Funny / Vault Hunters Wanted

Go To

According to Word of God, this story is mainly a humor-based story. It often shows.

  • Chapter 3. The main characters have only been through a brief fight and they already are snarking with each other.
    • The interactions with Gaige and the Captain are hilarious, mainly because they both constantly one-up the other.
  • Chapter 9. Meeting Not-So-Tiny Tina. Highlights include the fact her "list" is simply salad and cookies, or when she gives Dion a Marshmallow Hell upon first meeting him. And then nearly killing him. Then trying to shake him awake until he puked. Then realizing she was straddling him and causing him to get extremely embarrassed. Really, Tina and Dion are a gold mine.
    • The tea party immediately afterwards milk Tina's hilarity as much as possible. The fact that Tina can't stop calling Dion short just makes it even funnier.
  • Chapters 24 and 25. They finally meet Krieg and while his sane persona (named Friedan) is now mostly in control, the brief madness exposes itself. often hilariously.
  • Chapter 26. At that point is when the Vault Hunters really start becoming friends. Highlights include:
    • Dion and Baldemar trying to one-up each other with snark and then resorting to bragging about how they got kicked out of schools (Baldemar ripped someone's legs off for sexually assaulting a girl while Dion melted a kid's face).
    • Dion saying he vaporized ten cats, three dogs, fifteen birds and an ostrich. He explains the ostrich was at a petting zoo (Baldemar even lampshades what kind of person would put an ostrich in a petting zoo).
    • Dion and Baldemar arguing over dogs and cats. The fact that both of their animals had names to indicate they had killed another creature (Pussykiller ate a cat, G-Force ate a hamster) was even more hilarious
    • And then SAPRUS gets in on it of all people, saying he LOVES hamsters. Suddenly they all draw weapons and begin to fight...
    • After Tina and Gaige interrupt, even Wolfenstein has his moments when he reveals he's a major otaku (namely through a hurricane of Shout-Out)
  • Chapter 30: This exchange:
Dion [grossed out at Baldemar and Gaige's romantic antics] I wanna vomit.
Mordecai Don't get it on the couch.
Dion Not like you haven't done that shit!
    Mordecai I was drunk!
    Dion You're still drunk!
    Mordecai Touche!
  • Chapters 35: Monty. Python. References. It's mainly funny just from how many times they note how stupid it is.
  • Chapter 38: Rocko is back. And he is glorious (but unfortunately, not a good rapper).
  • Chapter 39: Private (Sergeant) Jessup comes back, and he manages to outswear every single person since the story started in one chapter.
  • Chapter 48. Brick comes back, and he's extremely mad that there's not a single strong opponent in the area (despite Jorr completely trashing the earlier Vault Hunters).
  • Chapter 51. Even more bonding time with the main group.
    • Baldemar singing "I can show you the world" when showing Saprus Nutella.
    • Sarpus finally taking off his mask, revealing he is a Bishonen. While it counts as a Heartwarming Moment (especially Taika's reaction) everyone else is too busy commenting how he's remarkably hot for someone '62 years old'.
    • Dion saying he puts bacon grease on toast and crackers isn't that funny. Saying how it's "magically delicious" is hilarious.
  • Chapter 52: Dion dehydrating and nearly dying should've been dramatic, but it ends up being hilarious because of everyone's reactions (initially joking and mocking, but eventually panicking when they realize he's sincere).
  • Chapters 57-58: Dion and Baldemar get along together a little 'too' well. They're one of the best examples of Vitriolic Best Buds in the story, and yet their moments together are hilarious.
  • Chapter 64: Flying train. That is all.
  • Chapter 66: The conversation with Baldemar and Gaige, along with everyone's snark, is full of funny moments.
    • Even before that, the "Yeah, I'm all sorts of fucked up. I'm licking my palms and jerking off to My Little Pony porn in my basement with Cheetos under my finger nails" Crosses the Line Twice in so many regards.
    • And then he dumps more by mentioning the "adventures of Roddy Piper and his trusty side-fuckbuddy Pink Glove" when referencing Baldemar and Gaige. Taika calms him out on that one.
  • Chapter 84, the battle is over, the Vault has been secured. So of course it makes sense they actually show what would happen after the battle realistically (relatively anyway).
    • Dion is getting patched up from being absolutely trashed, complaining all the way.
    • Taika has to apologize to Marcus for destroying one of his favorite guns, before Wolfenstein walks in and just glares at Marcus to shut up. And then he proves he's Not So Above It All and pretends to hit on Taika, only to reveal it was a ploy just to get a bottle of scotch from Saprus.
  • Gaige and Baldemar fulfilling their promise earlier to have non-stop sex after the battle. "Away Seabiscuit" indeed.
