    Pokémon: Harmony and Chaos
  • Flash says he thinks he knows why Celestia had Twilight join him on his journey. So she can learn how to battle properly, recalling her and Owlicious being easily beaten by Movine. Spike agrees with this, telling Twilight that she sucks at battling, much to her frustration.
  • Professor Celestia being caught eating cake both times she is called in "Riptide", only to deny it and push the plate out of view.
  • Twilight gets frustrated when Aquana refuses to return to its Poké ball. When Aquana retaliates by blasting her in the face with Water Gun, Twilight becomes so mad her hair bursts into flames, drying herself off instantly? This resembles her "Rapidash" form from "Feeling Pinkie Keen", which is appropriate given the setting is now in the Pokémon world. Luckily, she quickly calms down after being scolded by Celestia over the phone.
  • Time Turner is a Expy of The Doctor, with him even going by Doc for short. His gym even acts as a reference to the TARDIS, with it standing for Tactical Analysis Refereeing Diagnostic Interface System here.
  • While Flash and Viper are on their way to get the medicine to help their poisoned friends, they are confronted by the Geckoxic that poisoned everyone, who brought a friend to help attack them. Flash checks his Pokédex and sees it is a Frillace, the evolved form of Geckoxic, and mockingly asks if he ran to get his big brother for help. This causes the Frillace to go red faced with anger and scream at Flash. He double checks the info on his Pokédex, and apologizes, correcting himself saying "big sister" instead.
  • When everyone goes to meet Professor Luna, she isn't around at 10:00 like they were told. When Spike suggests she is running late Twilight tells him not to say that because a professor should never be late. The scene cuts to 30 minutes later and they are ''still waiting, until Luna finally arrives, hoping they weren't waiting long.
  • Twilight finally gets to see the Bales Town Library. Unfortunately for her, it just so happens that Trixie is performing a magic show outside and the noise is disturbing everyone inside. This leads to Twilight deciding to confront her herself.
    • Flash, Doc, and Spike were watching Trixie's show and enjoying it. But as soon as Twilight shows up they know things won't end well, but none of them want to get between Twilight when she is like that.
    • Twilight was already mad when she confronted Trixie, but then when Trixie starts insulting the library and the books inside, even saying she could burn the place down and the world would be better off, Twilight snaps and challenges her to a battle. Spike words it best.
Spike: (eyes shrinking and gulping nervously) Oh no. She definitely shouldn't have said that.
  • When Trixie realizes she is in big trouble, when Owlicious learns Confusion, and it is powered up from him being forced to use Calm Mind so many times, she nervously asks Twilight is she wants to call it a draw. Naturally, her request is refused.
  • Spike gets a crush as soon as he sees Rarity, just like canon. He gets hearts in his eyes upon laying eyes on her, which the other characters comment on.
    Applejack: Is that normal?
    Twilight: Um...no actually. That's... new.
  • After two chapters of Flash facing new trainers the group encounters (Rainbow and Applejack), he is disappointed when they meet Pinkie and she chooses to battle Doc instead. Twilight tells him he doesn't need to battle every trainer he meets, and Flash gasps in shock shouting "How dare you!" at her, as if she greatly insulted him.
  • When Twilight goes into a presentation about the different ways that Pokémon evolve, it is shown that Flash and Springer fell asleep at some point during her long lecture. Twilight snaps her pointer in anger, smoke coming from her hair, and the others backing away slowly.
    Twilight: FLASH!
One super-violent scene too graphic to be described or be shown due to this story's rating later...
Flash and Springer now laid on the floor of the Pokémon Center, both in bandages and giant lumps on their heads. Springer was completely knocked out while Flash just continued to lay there despite having more injuries, his whole body covered in bandages.
  • Flash is upset when he learns that the Fillydelphia Gym Leader is gone at the moment, so the Gym is not accepting challengers. His choice of words also serve as a pun for the Pokémon world.
Flash: That's total Bouffalant! (Twilight covers Spike's ears) What kind of Gym Leader leaves their Gym?!
Doc: Ahem! I left my Gym.
Flash: Oh... yeah. Besides the ones that have a very valid reason of course. Sorry.
  • Flash demonstrates how little he actually plans during his first Gym Battle with Thorax. After Skyler is defeated against Movine, he sends out Prongs, despite him being weak to Bug-types. Flash's reason? It won't be a disadvantage if the move doesn't hit Prongs. Even Thorax and Pharynx stare at him with a look that says "Are you serious?" before continuing.
  • When Flash faces Chrysalis and her Queensect, the female counterpart of Kingsect, Flash is grossed out and comments that Kingsect won in the looks department of the family, much to the fury of Chrysalis.
  • When traveling to Baltimare City, after Twilight comments how it will take three days to get out of the forest, Flash suggests they try taking a shortcut off the path, with Spike and Doc supporting the idea against Twilight's objections. Cut to several hours later with the group lost and Twilight continually saying she told them so. Also, Doc and Spike also blame Flash entirely, even though they supported the idea.
  • In a clear reference to the introduction of Gran Torino, when Flash and his friends first see Solid Stone, he is apparently dead and all of them freak out over it. Twilight shows a bit of Skewed Priorities since she is afraid if she goes to jail for this Celestia won't let her be her student anymore. Though it turns out he isn't dead, he just fell asleep on his dinner before eating. They find this out when Springer suddenly starts poking the apparent dead body, seemingly showing a disrespect for it, only for him to actually sense the aura from his body and wake him up.
    • It turns out the reason Stone randomly fell asleep was because he accidentally heard Pinkie's Jigglypuff singing from outside as she was floating by.
