  • Near the beginning, while Chard is working on his bridge, he ends up having to jump into the river in full uniform to save a section of the bridge that is drifting away. His men start to laugh at the sight of their commanding officer floundering the water. Chard shouts to Corporal Allen to get the men in the water. So he pushes them in.
    Allen: "You heard that officer of engineers."
