Season 1: The Case of Daniel Bronstadt

  • In Episode 2, this bit from Daniel; it's hard to tell if he's being his usual ditzy self or if he's being snarky, but it's funny either way:
Daniel: You know what? You don't care about the horses, you're here to talk about Chuck's murder. So let's go. Let's go somewhere inside where we can comfortably talk about how Chuck was killed.
  • The fictional cults listed in Episode 3 includes one that worshiped pogs and another that worshiped ant farms.
  • The Mandala's founder, Ramsey Cole, is very candid about how he feels about the cult:
Ramsey: To be clear, for the purposes of your podcast, alright, we were a cult. But, you know, when it comes to the IRS and the legal ramifications and what not, we were a church. An assembly of a group of individuals with a like-minded ideology who just wanted to hear a bunch of gobbledygook that I was making up.
  • Ramsey tells Gwen about a meeting he had with an old college buddy who had joined a cult and inspired him to start his own. It swings into Black Comedy territory when Ramsey says the friend died in a shootout with law enforcement after his cult went off the deep end.
  • Him explaining how the Mandala was not a suicide cult:
Ramsey: There as a guy in my cult, and I'll never forget this guy, and he was like "I think we should kill ourselves." And we were like, "yeah, okay, Todd; you go first." [...] He didn't kill himself, though.

Season 3: Grand Casino

  • One of the projects Blaine was working on while Kirk was making Grand Casino was a Joe Camel Saturday-Morning Cartoon.
  • Helen's fake Stanley Kubrick short film:
Character: Who are you?! I thought you were dead. Or I thought I was dead? This imagery! It is so crazy! Is that an eagle? With the wings of a butterfly? It's beauty terror! BEAUTY TERROR!
  • Just about everything we hear of Grand Casino:
    • The unexplained presence of a chimpanzee called Mr. Tuxedo Top... who somehow betrays Greg and Dominique during the heist.
      Greg: Goddamn CHIMPANZEE!
    • The abrupt ending, closing the movie with a typo-laden "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue.
    • One of the scenes where Kirk hadn't written any dialogue, leaving just a bunch of question marks and forcing the actors to improvise. Greg says he drank a magic potion that makes him able to freeze bullets and then he and Dominique pantomime making their getaway on a motorcycle.
    • This zinger when Greg and Dominique meet at a nude beach, that makes an audience member at the screening gasp:
Dominique: Do you remember me from the casino?
Greg: No, but I remember those.