  • After Flash defeats Solid Stone so he and his friends can enter Ghastly Gorge, Stone supplies them with a map they can use. The only problem is, the map looks like it was drawn by a three year old!
  • Pinkie's Jigglypuff continues the Running Gag the original wild one did in the anime. Whenever she sings and everyone falls asleep around her from hearing it, she gets angry and doodles on their sleeping faces. Pinkie actually guesses this is what happened when she sees the doodles herself, implying this has happened before. At the end of the chapter when Jigglypuff starts singing again, Pinkie can't put her ear plus in fast enough and falls asleep too, with even her being subjected to her Jigglypuff's face doodling. No wonder Jigglypuff has the "Naughty" Nature.
  • When everyone finds a group of Scrapow guarding a fountain of water in the canyon, Twilight realizes they must be one of the crudely drawn figures on the map, as a warning.
  • After Springer beats Scar to the tree in the second challenge he takes a bite out of one of the fruits from it, only to immediately spit it out in disgust from the sour taste. With fruit like that, it is no wonder Scrapow are all so grouchy.
  • It is bluntly confirmed that yes, the "Movie" side-stories are canon, as several readers were wondering, when the group reference Total Eclixie of the Heart when explaining to Pinkie they missed the last festival they came across because they were dealing with "mad scientists and giant robots", much to her confusion.
  • Flash and Twilight's sub-plot of "Party Trainers" is exactly like Sunset and Sci-Twi's in Rollercoaster of Friendship, with the two of them trying and failing to win a rigged carnival bottle game.
    • Flash backhands a stuffed Chatot plushie away that's offered to them, shouting " IT'S NOT ABOUT THE CHATOT!", with it landing in the arms of a grateful boy.
    • When Flash and Twilight give up and Flash tosses their last ring over his shoulder, only Springer and Owlicious witness it landing on a bottle. They are both shocked by this.
    • The Author's Notes section acknowledges that Flash took Sunset's spot from the actual sub-plot, and says Sunset was unavailable for it because she was busy with Fluttershy and a game blog, a reference to the short "Game Stream", the latest released short at the time of the chapter's release.
  • When Maud has her Stegolate use the move Spikes during her Gym Battle with Flash, Spike is just surprised that there is a move that has his name.
  • At the start of "Birds of a Feather", Flash is snatched from the rest of the group by a giant Pidgeot, who flies him up the mountain. It is eventually revealed this Pidgeot belongs to Flash's grandmother, Cloud Clipper, and when they reach the top, Pidgeot drops Flash ten feet to the ground instead of setting him down gently. When Flash starts yelling at him for this, Cloud Clipper speaks up, saying he probably thought Flash deserved it.
    • When the rest of the group catches up to Flash and sees him being berated by his grandma, it turns out that she is upset with him because before Flash went out on his journey he promised to call his grandma every now and then, but he hasn't called her once since leaving. Twilight is upset with him over this upon hearing it, only for Flash to point out she and Spike haven't called her parents once since they left Canterlot City. Twilight admits that's true... but says they at least email them.
  • When a Pokémon Center is showing a battle Shining Armor, the champion of Equestria, once had, a lot of little kids are seen cheering for him, with several of them hoping to grow up and beat him someday. One fangirl of his has other ideas.
Little Girl: Who cares about beating him?! I'm gonna marry him!
Little Boy: Isn't he already married?
Little Girl: He wouldn't do that to me.
  • When Flash and Shining have a five-on-five match, most of Flash's Pokémon are beaten in one hit by Galladin. When Riptide is called out, he is nervous at first before gaining his confidence when Flash voices his belief in him and a determined glare. But as soon as Doc declares the battle to begin, a Scene Transition simply saying 'Five seconds later.' shows Riptide being knocked out after being struck by Slash, unable to do anything.
  • In "Release the Sparaken", the Magikarp salesman from the anime makes an appearance, trying to pull the same scam on Spike that he did on James. Though luckily Doc arrives just in time and scares him away.
  • Flash is excited when Fancy Pants offers to battle him to help him prepare for the Hoof Cup, since he just saw that Fancy Pants was capable of doing a devastating Z-Move with his Persian. However, when they end their battle early, Fancy says afterwards he was never planning to use his Z-Move against Flash, even if it meant he would lose, since using such a move like Black Hole Eclipse would probably rip the cruise ship in half.
  • Trixie reveals she has a Slowpoke in "We Didn't Start the Fire". Like most of the Slowpoke seen in the anime, it is almost completely motionless and unresponsive to everyone, even other Pokémon. Though Trixie claims it can battle, it does not make any attempt to even eat when given food. The first action it does finally do is trade its Pokémon food with Flash's curry after he says it is way too hot, levitating the two plates to swap them, before slowly eating the curry itself and apparently being unaffected by its hotness.
  • Riptide fanboying over a Spranitor, excited that it what he will be one day, is equal parts funny and heartwarming.
  • When Sunset ends her phone call with everyone before the start of the Hoof Cup, she blows Flash a kiss before hanging up, and Flash quickly moves his head aside as if to avoid it. While everyone else is snickering at Flash being flustered, Twilight once again shows her Green-Eyed Monster side and just tells "lover boy" to get his head back in the game.
  • During Pinkie's match with Sandalwood, Pinkie has Gummy use Bite on Grotle. Though since Gummy is toothless, the attack does absolutely nothing, to the confusion of the entire audience watching. Pinkie later says it was funny seeing everyone's reactions.
