  • Sheldon retorts and insults Georgie for claiming that he's adopted.
    Georgie: Admit it. He's adopted.
Sheldon: How can I be adopted when I have a twin sister? Think, monkey, think.
    Mary: No one's adopted!
    Missy: I wish I was.
  • Sheldon is looking forward to finally getting to high school, but is oblivious about high school culture.
Sheldon: High school's a haven for higher learning
    George Sr.: Oh dear lord.
  • Dinnertime turns into a food fight between Missy and Georgie while Mary tries to discipline them, and George does nothing.
Adult!Sheldon: Jane Goodall had to go to Africa to study apes...I just had to go to dinner.
  • Mary forces Sheldon to play outside. His response is to lethargically push a tire swing and say, "There. I played."
  • Sheldon innocently asking his mother when will he get testicles during a church sermon.
Adult Sheldon: And for the record, they descended when I was fifteen.
  • While Sheldon and Mary are looking for Sheldon's homeroom, Sheldon points to a girl says as if he was telling his mother to look at this interesting animal, "Hey, Mom, look. That girl's pregnant." Mary's response is to lead Sheldon away and offer a congratulations to the pregnant teen.
  • It's only been less than a day, and already Sheldon's teachers can't stand him.
  • The dramatic irony of a young Sheldon being comforted that no matter what Radio Shack will always be here when audiences know that today Radio Shack is practically bankrupt.

Episode 2 Rockets, Communists, and the Dewey Decimal System
  • As Young!Sheldon looks in disgust at his brother shoving grapes in his mouth, Adult!Sheldon gives us this gem: "Jean-Paul Sarte said, 'Hell is other people.' That's humorous because it's true."
  • Sheldon's very awkward friendship beta test on his dad
    Sheldon: Hello George.
    George: What?
Sheldon: I do admire your thick head of hair...George.
George: very awkwardly Thanks. What's going on?
Sheldon: Well, I'm practicing the principles in this book.
    George: very awkwardly Why?
Sheldon: Well I know Mom is concerned that I don't have any friends so I'm determined to remedy the situation.
    George: Oh.
    Sheldon:...George.
    George: Good for you.
Sheldon: Do you feel complimented when I say your name George? The book says you should...George.
George: I suppose. Kind of overdoing it a little...Sheldon.
Sheldon: Well thank you for your criticism. It also says I should praise any improvements that you've made.
    George: Well, ok.
    Sheldon:...I'll get back to you...George.
  • Sheldon then goes on to try and make friends with his teenage classmates. Awkward Hilarity Ensues.
  • After failing to make friends with his classmates, he tracks down every previous borrower of the book in hopes of making a friend who happen to be his teachers who do nothing but rant about their failures with the book while Sheldon acts as a sounding board.
  • Mary's attempts to be welcoming to Tam make her out to be an Innocent Bigot.
  • The Coopers awkward questions about Tam's story.
  • Mary's failed attempt at turning Tam's story into An Aesop.
Tam: Finally, we were allowed to come to the United States and start over in Galveston. My father saved money and bought his own shrimp boat.
Mary: There's a happy ending, huh? See kids when the going gets tough, America provides.
Tam: It did until the Klu Klux Klan burned our boat and chased us away.
George: You're gonna put a good spin on that one?
  • The awkward silence the Cooper family feels after listening to Tam's depressing story.
    Sheldon: Well that was depressing.
  • The infamous FBI story told in The Big Bang Theory is finally played out. Even better, as the FBI, George, and Mary walk through the house, a rocket enters through the open, flies in front of them, crashes through a window, and hits a car.

Episode 3 Poker, Faith, and Eggs
  • Missy is dressed up like George Michael and is strumming and singing along to his song "Faith".
  • Constance encourages Sheldon to lie to his mother.
Sheldon: I can't lie to my mother.
Constance: Sure you can. Believe in yourself!
  • Georgie drives himself and his siblings to the hospital. However, he is a 14-year-old boy whose only experience is driving a tractor while sitting on the farmer's lap, and it shows. He keeps hitting trash cans and at one point gets lost with Missy snarking at him the entire time. He hits so many trash cans that Constance, who discovered the theft at most an hour later, makes it to the hospital first.
Adult!Sheldon: I've often been asked why I never learned to drive a car. This night [Georgie hits some trash cans] is your answer.
  • When the Cooper siblings believe they are caught red handed by a cop, it leads to an argument on who's going to jail.
Sheldon: Oh no, we're going to jail.
Missy: Georgie's going to jail. I'm saying I was kidnapped.
Sheldon: That's a good plan. You and I were kidnapped.
Georgie: If I'm going to jail, we're all going to jail.
  • Sheldon's brief moment of faith in God is ruined the next day, when he and his family get violently sick from eating Billy's eggs.

Episode 4 A Therapist, a Comic Book, and a Breakfast Sausage

  • Sheldon's thoughts as he's choking.
Adult Sheldon: It's interesting what goes through your mind as life is leaving your body. Like linoleum. Is it some form of plastic? And how is it different from formica? And Count Chocula. How did he get that title? Did it come with land?
  • The kids at school laughing about Sheldon choking on a sausage. Even funnier is Adult Sheldon (who, bear in mind, has had coitus with Amy many times) saying that he still doesn't know why they laughed.

  • Sheldon's opening monologue about Texan's love of beef.
Adult!Sheldon: The average American consumes 55 pounds of beef per year. And then there's Texas, where we can knock that off in a couple of months. Maybe faster if we're talking about smoked brisket. Curiously, the one cut of beef that Texans and Jews agree upon.
  • Constance's first fake brisket recipe for George is a note that reads "Keep dreaming, Tubby!" Mary reads the note and laughs.
  • "You two are such stubborn... donkey butts!"
  • The second fake recipe, which requires George to go to New Orleans to buy coffee from Café Dumont and "Holy Ghost root" (aka angelica) from a voodoo priestess, and cooking it for fourteen hours. It was all an elaborate prank, and a way for Constance to get expensive coffee.
    • The somber, resigned expression George makes when he samples his brisket. You can hear him thinking, "Uh-huh. I've been had."
  • After Missy blows on Sheldon's train whistle: "Now I have to throw that out."
  • The fact that Sheldon is able to remember Constance telling him her brisket recipe, even though it happened when he was 23 months old.

  • Tam's painfully desperate and awkward attempts to flirt with Libby, who couldn't be less interested.

Especially when George Sr. mentions he didn't realize that Libby was black. When Georgie asks why that matters, his father quickly backtracks and gets extremely flustered.
