Ladies and gentlemen, our elegant and demure young idols.

What happens when you put 12 quirky, youthful, hungry and competitive girls together? IZ*MESS, that's who! Here's a small peek of what you can expect (... or not) from IZ*ONE's finest:

IZ*ONE CHU

    open/close all folders
     (Season 01) IZ*ONE CHU

(Season 02) IZ*ONE CHU: Secret Friend

(Season 03) IZ*ONE CHU: Fantasy Campus
  • The girls are finally in a newer, more spacious dorm, which means more room for chaos!
  • As if Minju hadn't suffered enough in Season 02, Season 03 opens with her trying out Yena's new hoverboard. The results go about as well as you'd expect.
  • Fantasy Campus upgrades the girls into a college/university setting where they play the roles of students. Naturally, Eunbi takes quickly to the role of a student officer who insists on collecting the student council fee every five minutes. Yena, Chaeyeon, and Yuri assume the role of the mean girls while Sakura, Minju, and Nako attempt to play the role of the school idols... only to fail miserably because Sakura and Minju tripped over each other upon entering while Nako was too small to be even noticed behind the duo.
The rest of IZ*ONE: What's that red blur (referring to Nako) behind you two?
  • Wonyoung is late for orientation, so Yujin convinces Yena into helping her fake Wonyoung's attendance. It would've succeeded too, had Wonyoung not burst into the room in a panic yelling "I'm not late, am I!?"
  • For one game, Eunbi pulls up a slide containing candid shots of each member that are... less than aesthetically pleasing, to say the least. They attempt to correct this by making each member play a game where they must have no bad pictures taken, except Minju keeps making expressions and poses that make her look like an angry socialite demanding a refund for her designer bag.
  • The girls make a contest out of flirting with Si— ahem, the phone Artificial Intelligence robot and decide that whoever gets the AI to respond "I love you back" wins. Nobody wins — Sakura is called "cool" instead of her confession getting reciprocated, Chaewon is dissed, Yuri is sidetracked, Minju is not recognized, and Yena is outright coldly rejected.
  • Yena nearly swallows an insect by accident while the girls are having their lunch and Yuri being the only person to notice it.
  • The girls immediately run and play in the wide garden park after stuffing themselves full with pizza and chicken for lunch. Their leader would usually be the first to scold their ears off for going off so recklessly... except eldest member Eunbi is the first to run off and play, followed by the next eldest Sakura.
  • Nako attempts a cartwheel to show off and succeeds, except she loses one of her sneakers (and her insole in the process. Cue Yena and the other members running around while carrying her shoe and insole (separately) while poor Nako has to chase after them while hopping on one foot.
  • The members ask Eunbi for tips on how to take a beautiful candid shot so she suggests tussling their hair for a "wilder" look. It sort of works on Sakura whose photo is enhanced by the new look, but when Eunbi does the same to Yujin, the latter's photo looks more like a middle schooler's awkward photo from the early 2000s.
  • All the members are taking photos of each other in the beautiful backdrop of the university's garden park... until Minjoo's turn arrives, when Yena and Yuri accidentally show up in the background, trying to take pictures of their own. Cue Sakura deadass acting like a PR manager (complete with an accompanying caption) shooing off the two girls for the "perfect shot".
    • Speaking of Yena and Yuri, the former keeps persuading the latter to take her pictures at very low angles to make herself look taller.
  • IZ*ONE attempt to work as part-time baristas at a cafe. Not only do they raid the ingredient toppings as they mix drinks, they also manage to create a horrible-tasting strawberry/chocolate smoothie and nearly burn down their dalgona candy-making station if not for Hyewon's timely intervention.
  • The girls serve their creations to passersby, college entrance test examinees, and other young adults who have come of age. While some of the strangers recognize IZ*ONE, many don't — one lady in particular recognizes them as a famous idol group and is at least aware of Sakura, but when asked to identify Yena, she simply calls her "the duck".
  • Meta example: much of one of the key moments of Season 03, the surprise drive-in theater concert was spoiled by K-WIZ*ONE fansites via social media. What's hilarious is the aftermath which was not actually shown in the final broadcast after the concert ended, fansites who were staking out on top of the trees were promptly chased down by security in an almost darkly comedic way, given the Mood Whiplash. It has to be seen to be believed.