  • When Bloxx and Chimplug battle in the second round, there is an amusing moment when Chimplug steps on one of the blocks left on the battlefield and hops around on one foot in pain. Stepping on a lego just became weaponized! The crowd watching certainly finds it amusing and laughs at the display, much to Lightning's anger.
  • Through the tournament, a lot of trainers win despite their Pokémon having a type disadvantage. When Rainbow and Doc battle in the second round, Rainbow purposely chooses Tank to battle Steeledge, thinking she could do it too. Unfortunately for her, she ends up losing because unlike everyone else she had no strategy for the disadvantage she gave herself.

Pokémon the Movie: Total Eclixie of the Heart
  • When we first see Flash's group, Flash and Springer decide to spend the day being lazy together, with Flash bluntly refusing to do his chores for the day. When Twilight just gets mad at him, Flash says if she does his chores for the day he will do all hers the tomorrow. Twilight points out to Spike and Doc that he is forgetting tomorrow was going to be her turn to give the Pokémon a wash. This causes the two of them to flinch, knowing how their Pokémon hate getting washed, with Flash being unaware of what awaits him.
    • Initially Spike also asks if he can get in on the "no chores" deal. But Twilight refuses, saying she might not be able to stop Flash from being a Lazy Bum, but she can make sure Spike doesn't become one.
    • Of course when Flash is challenged to a battle by a trainer he accepts immediately, which only makes Twilight madder because of how he said he wasn't feeling like working. Flash just says Pokémon battles aren't work, which Spike agrees with, getting a Death Glare from his sister.
  • At the end of the story, as Sunset prepares to leave the group, she surprises everyone by suddenly running back and pulling Flash into a kiss before hopping on her train and waving her friends goodbye.
  • Also serving as a Brick Joke to the start of the story, Twilight notices Flash still blushing after receiving his First Kiss, and gives him a Dope Slap before reminding him of his chores. The extra bits she adds to it almost makes it seem like she is acting out of jealousy.
Twilight: Oh, get over yourself Romeo. Don't forget, you still gotta do my chores. And after everything they went through, I think our Pokémon all deserve a half-hour wash...each.
    Flash: Half an hour each?
Twilight: And don't think I won't be inspecting them all. They'd better be spotless when you're done.

    Pokémon: Equestrian Adventures
  • When everyone is discussing how to get to Applewood City, Rarity protests going through the Everfree Forest while Applejack assures her they'll be fine. When the others ask what is the Everfree Forest, the two explain it to them with very different stories. By the end of it, Flash, Twilight, and Doc all agree they should head through it, while Spike is left shivering in fear along with Rarity.
    Rarity: What have I done?
Spike: Oh no... I'm gonna end up not wanting to hold a Poké ball before I even get the chance too.
  • Shortly after Hopper first hatches from his egg, Flash gives him some Normal-Type food to feed him. Despite being a Normal-Type though, he apparently doesn't like it, to everyone's shock, and lets out a Screech attack, causing everyone to cover their ears while trying to calm him.
  • Unlike many other antagonists, the Pokémon hunters seen in "Hopping to the Rescue/The Mysterious Egg" are borderline incompetent. They don't even understand Type matchups, with many of them using Pokémon that are at a disadvantage against the heroes' Pokémon and some of them not even knowing what moves they are immune to. Their leader shows to be no better, using a Rhydon, a Rock and Ground-Type, against Riptide, a Water-Type. Flash hangs a serious lampshade on this.
Flash: No wonder you fell to a life of crime. You were too stupid to get any other job.
  • Hopper is so energetic he hops all around the Pokémon Center, with everyone else struggling to catch him.
  • We see Celestia and Luna's Sibling Rivalry in "A Sibling's Spat" with the two of them arguing over a lecture they are supposed to give. It got so bad that their students, Sunset and Trixie, left the town hall to stay out of it for awhile.
  • Before the group heads out, Sunset briefly flirts with Flash while wishing him good luck at his next Gym Battle, telling him he is sure to win. Twilight simply drags him away by the ear.
  • After finally arriving in Applewood City, Flash and his friends quickly meet Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle. Sweetie Belle shows she absolutely loves cute Pokémon, letting out a huge squeal when she sees Springer and pulling him into a crushing Bear Hug while screaming of how fluffy he is. Then when Rarity shows her her three new Pokémon, Sweetie Belle starts to crush all of them in a snake like hug.
    • This becomes a Brick Joke in the following chapter. When Flash calls out Hopper to watch his Gym Battle with Granny Smith and learn how it works, Sweetie Belle needs to be physically restrained by Rarity to stop from death hugging him too.
  • When the gang runs into Pinkie again at Camp Everfree, she reveals she caught a Milcery, a Pokémon only native to the Galar Region. When Twilight asks her how she caught it, we see a brief flashback where Pinkie was sitting on a park bench lecturing Gummy when all of a sudden Milcery randomly floated up to her and Pinkie said hello to it. Twilight is left more confused than ever.
  • During one activity at camp where the campers need to fish out a Water-Type from the lake and do a report on it, Pinkie ends up fishing out three different Pokémon all on the same line; a Dewpider, Quagsire, and Oshawott. Timber even states he has never seen the Oshawott in the lake before. This is then followed by a Shellder randomly coming out of the lake next and jumping on Pinkie's head, with her noting she didn't even need to fish to get that one. Then when she is told she can only write her report on one of them, she simply chooses Dewpider since it came out first.
  • In a brilliant Mythology Gag moment, Lightning gets annoyed at a Magikarp that won't leave him alone and kicks it away from him. Shortly afterwards, Magikarp evolves into a Gyarados and goes on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge. History Repeats Itself it seems.
