• Novalee carrying that buckeye tree in its coffee pot around town for six weeks.
• Novalee has three alarms set up in the Wal-Mart, each set up so she can only reach them as she sits up (she is pregnant, after all).
• Novalee keeps a journal of all the things she takes from the Wal-Mart so she can pay it all back later.
• Sister Husband, just in general
  • Her prayer in front of Novalee:
  "Dear Lord, we ask that you bless this food to the nourishment of our bodies. And we ask forgiveness, Lord, for the fornication that Mr. Sprock and me committed this morning."
  • Repeated later, with addendum "on this very table".
  • When she and Mr. Sprock plant Novalee's buckeye tree, his emphysema acts up and makes him wheeze. Novalee is concerned, but not Sister Husband.
  "You know, he always makes that sound when he exerts himself."
  • Her "Welcome Woman" pickup truck with the covered-wagon style attachment.
  • Admitting to Novalee that she used a few spaces in the welcome basket planners, but if Novalee's not in AA then she'll know those meetings aren't for her.
  • When being interviewed by the police after Americus has been abducted, the sheriff asks if she might have any enemies at the AA meetings who might want to hurt her.
  "Harry, we're alcoholics. Mostly we're just satisfied to hurt ourselves."
  • Putting a metal bowl on Americus's head for the tornado.
• YMMV, but Novalee's realization - while in labor - that she'd ended up in Aisle 5 before crawling away.
• Novalee takes the "Welcome Woman" truck in to get the brakes checked and hits an oil barrel.
• The country music swelling when Novalee meets the cute mechanic at Murray's Garage.
• Novalee telling Lexie she might be pregnant again:
  Lexie: "Didn't he use anything?"
  Novalee: "...me...?"
• Lexie tells Novalee that a Gypsy woman said to jump backwards nine times before sunset and you won't get pregnant. Cut to Novalee jumping backwards across the lawn in fluffy pink slippers.
• At the library, Novalee is talking to Forney when she runs to the bathroom. He nervously practices having a conversation when Novalee starts yelling "Yes! Thank you LORD!" from the bathroom, much to Forney's confusion (the implication is that she just started her period, i.e. isn't pregnant as she'd been worrying). Then she comes out.
  Forney: "...Things went well?"
  Novalee: "You bet!"
• After describing the greaser types of men she's done with to the decidedly dorky Forney, there's a glimmer of hope...right before Novalee declares being done with men for good.
• Forney and Novalee run into a pregnant (number five!) Lexie while shopping for a Christmas tree. Apparently the father of this one ran off on her, too, taking her fancy pillows with him.
  Forney: "Why would a man on a Harley steal a woman's pillows?"
  Novalee: "Because he could, I guess."
• Ruth Meyers. Just...Ruth Meyers.
  Ruth: "Jesus Christ, another guitar player. So what's your name?"
  Willy Jack: "Willy Jack Pickens."
  Ruth: "You didn't even have to make that up, did you?"
  • She makes Willy get skin treatments and highlights, then hands him a roll of quarters.
  Willy: "Spending money?"
  Ruth: *looks directly at his crotch*
  • Willy's cleaned-up look and his first concert at a bar. First his guitarist takes a chair to the face, then he nearly gets beaned with a beer bottle.
• Novalee is hired for a wedding and the only photo shown from it is the bride getting punched square in the face.
• "Brownie! Do not lasso your sister!"
• Mr. Sprock only wanting one thing from Sister's estate: that old kitchen table.
• Novalee is taking the official photo for the local baseball team, which is made up of overweight, middle-aged men. After a second of thought, she decides that tucking in their shirts was a bad idea. The team is more than happy to oblige the change.
  • Novalee then asks if there's a championship banner or something that should be included, and they admit they're just celebrating that they made it through the season.
