or offspring result. (Blackadder II)
  • Jizonobu, a Buddhist monk in Japan, makes a desperate bargain with the Kami of darkness to cure the daughter of a local nobleman. The child is cured, but in return, Jizonobu becomes possessed by a demonic entity calling itself Jei that slaughters almost all the monks of Jizonobu's temple along with the nobleman, sparing only the child because he deems her an "innocent". Dubbing himself "The Sword Of the Gods", Jei carves a swathe of atrocities across Japan, claiming he is eradicating evil, despite his killings being almost indiscriminate. Miyamoto Usagi becomes the student of reclusive hermit and master swordsman Katsuichi. Over the next decade, Katsuichi molds Usagi into one of the greatest swordsmen of his generation. Upon reaching adulthood, Usagi becomes a samurai under the benevolent Lord Mifune. (Usagi Yojimbo)

     1601 C.E. - 1650 C.E. 
Early 17th century
  • Chris and Martin Kratt, plus Koki, time-travel to Mauritius during this era, where they meet the now-extinct dodo. They also observe (without being seen) the explorer ancestor of their villain Gourmand. (Wild Kratts)
  • Miyamoto Usagi is one of the few survivors of the Battle of Adachi Plain between the scheming Lord Hikiji and Usagi's master Lord Mifune. Mifune is betrayed by one of his commanders, Buchi Toda, and is killed in the battle. Usagi cuts off his masters head and flees the field, later burying it in the mountains to keep Hikiji from displaying it as a trophy. Now masterless, Usagi begins to wander the land as a ronin.   • September 6: The murder of King Hamlet at the hand of his brother, Claudiusjustification . (Hamlet)
  • October 4: King Claudius and Queen Gertrude's wedding. (Hamlet)
  • A Manx adventurermore  arrives at the Old Tearsheet Brewery in Southwark, London (, England). He attempts to subtly persuade Sir Edward Greylock to invest in the East India Trading Company. Good thing neither of them knew about the business with Davy Jones' heart that would follow around 140 years later. Spoiler timeline  (The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O.)


  • January 5: Hamlet proves (at least to himself) that Claudius killed his father. He is sent to England. (Hamlet)
  • February 13: Ophelia dies (possibly by suicide). (Hamlet)
  • February 14: Hamlet returns to Denmark after being banished and kills his mother, his uncle, and himself. (Hamlet)
  • The Age of Marvels begins centuries ahead of schedule. Queen Elizabeth I is assassinated by Latveria. King James I ascends to the throne. (Marvel 1602)


  • March 24:

  • Tokugawa Ieyasu becomes the first Shogun of Japan, and establishes the Tokugawa shogunate. (Real Life) Some versions of the story include the presence of Mons, but the accuracy of these is highly disputable.

  • Patroklos Alexander wins his first sword tournament. Rothion falls ill at this time and tells Patroklos the truth about the Soul Edge. (SoulCalibur V)


  • Duncan MacLeod enters the supposedly haunted Donan Woods on a dare. He is confronted by a wolf but rescued by the legendary "Witch of Donan Woods", who turns out to be Cassandra, an immortal. Fortunately, she is interested in his well-being. (Highlander: The Series)
  • Dracula comes across "Blood Countess" Elizabeth Bathory, whom he strikes an alliance with. (Dracula Lives! #4)


  • A ship carrying British settlers from the Virginia Company sail to North America to find gold. (Pocahontas)
  • Nightmare is reborn as Graf Dumas, who gains control of Hungary and manipulates various people, notably Patroklos and Pyrrha Alexandra, into reiving Soul Edge. (SoulCalibur V)
  • Richard Maynarde is born. (Doctor Who)


  • Restored Soul Edge and Soul Calibur clash for the fifth time. (SoulCalibur V)


  • The Master turns a dying prostitute in the Colony of Virginia into a vampire. She later becomes known as Darla. (Angel)


  • Jaunuary 23: A group of English colonists from Jamestown, searching for food, find a mysterious staircase. (House of Leaves)
  • Countess Erzebet Bathory is discovered to have been murdering young women (no references to Blood Baths in the witness accounts). Her servants are killed as accomplices to her atrocities, and she is imprisoned.
  • Cure Ange arrives on Earth, establishes the Precure Palace, enabling the creation of Pretty Cure on Earth (HeartCatch Pretty Cure!)