  • After Clauncher defeats Gyarados and Gloriosa catches it since there is no room in the lake for it, Clauncher swims out into the lake, grabs the Poké Ball it was caught in, and swims back to give it to Gloriosa. She even gives him a quick thanks for his help.
  • During the race in "Camp Town Races", Flash states the only reason he was able to answer the final question in the course was because of a lecture she gave previously on evolution she thought he had slept through. This serves as a Call-Back to "The Evolution Solution", which also means Flash and Springer were only pretending to be asleep... and Twilight beat them up for nothing.
  • During the last day at camp, all the campers are wearing various Pokémon stickers on their shirts, which were stuck there overnight. Later, when Timber confronts Flash and Twilight and tells them he is going on his own journey and plans to promote his camp during it, he points to the symbol on his shirt... only to point at the sticker on it instead, which happens to be a Trubbish. When Spike points it out, Timber rips it off in frustration.
Spike: You're promoting the Trash Bag Pokémon?
  • Spike lampshades how the group always seems to take the most dangerous route from town to town when the only way to get to Appaloosa City is to travel through the Grand Desert.
  • At the start of the Shoot Race, Hopper falls behind quickly due to only being able to hop to move. The only other racer at the back of the pack with him is a Forretress.
  • Doc spends most of "A Cure for Doc" and "Escape From the Underground" sick from overexerting himself and ends up sleeping through the entire Douburrow attack and adventure underground. When he finally wakes up he says he had the weirdest dream, with Flash and Twilight smirking saying they think they know what it was about before catching him up on what he missed.
  • Some of the nightmares caused by Tantabagot have some funny moments.
    • Doc is attacked by all of his failed inventions merged into one, wanting revenge on him.
Doc: Aaaaah! What was I thinking giving a spaghetti folk a turbo?!
    • When Luna and Slumberam arrive in Flash's dream, they see he and Springer fighting against several Legendary Pokémon, defeating them and being crowned the strongest trainer in the world. Luna rolls her eyes at the sight, commenting on Flash's ego and how the real Giratina is immune to Aura Sphere. Then when the dream is turned into a nightmare by Tantabagot, the Legendaries initially turn into monstrous versions of themselves, but when Flash declares he's not scared of them they change again... into giant sock puppet versions of themselves. Luna's reaction of "What?" as Flash freaks out is what sells it.
  • After Tantabgot is beaten, before the gang leaves town, Luna says she met some kids earlier who wanted to give them a giftas a thank you for helping stop Tantabgot. She pulls out a Riolu sock puppet they made, and while everyone else thinks it's adorable, Flash just screams and runs off. Everyone else just looks on in confusion before laughing together and looking at the rest of the sock puppets based on their Pokémon.
  • As the group begins climbing the mountain to reach Cloudsdale City, they run into Gilda and Gallus, and Gilda says she is training herself to prepare for a rematch with Spitfire and is trying to beat 100 trainers in a row. Flash guesses that she has already beaten 99 and they are her last ones, but Gallus says that Gilda has actually only beaten 24 trainers so far.
Flash: Huh. Guess we can't be part of every cliché.
  • When Lairon officially joins Doc's team and he welcomes it to the family, Lairon happily leaps on top of him in a hug, only to accidentally end up crushing him and Doc struggle to breath with the dinosaur on top of him.
  • When the group starts to get close to Cloudsdale, they run into five friendly Dranby. Spike, who is a big fan of Drangon Types, especially Champagoon, Dranby's final evolution, gives Twilight the biggest Puppy-Dog Eyes he can, obviously wanting her to catch one for him. Twilight is unsure though, thinking the five of them might not want to be separated, and then immediately says that she is not catching all five of them as Spike opens his mouth.
    Spike: Phooey...
  • As Flash and Hopper are making their way make up the mountain after being separated from everyone else, narrowly avoiding death, Flash comments that at least the hard part is over now. As soon as he says this, two of the Dranby from earlier run out in front of them playing together. Flash and Hopper freeze at this, realizing if they're there, then the mama Champagoon that attacked them is nearby too, right as said Champagoon stomps around the corner with the rest of her babies, smiling happily at her kids before spotting Flash and Hopper.
  • Also counting as an awesome moment, Cloud Clipper and Springer beat up the three bullies that sabotaged the race to try to stop Rainbow from winning. The two of them are standing over the three bullies glaring down at them and cracking their knuckles when we first see them, then after cutting back to them when the race is over they are all laid out on the ground beaten and bruised.
  • Rainbow is briefly teased about her attraction to Soarin at the end of "Cloudsdale Sky-Racers", giving a Defensive "What?". Flash even gets in on the teasing, after being on the other end throughout the series.
  • One moment during Flash and Spitfire's Gym Battle, Flash has Viper chase after Spitfire's Flitanium in the air by using Flamethrower on the ground to push himself into the air. This plan shocks everyone present, especially Spitfire and Fleetfoot. Pretty much the only ones not surprised are Flash's friends, since by now they have gotten used to his tendency to do insane things like that and make it work.
  • When Rainbow's Wondor has a Post-Victory Collapse after winning the second round of the Hoofington Battle Tournament's Battle Royal round for Rainbow, Rainbow asks if it is alright only to immediately realize that's a dumb question.
  • When Doc has Lairon use Rock Slide during the third Battle Royal, portals are opened up that rain rocks down on its opponents. Applejack at one point asks everyone where they think those rocks even come from, only getting shrugs in response.
  • During Flash and Rainbow's battle in the semi-finals, Skyler ends up evolving into a Tornavian and this allows it to finally defeat Tank. Afterwards, Rainbow asks what is it with them losing to Tornavian, remembering how they lost to Spitfire's previously.
