The film, despite its serious tone and subject matter, isn't without Bong Joon-Ho's trademark brand of offbeat humour.
- The Great Pig Chase through downtown Seoul, particularly when poor hippopotamus-sized Okja ends up in a shopping mall. "Bull in a china shop" doesn't begin to describe the resulting chaos, and every step of the way, there's company men and ALF trying their best to keep pace. After Okja's accidental rampage is finally stopped, the ALF members and company men battle it out — with tranquilizer guns and umbrellas.
- As Mija, Okja, and the ALF finally make their escape from the Mirando guards, they whittle down their pursuers, and soon only Mundo is left running after them. Mija rubs Okja's rear, stimulating her into using her high-pressure ejection system and defecating on him.:ALF member: He's having a shitty day.
- Half-covered in pig shit, Mundo soon gives up and gets out his cell phone.Mundo: Hey baby, it's me. What kind of body wash have you got?
- The Running Gag of anyone who's not Hee-bong, Mija, or Okja being absolutely exhausted climbing up the mountain to visit their home.
- While Wilcox is filming his show in English:Mija: What's he saying?Hee-bong: Dunno.
