Meta:

  • Satori the Archivist is one determined OSF agent who follows you around the game, even in the harshest and most dangerous places. Given that he's the game's Save Point and shopkeeper, this is justified, though one has to wonder just how much RPM his little motorbike has to be able to constantly be ahead of you despite terrain and obstacles, the threat of Others, and how you needed Luka to mass-teleport you into a secure area. A "shadow" following you around indeed, and the Merchant would definitely be proud.

  • The "Shadow on the Recording" boss mission where the player fights an iteration of Karen based off of his design from the anime when he fought the protagonists at Sumeragi Tomb. Once he goes into Brain Drive after losing some of his health, he will start using Special Attacks. During one of these Special Attacks, he will sometimes shout "Quiet, you nobody!" while activating it, which sounds rather childish for a soldier and military leader to say. This also applies in the Japanese dub, where his equivalent shout is "Zako wa damare!" (雑魚は黙れ!), which means the same thing.

Main Story

Yuito's Route

  • When Kasane and her team defect from the OSF after Joe Sumeragi's murder in Yuito's route, a badly-drawn Facial Composite Failure of their faces gets shown on the news while Yuito's team is in their hideout. Even Yuito can’t help but express some amusement.

Kasane's Route

  • The first group bonding episode has Kyoka convincing everyone to throw a party by needling Shiden into working and getting Arashi to go along by having everyone else vote in favor of it. The problem? Kyoka meant well, but she gave most people the wrong jobs for set-up. To wit;
    • Arashi is given the job of cooking. All Arashi ever eats and drinks are rations and cola, because she's too lazy to make something or even eat out. When Kasane admits she won't mind what Arashi brings so long as it's edible, Arashi takes that as an excuse to pull her old tricks under the pretext that the party will be a success so long as a third of the members enjoy it.
    • Shiden, the only one who takes things seriously and would do a good job as a cook, handles decorations. When Kasane reacts neutrally to his ideas for decorations, Shiden takes that as a challenge to outfit the entire room like a disco hall.
    • Haruka is the party MC. She has the energy for it, but she gets a bit too into the role and ends up writing a speech for a simple party that lasts fifteen minutes before Arashi politely shuts her down.
    • Having Kagero handle the fun would usually work, but he's stumped by how to get the straight-laced Shiden and the lazy Arashi to get into the spirit of the party...so he recruits Kasane for call and response. What Shiden says to Kasane following her 'attempt' at being a hype woman is great, as is the small, half-committed fist-bump Kasane tries.
    • Despite everything, the party is deemed an absolute success because the 'lazy, haphazard' way it was put together fits the majority of the party-goers. It's definitely sweet to see Shiden and Arashi make Kyoka feel better, but their reasons for enjoying the party end up essentially being 'this whole mess of a party just fits us.' Note this includes Shiden bickering as usual.
  • Kasane herself can be a source of chuckles as someone with very little filter. She's not actively malicious, but she thinks she's the only sane person around when her objectives and mannerisms thoroughly confuse other people. Highlights include blowing off Shiden when he goes into tangents about how great he is, curiously asking why Hanabi would be so upset about Kasane's attempt to kill Yuito, and playing off the much more expressive Arashi.
  • A bit of Black Comedy, but when Kagero asks Kasane why she wants to kill Yuito, she simply says its because she was told to. She then asks Kagero why he killed Yuito's father, and his answer is exactly the same.
  • During Kodama's final Dual Boss battle with her twin-sister, Yuta, it's quickly made apparent that they don't have the best relationship in the world with how Yuta is absolutely delighted at the prospect of Kodama thoroughly getting beaten up by Kasane again. At the end of the fight, when it's clear that Kasane Platoon has soundly beaten them, this exchange happens:
Yuta: Dang it, they got us... I'm still throbbing from Kasane's attacks...
Kodama: Not another word. I hate that we're related.

Both Routes

  • The Dominus Circus boss, a contender for best boss in the game for many, has multiple phases. The first three phases share the same generally creepy boss theme. The final phase's theme? Electro swing. Mood Dissonance at its finest.

Anime:

  • In "Karen's Wish", Fubuki remembers meeting Karen as a kid who seems to be grumpy. When he and Alice see him again, the latter was expecting him to say something mean. Instead, Karen gave her flowers. This left her confused.