  • When Kaida brings everyone to the Dragon Kingdom, Spike is so overjoyed to see so many different dragons at once he almost starts foaming from the mouth, unable to process everything.
  • The beginning of Part 2 of "Hopper the Lost Heir" has Hopper flying through the Dragon Kingdom with his parents. As Titan gives his son a dramatic speech about it, Hopper momentarily ruins the moment by getting into specifics.
Titan: Look around you, my son. Everything the light touches, is our kingdom.
Hopper: Wow... (raises eyebrow) Wait...what about the tunnels leading here? Those aren't touched by the light.
(Titan glares for a moment while Mercy lets out a laugh)
Titan: Alright, smarty pants. Everything the light touches, plus the tunnels leading here, is our kingdom!
  • There is some humor surrounding Princess, the shiny Skeidran.
    • Hopper gets a crush on her as soon as he sees her. When she notices him staring at her, she takes a moment to inspect him closely, before walking away with a smile and purposely moving her tail under his chin until it flicks him at the end.
    • According to Hopper's parents, she has been a huge Dude Magnet ever since she hatched, with every Hoppin, Velocirush and Skeidran trying to woo her. We see a few Skeidran try to impress her with their attacks, only to end up embarrassing themselves.
    • Princess and Hopper have a secret "date" one night, witnessed by Flash and Twilight. Things don't start out well for Hopper at first, especially when Twilight signals some bad advice to him to get him to do an avian Mating Dance to try to impress Princess... which comes out looking like a chicken dance.
      Flash: What are you doing?
Twilight: What? This is a traditional mating dance for a lot of avian species.
Flash: Hopper is not a bird!
    • Tired of listening to the humans at this point, Hopper decides to do his own thing, and ends up impressing Princess by drawing a picture of her face in the dirt. This also serves to complete the Running Gag of him not being a great drawer previously but slowly getting better, in "Spike's Little Friend" and "Heavy Metal".
  • At the end of the climactic battle between Flash and Cadmus, right when Hopper defeats Cadmus's Galvern Flash also defeats Cadmus by punching him in the face, with the trainer and Pokémon being thrown back. After they crash, they are both seen with spirals in their eyes as usual for any knocked out Pokémon. The fact that this happened to a serious villain like Cadmus instead of a more comedic character somehow makes it funnier.

Pokémon the Movie: Voice of the Ocean
  • At the start of the story, The Dazzlings are briefly discussing their annoyance at being born into the town's tradition, and not knowing which of them is the actual priestess, Aria states how Adagio is the most obvious choice since she was the first born among them. Adagio responds in one of the most tactless ways possible.
Adagio: That doesn't mean the power was passed onto me. We were all in the womb together. Just because I got out first doesn't mean I was imbued with it.
  • After Flash and Springer save Sonata from Black and White, Guile is revealed to have been watching this via his Surskit. He growls at the interference of "Another annoying kid with a stronger than it should be Pokémon getting in my way".
  • There are several funny moments at the start of the festival.
    • Flash and Twilight try another ring toss game like in "Party Trainers", and unfortunately don't do any better, eventually needing to be pulled away from it.
    • The Pokémon use their various moves and abilities to win the games, like Hopper using Iron Tail on a Test Your Strength game, Shine using her psychic abilities to control the dart for a balloon popping game, and Riptide using Water Gun to push the ball in a maze ball game away from holes. This eventually gets them shooed away for 'cheating'.
    • A few of the games at the arcade are Shout Outs to famous games, like Sonic the Sandslash and Munchlax-Man. Sonata also gets in on the fun and beats everyone at a Ludicolo dancing game.
  • When Twilight expresses amazement at Sonata's singing and says how she wishes she could learn the language, Sonata says that only her family is allowed to know the song. Since she is the (apparent) Sole Survivor of her family she needs to teach it to the next generation herself. Then she adds with a coy smile the only ones lucky enough to learn it will be her kids and their father, with only Springer noticing the way she briefly glances at Flash while saying that.
  • At the end of the story, before Sonata and her sisters go off to sing for the city, Sonata quickly tells Flash she loves him before running off. Everyone else in the group goes wide eyed from this, with Spike and Doc both congratulating Flash and Spring and Peewee cheering. But when Twilight asks him what he's going to say to Sonata after the concert, Flash doesn't know what she means because he is the only one in the group who didn't hear Sonata over the noise of the crowd, causing everyone to Face Fault at his obliviousness. When Flash just asks them what she said, everyone refuses to tell him out of annoyance.

    Pokémon: Equestrian Champions
  • While Flash is pushing himself and his Pokémon to keep training day and night while they are infected with Pokérus, he unknowingly ends up delaying Big Score's plans for several days, since Big Score doesn't want to reveal himself until he is sure nobody will interrupt him and his goons.
  • When Flash and his team delver a Curb-Stomp Battle to Big Score and his goons, he orders Skyler to use Giga Impact on Piedoom. Big Score, not knowing about Skyler's Scrappy ability, thinks it won't do anything to Piedoom. He and his goons are shocked when they are sent flying from it.
Big Score: WHAT?! That's impossible! Ghost-types aren't affected by Normal-type moves! That the rule!
Rickashay: Maybe somebody changed the rule? People used to think a bunch of Fairy-types were actually Normal-types, so maybe this is one of those things.
    Big Score: Oh, Shut up!
  • When the group runs into Sunset again and she sees Flash's new look, she sneaks in a Stealth Insult at his old hair style's expense, to his annoyance, by saying the new style is definitely an improvement.
