Funny / The 8-Bit Drummer

Go To

The 8-Bit Drummer is almost as well known for comedic moments as he is for his drumming, so there are bound to be moments that make the audience want to laugh with him.

  • When Jerod uploads a video to YouTube, he puts a link to the original video and the channel that made it in the description. While this may come across as more nice than funny, when the channel in question is just a simple, first name or the channel name is in Japanese, it feels like a surreal joke that bill wurtz would make.
  • In the very first moments of his highlight compilation, someone asked him why there was no half-naked chick dancing in his channel as a joke. Jerod then goes on to explain what Twitch was all about. Each time he said something though, the editor (HyperCole64) just put the word "memes" on the screen.
  • The various mishaps with misspellings that happen stream... after stream... after stream... after stream. From not noticing that he wrote "warining" in the stream title until the end of said stream to missing letters out of viewer names for as long as years, when antics about spelling arise, they will not be forgotten.
  • In this clip, Jerod thinks he's about to play One-Winged Angel, but he realizes too late that it's actually "One-Winged Angel but it speeds up 500%". He reacts accordingly.
  • Qsie's videos getting played. Every single one of them. In fact, Flowhaa Gardennote  has reached memetic status on the channel.
    • Also, there are moments where other fans get their content played. They're bound to be a hoot, since they were made with Jerod, his sense of humour and his community in mind.
  • When Jerod clicks a SiIvaGunner video expecting the real song. Especially when he forgets to check the uploader before playing. Sometimes, he'll try and predict a song being fake before opening it, and see a different profile picture as it opens... only for it to be a different "ripping" channel instead of an actual upload.
  • Jerod once received a tip of $105.04 from none other than Davie504, who had one simple request in return... He wanted Jerod to play the Pornhub intro. Despite not doing this any other day of the week due to how... family unfriendly the source of the intro is, Jerod obliged, insisting that he'd never heard the beat before.
  • It is a Running Gag where, when something funny happens onstream, a viewer will gift a sub to an account with a relevant name. note
    • Sometimes, these accounts are used unironically instead of just being made as a joke for the above reason. If this is the case, expect the owner of that account to come wondering in, confused as to why they were gifted a sub to a channel they'd never heard of by a person they'd never seen before.
      • By far, the most notable example of this is when a rather cheeky viewer gifted a sub to both "Cock_In" and "Cock_Out". Both of them later dropped in, wondering what had happened at first, and then settling in and enjoying the content with everyone else.
  • Jerod occasionally pulls out an Uno Reverse Card to deflect a statement back at the person who made it. While this is funny enough on its own, someone started a trend of telling him he has the card upside down... despite the pattern on the card being the same both ways up.
  • During a Smash Community Day, the person next in line to play against Jerod couldn't get into the lobby, as it was full already. To combat this, Jerod asked another person to temporarily leave the room so the one who was next to fight could join. After doing so, Jerod immediately listed the person who just left as one of the people who could stay in the room.
    • In the same stream, his opponent unceremoniously SD's at the end of a match, so Jerod tries to give them another chance by going offstage and hitting them to allow them to recover again. However, he uses the wrong move and spikes them by accident.
Jerod: (Eye Take) ...That is not saving, I'm so sorry!
  • While introducing a new alert to the channel, Jerod forgot to turn down the volume on it before saving his changes. After testing it and scaring himself silly due to its volume, the chat tried taking advantage of this by repeatedly cheering the required amount of bits to trigger the alert, only for Jerod to shut it down before he could scare anyone else.
  • In this video, Jerod is trolled by his regulars, who keep gifting subs to "spoonerism" names (for example, "Mox_FcCloud", "lario_muigi", and "HonicTheSedgehog").
  • During early 2021, Jerod decided to take a spelling test to prove to his audience that he can spell. However, he simply looks up "Spelling test" and picks the first result, leading to a multi-choice test that frequently spells its own questions wrong, has obviously incorrect options such as "Dissappointtmennt", constantly places the correct answer on the same letter, tries to throw the participant off by asking them to spell the capital of Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur)... only to put it on the same letter as every other correct answer and it even prides itself as being "for adults" in spite of all this.