     (Season 04) IZ*ONE CHU: ON:TACT
  • The season hasn't even started yet but previews have already shown Nako losing her shoe yet again when trying to play jegichagi note , almost hitting Eunbi and Sakura face-first in the process.
  • While this season only has two episodes like Fantasy Campus, it's already chock full of iconic gut-bustingly hilarious moments. A Youtuber managed to compile moments from the first episode alone.
  • The much-hyped real-life PUBG match of IZ*ONE appears in Episode 02. Highlights include:
    • Chaewon taking a few cues from her roommate Yena and messing with the military instructor'snote  gruff, no-nonsense attitude.
    • The irony that Kim Minju of all people would do exceptionally well in the shooting range training.note
    • The gamers clearly having the time of their lives being in their comfort zone, especially Sakura whose idea of "stealth kills"... ain't exactly it. For comparison, here she is playing PUBG on mobile versus acting out one in real life.note
    • The shooting match note  ends up claiming some "casualties", with the girls milking their "deaths" and those of their comrades' for all its dramatic worth. Then Gilligan Cut to the "slain" members casually sitting in the back room observing their teammates.

Other IZ*ONE-centric Shows

     ENOZI Cam / ARCADE

ENOZI Cam

ARCADE / ARCADE II

  • ARCADE is a show where IZ*ONE members are given specific games and challenges to win, so every episode is practically a goldmine of laughs. Special mention, however, goes to Episode 08 where they all play a game of zombie tag.
  • Season 2 of ARCADE features mostly structured activities, but special mention goes to certain episodes. A compilation of Season 2's mess is also available.
    • Episode 08 where half of the girls eat foods which they listed as their favorites. Special mention goes to the fact that this episode's release was delayed for unknown reasons, but a watch of the episode reveals why: Nako performed More and More by Music/TWICE and Hyewon sang Justin Bieber's 10,000 Hours which caused copyright strikes. The editors circumvent this by replacing the music... with Secret Story of the Swan and Merry Go Round, respectively.
    • Episode 13 where the girls play a Mafia game variantnote  and they keep guessing the wrong people again and again.

     IZ*ONE CITY
  • All of it, really — the whole show is centered around displaying IZ*ONE's talents and skills in variety in order to attract fans, after all:
    • The girls enter the set looking all dolled-up and pretty before rambunctiously charging all-in within the span of about three seconds. They then spend the rest of the "entrance ceremony" butchering the reading of the school's "regulations".
    • The first activity pits IZ*ONE as two teams in athletics. Not only do they fluster the crew, but they also destroy the set logo. Within the first game.
    • The second activity has the girls do each other's makeup with special conditions (e.g. wearing boxing gloves, jumping on a trampoline, wearing binoculars). Needless to say, the end results have terribly mortified their makeup stylist.
    • The entirety of the Rabbit Song game where members must compete for the chance to pick out a lunch set.
    • The third activity places the twelve idols in a charades game where they must correctly guess the song title and artist based on the choreography. All is well, right up until Hyewon, Sakura, and Minju step up to the stage and all hell breaks loose.
    • The final activity has them testing out their acting chops with three scenarios: a dramatic scene note , a comedic scenenote , and a cute scene. Their acting must be seen to be believed.
  • A few months after filming, the girls (minus Yena and Yuri) are re-invited into a studio to react at a compilation of their best scenes:
    • Pretty much everyone is horrified at the amount of "brazen acts" they performed on camera, such as:
    • The reveal that Hitomi's words went viral on Naver's real-time search after the makeup episode aired because they thought it was a trendy phrase used in Tochigi (when in fact she just misused her Korean words by accident).
    • Sakura is asked to act out a scene as she is (technically) the one with the most acting experience. Per Minju's request, she acts out a fighting scene, so Sakura invites Nako to help her. Exaggerated when Hitomi is asked to join the re-enactment with her new catchphrase as well.