  • Flash's egg from the Dragon Kingdom hatches, revealing a shiny Starvern he nicknames "Astro". Astro proves to be quite the troublemaker at first, constantly biting everyone and trying to wander off to explore. When Flash tries to discipline him to stop biting everyone, it turns out to be harder than he thought, since Astro just stares at him blankly before laughing and licking his face. It is hard to stay mad at something that cute.
  • After Astro is poisoned by an Ariados, Flash has the rest of his Pokémon attack it at once, sending the poor spider flying across the forest in a giant explosion. You gotta feel a little sorry for it, but can't help but laugh at it at the same time.
  • In a bit of a Black Comedy moment, the group is separated in a forest on the way to Seaward Shoals, due to being attacked by a vicious Trevenant. Flash ends up being left in the forest with only Riptide, Promgs, and Viper. When everyone else tries to get help for him in town, one woman says there were signs warning them, for Twilight to scream they didn't see any signs. She just nonchalantly wonders if it fell over or if one of the Trevenant destroyed it.
Twilight: One of them?! How many Trevenant are there in that forest?!
Woman: Oh, many. It's why nobody goes in there. Those Trevenant are very territorial.
    Twilight: We noticed. (Astral growls)
  • Flash and the group have an unexpected reunion with The Dazzlings at The Ocean Champion Tournament when Sonata runs up behind Flash and tackles him to the ground in a surprise hug.
  • Twilight has constantly shown to get jealous whenever someone else flirts with Flash, and remembering Sonata's Love Confession to him fills her with dread when she briefly talks to Sonata herself. But, she is so oblivious to her own feelings for Flash that when Sonata decides to backdown after realizing Twilight is better for him than her, and even tells Twilight "He's all yours," while saying goodbye to her, she doesn't understand what she means or that one of her romantic rivals is conceding to her.
  • When Flash and the gang meet up with Applejack and Rarity in Manehatten City, the two of them say they were surprised to hear they got there before the rest of them since they knew they were already on their way. Flash just says they got a little side-tracked... a lot.
  • Pinkie Pie makes a surprise guest star appearance in "Trapeze Trouble". Is there a more perfect setting for her than a circus?
  • The crazy trade-happy trainers at the trade meeting in "Tricks of the Trade". Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy end up running into the group because they were running away from a group of them who were offering them various trades for Angel and wouldn't take "no" for an answer. They attract more attention when Rainbow brings out her Gliscor, with Rainbow telling it to use Earthquake just so they can get away. Flash tries to help her by having Springer use Aura Sphere, but this just attracts their attention to him since they are amazed at a Riolu that can use Aura Sphere.
  • The town called "Splash-Splash-Splash Town", which is named similarly to the anime-only "Hop-Hop-Hop Town". Flash even lampshades how it is a weird name.
  • Doubeling as an awesome moment, during the battle between Flash and Lightning in the Balance Battle Tournament Flash has Viper use Flamethrower on the poles to make them too hot to stand on so Lightning's Pokémon will lose their footing. Eventually, Frostoak can't take it anymore and jumps on Pitchawk's back to try to stay safe until the poles cool, leading to the two of them arguing.
  • Tender's whole "Masked Trainer" disguise that he uses to enter Baron Von Babbelon's tournament is just a zorro mask and black cape. Von Babbelon is the only one fooled by it, and is completly shocked when he discovers Tender's true identity.
  • Flash and the group are uninterested in Baron Von Babbelon's tournament to decide who will marry his daughter Purity Babbelon. Flash pretty much only enters to both give Astro some extra training and help Tender win by Throwing the Fight against him. But Flash nearly ends up getting engaged himself when he ends up winning due to Tender forfeiting during their match. Luckily for him Purity accepted his polite decline, and told her father she wanted to marry Tender instead.
  • Spike asks Flash what girl is "his type", after remembering how he said Purity wasn't his type. Flash admits he isn't sure but will probably know what kind of girl he likes when he meets her. Springer just face palms at this and moans "Oh brother..." in his own language, basically confirming he is a Shipper on Deck for Flash and Twilight.
  • Both Spike and the Team Shadow Grunts are disappointed when they find the treasure room in the Mountain's Tomb and discover it is just filled with books. Rocky Road, Twilight, and Cadance all think it is the greatest treasure of all though for providing information on the Crustal Empire. Ironically though, during a battle with the grunts, a mural is destroyed, revealing an entire room filled treasure like chests, gold coins, silver cups, and gems. Grand actually rubs this in the defeated grunts faces.
Grand: Well, looks like we owe you our thanks. Not only did you help us find more treasure, you also helped us find an easier way out of this tomb.
    Grunt 1: (low laugh) You're...welcome?
Grunt 2: Don't suppose this means you'll let us go? (Grand shakes his head) Didn't think so.
  • Flash and Grand wonder why Team Shadow would leave such an important mission to two clearly low level grunts. The next scene with Sombra and Doom Raizer reveals that the two Grunts were actually sent on a fool's errand, clearly not expected to find anything due to Sombra thinking the legends were not true.
  • Heath Burns and Blazard search for the Dragonheart Orb, a supposedly rare item that allows Blazzard to evolve into Blazegon. This item is apparently so rare, that Big Score thinks it might be the very last one on to exist, and plans to steal it so he can sell it for a high price. After Heath gets the orb and uses it on Blazzard to evolve him, Spike asks Hydraworm and Burroworm, the guardians of the orb, what they will do now that it is gone. Burroworm just comes out with another Dragonheart Orb, and Hydraworm puts it in place of the old one. Twilight's stunned reaction at this and trying to comprehend it only makes the two guardians laugh before leaving.