    • Eventually, Jerod reaches the end of the quiz, and has to spell the word for "the rubber things you put on your are[sic]". He chooses the spelling "Tire" and starts commenting about how easy the test was... only for "Tyre" to be marked as correct instead, due to the test being British. The Delayed Reaction that follows is a real hoot.
Jerod: (Makes an incredulous face) Hello? It's C. That was the easiest quiz I've ever taken except the "Kuala Lumpur" question. Like, legitimately,
(Answer B, Tyre, is illuminated in green)
Jerod: (Not noticing he got it wrong) What the frick? All right... Tha- wow! Why were they- (Eye Take) ...I'm sorry, WHAT? (Beat) ...This is a British quiz...
  • While playing through a Fusion Collab of Gerudo Valley, Jerod receives a warning that the next segment contains heavy profanity as it is a remix of a rap song. Jerod abrubtly mutes the video as it transitions and sits in complete silence until the next variation starts, at which point he unmutes the song and continues as if nothing ever happened... Not counting his laughter afterwards.
  • At one point, he found out that he has his own article on Wikitubia and decided to read through it on cast. Several moments spawned from this.
    • His confusion about how specific the page can be, such as when it details how he changed his title format shortly after upgrading his drums.
    • After reading that he started to gain attention on Youtube after uploading covers of the Undertale soundtrack, he just starts Corpsing mid-sentence.
Jerod: Nobody gave a frick until I played to Megan! Nobody cared until I put on the mask!
    • When he reads that he occasionally plays meme songs, including bait-and-switch tracks by Siivagunner:
Jerod: "Nowadays, his covers are mainly game soundtracks and occasionally meme songs, typically bait-and-switch music tracks MADE BY SILVAGUNNER! ...requested by fans."
    • His reaction to the page incorrectly stating he used to be a factory worker, where he minimises the page so the viewers can see just how confused he is.
    • Upon opening a tab displaying his first functioning video (as in, not privated or deleted), he encounters a video that he unlisted.
Jerod: (Beat) ...What the frick, you can't even get to this any more!
    • Also, him clarifying his own usage of the term "Drummer Sans", which the page formerly falsely claimed he and his circle of friends and family use:
Jerod: ...I have never once, in my entire existence, called myself "Drummer Sans"! "Jerod's circle of friends and family" do not call me drummer Sa-a-a-a-ans!
    • When going over a description of his friend, FamilyJules, he deliberately misreads "music covers" as "doorbell videos", referencing how he frequently changes his doorbell sound to play meme songs.
    • His absolute gale of laughter when the webpage credits his moderator, Delcake, for inventing the nickname "strimmer". Said moderator proceeded to repeatedly post "I made this :)" in the chat.
      • Also, the fact that the webpage brings up that "strimmer" is also the British-Irish word for a string trimmer.
    • He finds that the nickname "Funny Drummer Man" is credited to a seemingly random viewer of his channel. What makes it seemingly random is that the person states in the chat that they didn't invent the nickname.
    • His amusement of the only comment on the page being from ScoopOfButter, simply reading "yay".
  • While playing a video titled "Morshu No. 5", a scene of Morshu with no clothes on pops up. Instead of racing to hide the video like one would expect, he just asks, weak from laughter, "Why is he naked?" and continues playing.
  • Jerod reads some strange emails that he and Erika have received recently:
    • Jerod randomly got an offer to review guitar equipment.
    • Erika received an email from "Norton Security" (complete with a Gmail account!), asking her to pay $429. It was filled with run-ons and broken English.
  • Jerod refers to niki's songs covered by Tokoyami Towa as having what he calls the "Worship Song Swing" type of beat one plays at church. It's funny in context for those familiar with Running Gag / Meme related to Towa actually being an angel, making her covers of these prophetically appropriate.
  • One time, he turned on text-to-speechnote  for his bit donation messages. Big mistake. As almost the rest of the stream was occupied by various memetic, drawn out, nonsensical messages comparable to what happens on Zentreya's streams.
  • When opening a request for Nichijou's second opening, he begins cackling right off the bat due to him recognising it from a memetic video. No points for guessing which.
  • Jerod performs to Stonebank's "Stronger", then a viewer gifts a subscription to "weaker". He buckles down in laughter.
  • To celebrate meeting the goal for the drummer bunny plush, Jerod fires up text-to-speech and has Ditsnow (his Ditto Vaporeon plush) read them. The viewers go nuts, having Ditsnow recreate various noises (sprinklers, printers, etc) or puns. Highlights include, in no particular order:
  • Jerod utilizes his wheel during a charity stream on September 22. At one point he applies overplaying a random song set to 1.25x speed. The video for the chosen song is unavailable due to copyright.
