• From 'Rainy Season', John Graham talking to his wife Elise about the forgetful Henry Eden who runs the store:
  "Judging from his cigarettes, he's reached the stage of life where he's meeting everyone for the first time. Even his oldest friends".
  • When Laura visits Henry's store after the frog rain and has this to say about his flatulent dog Toby:
  "My head hurts like a bastard, and the last thing I need this morning is listening to that dog play Hail Columbia out of its asshole".
  • The dog isnt exactly in the springtime of youth either, when the Grahams first arrive at the store, Elise starts to wonder if the dog is dead because it doesnt move an inch even when Henry drops tobacco crumbles from his cigarette on him.
• The whole premise of 'You Know They Got A Hell Of A Band'. Yes, it's a hellish dimension where people are enslaved for eternity, and from which no escape is possible, but the fact that the place is run by undead classic rock stars makes it absolutely hilarious.
• After the Bradbury children send their Wicked Stepfather off into space via their house's slow transformation into a rocket ship, youngest Melissa wonders if someone up there "wants to hear about the Normans and the Sexies" (a mispronouncing of Saxons but Lissa is only six years old).
• 'Chattery Teeth' is an odd mixture of horror and hilarity. Hogan describes the titular oversized novelty teeth being "Cool as a mountain breeze", and when he sees them again near the end of the story, he imagines them telling him "Hello there. Did you forget about me? I didn’t forget YOU, my friend. Not at all."
  • While still recovering by the side of the road after a car crash, Hogan watches the Chattery Teeth dragging the murderous hitchhiker he picked up away. A few minutes later, he hears a rhythmic chittering noise as the teeth approach again, and his brain makes up lyrics to the rhythm.
  "Clickety-clickety-clickety-clack! We are the teeth, and we’re coming back! Watch us walk, watch us chew, we ate him, now we’ll eat you!"