  • When Heath's Blazegon easily defeats Big Score and his cronies and sends them blasting off like usual, Cadance, who has never encountered the three of them before, gasps at this and says she hopes they are alright. Flash assures her they're fine, since they are used to it by now.
  • When everyone is looking over the stain glass windows of the various Legendary Pokémon in Equestria, when Flash explains to Sombra how they met Eclixie and saved it from Mechano, he suddenly asks his friends whatever happened to him anyway, with them only able to shrug.
  • When everyone starts putting together what Team Shadow's plans might be from their recent activities and actually start to put things together and that their plans might relate to the Crystal Heart somehow, they are doing it right in front of Sombra, who unknown to them is the leader of Team Shadow, and he just tries to maintain the best poker face he can while clearly having an internal Oh, Crap!. When they realize that Team Shadow might have stolen half of the Crystal Heart from the tomb in the Grand Desert and will be coming for the piece in the Crystal Empire, Sombra tries to discreetly throw them off the trail by saying this is all just speculation. He almost gives himself away though by calling the other half a "Crystal Fragment". Luna notices him say it, but simply says that's another good name for it.
  • During Team Shadow's attack on the Crystal Empire, Shining Armor chases after Chrysalis when she gets her hands on one of the suitcases. Chrysalis takes the opportunity to flirt with Shining Armor when he catches up to her, saying if he wasn't already married she'd think he had a thing for her, causing Shining to cringe at the suggestion. Later during their battle, when Chrysalis finds a chance to escape on a Warp Tile she mockingly waves him goodbye and calls out "Later handsome!" to him.
  • When it seems like Chrysalis and the grunts have successfully escaped with the Heart Fragment and Shadow Spear, Chrysalis opens one of the cases to look at her prize. But instead of the fragment, the case is empty except for a small note, a cartoonish sketch of Shining Armor sticking his tongue out with a taunting message 'fooled ya'. When the other case is empty too, Chrysalis just lets out a Big "NO!" at this turn of events.
  • When Flash and his friends leave the Crystal Empire, Shining and Cadance briefly talk about the chances of Flash being the one to finally defeat Shining. Shining says Flash might be the one to beat him, because "he's just as big a loser as [he] was at his age".
  • The Avalanche Sled Race everyone competes in has some pretty funny antics. Due to the course design the racers slowly crash or go off-course and are eliminated one by one until it is down to just Double Diamond and Trixie. It almost feels like the kind of antics you'd expect to see in Mario Kart.
    • When Twilight is eliminated from the race, Spike, watching from the stands snaps his fingers and comments "Ah... Shiinotic."
  • When Yona sees Flash use his Pokedex, she looks at it in wide-eye fascination and calls it a "magic talky box". Turns out, the village doesn't use any technology except for their own self made Poké Balls.
  • After Flash hears how Chief Rutherford has a Mamoswine, and its the strongest Pokémon in the tribe, he challenges Rutherford to a battle, which is accepted. Riptide and Mamoswine prepare to battle... only for the story to cut to the next day. We never learn who won the battle.
  • When Team Shadow experiments with the Altar of Summons with the piece of Crystal Heart they have after Doom's encouragement, they find they can still open portals but not to where they are hoping without the other half. Doom laments that nothing was summoned. He later defends his actions to Chrysalis when she says he could have summoned a Legendary that could destroy the altar like a Groudon, with him saying just because they opened a portal what are the odds there'd be Legendary Pokémon on the other side? He is completely unaware that his little test ended up pulling a Heatran from its home to a different part of the mountain. Additionally, Heatran only ends up attacking Flash and his friends when they encounter it, instead of Team Shadow, the one's who actually summoned it, making it something of an Outside-Context Problem to Flash and the others.
  • Not only is Team Shadow never aware of Heatran's presence before another portal opens to take it home, but due to it attacking Flash's group, they end up cutting through Mount Tartarus instead of going over it. This causes them to avoid running into Team Shadow, and thus the buildup to the two groups running into each other from the previous chapter is subverted, with that particular showdown needing to wait a few more chapters.
  • There's something funny about how not long after Flash and his friends finally arrive in Dragonia City, so Flash can face the toughest Gym Leader in Equestria, Torch chooses that exact day to retire, thus making him The Unfought.
  • During Sombra's Motive Rant, when he declares that under his leadership everyone in Equestria will need to run everything by him first for his approval before they can innovate anything, Spike calls that boring and asks if people will need to ask what color shirt they're allowed to wear while he's at it. Sombra replies "Maybe," and explains the need for absolute security.
  • After Flash makes his broadcast to the Region asking every trainer to come and help him stop Sombra, the first trainer to arrive is none other than Lightning Blitz, to the surprise of everyone present. Cadance even gasps "You?!" upon seeing him. Luckily for everyone though the other trainers begin arriving right behind him, so all hope is not lost.
  • Before Alicormony departs, while she is saying she can see the future is in good hands she uses the term "my little Pokémon". Doesn't have quite the same ring as "My Little Pony" but it fits the setting regardless.
  • When explaining the rules for the preliminaries to the Equestria League, the Professors show the trainers a video that demonstrates what they will do. A cartoon version of Shining Armor and his Galladin come to a door in the caves and are eventually joined by a cartoon version of Grand and his Hariyama. When explaining how the two trainers must battle, Galladin and Hariyam charge at each other and are surrounded by a Big Ball of Violence, until it quickly disappears showing Galladin victorious over Hariyama. This sight just makes Lightning growl in anger and clench his fist.
  • During Flash and Trixie's match:
    • When Astro battles Slowking he bites down on it with Crunch and carries him up to the roof of the canopy. Slowking manages to free itself with Ice Beam, causing Astro to let go, and Slowking shows no expression as it plummets toward the ground.
    • Slowking manages to stop itself from falling by using Psychic on a tree branch and using it to surf through the air.
      Mic: Wow! Hang ten dudes!
    • During Viper and Hatterene's intense battle, Hatterene grabs Viper with her hair, restraining him as she plants another Draining Kiss on him. But, Viper manages to fight through the pain of his energy being drained and pulls his head up to directly face her, before delivering a point blank Flamethrower right to her face.
  • Present Mic apparently has some skills as a sculptor, saying he made the statues that are on the field during Flash and Heath's battle. He isn't that pleased when Heath has Blazegon melt them.
  • During Flash and Applejack's battle, Skyler gets pinned down by Daisyjo's horns.
Luna: Looks like Tornavian's struck between a cow and a hard place.
  • At the climax of Flash and Lightning's match in the finals Lightning ends up having a Villainous Breakdown when Riptide won't stay down and lose already and the whole crowd keeps cheering on Flash instead of seeing him as just a loser like Lightning does. This eventually culminates in him screaming like a mad man that he is going to destroy Flash. While seeing Lightning breakdown like this is pretty satisfying, the entire crowd watching flinches at his remarks, with Grand Hoof facepalming in embarrassment and Trixie commenting that Lightning has "control issues".
  • When Flash starts to head out of Canterlot so he and his Pokémon can train for their battle with Shining Armor over the next few days, he finds himself ambushed by a bunch of reporters that ask him a ton of questions, ranging from his strategy and feelings about the upcoming championship battle, to his thoughts on theories people make about him and even the time he traveled with Cadance. His friends quickly arrive to help save him from the reporters, with Pinkie using a bazooka-like weapon to create a cloud of smoke and confetti to cover his escape.
  • While Flash and his Pokémon set up camp, they create a bed for themselves out of trees and leaves. Once they are done, Astro cannonballs into the makeshift bed right away, causing the leaves to rain down on the rest of the group. The rest of the Pokémon all start shouting at the youngest member of their team, who just blushes and pokes his claws together in embarrassment.
  • When it starts to rain one day, Flash and his team take shelter in a nearby cave, and Flash sends a message to everyone via the journal Twilight gave them letting them know he is okay, cracking a joke at Twilight's expense in the process. Everyone else laughs at Twilight's embarrassment over it, and Twilight just comments that's the last time she ever worries about Flash. Sunset immediately says that it won't be, causing everyone to laugh again.
  • During the montage showing everyone watching the championship match around Equestria, nearly everyone Flash has met is shown to be excited, or are cheering for him. The only two people shown not excited or happy at all by the match though? Timber Spruce and Wingill. They are both clearly angry and bitter that the guy who beat them is so close to becoming champion. Wingill and Fin both growl at the screen when Flash is introduced, but Timber actually manages to top their pettiness with Gloriosa needing to literally drag across the room to the tv, and his own Breloom helping her force him into the couch to watch the match.
  • Doubeling as an awesome moment, the end of the battle between Skyler and Banshriek has Flash tell Skyler to finish Banshriek with Giga Impact. Nearly everyone watch, including Flash's friends, panic and think he has made a rookie mistake due to Normal-type moves not working on Ghost-types, not knowing about Skyler's Scrappy ability. Twilight, Spike, and Doc all just smile and remain quite at the display, wanting to see everyone's surprise. Even Shining Armor is fooled, thinking Flash has just made a mistake, only to realize too late that it's a trap and try to tell Banshriek to dodge it. Banshriek is confused by this order but has no time to dodge, and ends up getting hit by the attack instead of phasing through like it expected, to the mutual shock of almost everyone else.
  • After Flash is inducted into the Hall of Fame, he is once again bombarded by the press and pulled into a room with reporters to answer their questions. He ends up answers questions for three hours, with him questioning how there could even be enough questions to fill that much time.

Pokémon the Movie: Rival and Darkness
  • While exploring Horizon City, a girl that is a fan of Flash's asks him if she can get a photo with him. After he agrees and she hands Doc the camera to take the picture, she grabs Flash's arm in a hug. Flash notices Twilight crossing her arms and giving a small glare at this.
  • Flash and his friends learn there is a tournament being held in the city, and Flash tries to enter it as a warm up for the Equestria League. Unfortunately, he learns the last spot was filled a few minutes before he arrived. Flash lets out a dramatic Big "NO!" and falls to his knees.
  • Flash still catches attention when he and his friends arrive at the Pokémon Center. Lightning Blitz is clearly annoyed and jealous that Flash is getting all the attention.
  • Spike has a horrified reaction when Twilight says she wants to take a tour of Horizon Incorporated. Twilight anticipated his reaction and grabs him by the collar to stop him from making a break for it.
  • In order to visit the temple the town was built around, they discover it is tradition to climb an Absurdly Long Stairway of "only three hundred a seventy four" steps. Everyone ends up getting winded on their way up, with Spike falling over and crawling up the last few steps. Meanwhile, Starlight, Sunburst, and Cozy are all completely fine, seeing it as a little workout. Starlight tells everyone they get used to it.
  • When it seems like Cozy Glow's attempt to revive Centirek has failed, and she finds herself being glared at by everyone else and still in their grasp. She can only give a nervous chuckle and tries to excuse herself by claiming she is "just a kid that doesn't know better". Nobody buys that.
  • When Centirek breaks free from its stone prison, Cozy Glow shouts "IT'S ALIVE!" in crazed joy.