     IZ*ONE Eat-Ting Trip

Season 01

  • At the start of the series, the girls are brought in for interviews with a travel agency on which places they'd like to visit on a trip. Various members answer places known for good food and/or beach sceneries in Korea note , until Yujin veers off-script and blatantly asks to go to the US, so Wonyoung follows her up by requesting that they go to Los Angeles (again) specifically.
  • Poor puppy Yujin and her increasingly arduous quest of obtaining snow crab, courtesy of often being in the same team as Minju.
  • Heck, any team that has Minju is guaranteed to lose.
    • Minju being given a handicap more than once with each group game she competes in and losing every time.
    • A subversion does exist to the above rule! Wonyoung, Minju, Sakura, and Nako go to a mini-golf course and compete in pairs for a chance to be treated with free snacks by the losing team. Wonyoung and Minju win, but due to the scoring system of mini-golf, the scores are 0 (for Team Wonyoung-Minju) versus -5 (for Team Sakura-Nako)
  • Chaewon feeling outraged at being selected by her team to participate in the long jump competition because they were supposed to pick the weakest athletes of the group to play.
  • The way Yena desperately wanted to avoid eating potato ice creamnote . No points for guessing which dessert team she got randomly assigned to. She ends up enjoying it more than she thought.
  • Eunbi forgetting the term "french fries" and being at a loss for words when trying to describe the flavor and texture of potato ice cream.
  • Each team complaining about being given only 20,000 KRW to buy their assigned snacks and independently thinking of ways to borrow money from the production team and/or coax the business owners into giving them free food.
    • The fried chicken team (Chaewon, Yuri, Hyewon, and Hitomi) attempt to convince Hitomi into performing aegyo for freebies. She promptly shuts them down, saying she "doesn't do that [acting cute stuff] anymore".note
    • The soondae team (Wonyoung, Minju, Sakura, and Nako) agonize over having to reduce the number of dishes they'll order, only to have the owner give them a whole assortment of soondae and takeout for free because they're pretty.
    • The dessert team (Eunbi, Chaeyeon, Yena, and Yujin) attempt to impress the store owners of a bakery shop in order to get free drinks, but before that Eunbi offers to wash their dishes instead.
  • While at the mini golf course, the soondae team spots a pile of brick tiles placed at a corner. Nako idly recalls that Sakura once managed to karate chop a whole stack of solid roofing tiles in Japan, which Sakura reaffirms — to Minju and Wonyoung's extreme shock.
Wonyoung: Remind me to never get on unnie's bad side...
  • Another group mission has the girls working in pairs to gather cooking ingredients for a late night tteokbokki snack with the catch that they cannot know what the other pairs bought and must rely on their knowledge of each other's food preferences in order to avoid buying the same things or skipping over essential ingredients. Only Chaeyeon and Hitomi get the closest to accurately guessing what the others might have purchased while everyone else just barely manages to buy the essentials since no one bought vegetables and almost half the group bought packages of meat. The whole meal turns out to be more meat than rice cake.
  • Sakura and Eunbi working together to outsmart Yena and Nako during the mission to purchase cooking ingredients despite soundly losing at rock-paper-scissors to determine who goes last. The betrayal is enough to cause Yena to be at a loss for words and to cause Nako to complain sourly in straight, uninterrupted Korean.
  • The girls are given one final mission in order to eat at a high-class restaurant for dinner where they must find hints and several puzzle pieces that would reveal the address of the place. However, the staff have assigned three spies among the members to disrupt the search and monopolize the expensive dinner for themselves. Yuri and Nako were quickly revealed to the audience as the first two spies, with the last one being saved for the final episode. Once news of a mole reaches the group (and that they would be wearing an identifiable mark/accessory on themselves), they immediately suspect Yena and Minju as the spies. Only to find out that, no, neither of them were the spy, who turned out to be Yujin wearing the mark on her hair the entire time! Good thing that Yuri requested that everyone still gets to enjoy the dinner even if the spies end up succeeding.
    • Made doubly hilarious by the editing when IZ*ONE was suspecting Yena and Minju as the spies concurrently planning their next move while the pair in question was more absorbed in observing a colony of ants than regrouping with the others at that moment.
  • Bonus footage of IZ*ONE Try Not to Dance Challenge going about as well as anyone would expect when you force idols to stay put in their seats. Against all odds, only Eunbi and Hyewon win the challenge.

Season 02

Season 03

Cheat-Ting Trip Season 01

  • What is otherwise an emotional onscreen reunion (albeit via video call) among the trio and Hitomi is rudely interrupted by a poor Wi-Fi signal.

Cheat-Ting Trip Season 02

  • Season 02 of Cheat-Ting Trip might as well be called the season of actresses given that the going trio involves improv masters Hyewon and Yuri alongside their captain Eunbi.
  • The previews open up with immediate parodies of school dramas, Penthouse, and even Crash Landing On You, milking the shipping wars for all its worth.
  • Hyewon angrily sulking at the traditional games mission.

Other Variety / Reality Shows / Showcase Appearances

     Pre-Debut (Pre-Produce 48)

     Pre-Debut (Produce 48)

     Post-Debut (Non-IZ*ONE-centric Shows)
  • IZ*ONE members guesting on Gag Concert.
  • Sakura Miyawaki, IZ*ONE's main dancer and creative choreographer.
  • Hyewon, anime fan extraordinaire, promoted Season 3 of Attack on Titan of all things instead of IZ*ONE's new album release when all 12 members were invited on Idol Room.note
  • A whole compilation of Yena being Yena as part of the fixed cast in Prison Life of Fools.
  • Sakura trying (and failing) to contain her fangirling when Wendy guested on her show with Kang Hodong, Everybody's Kitchen.
  • Both episodes of IZ*ONE's guestings on Weekly Idol, natch. The second one even got alluded to on their showcase VCR for Vampire, where Sakura asked Nako if she's actually human.
  • IZ*ONE appearing on Japanese variety TV for the first time where among other things:
  • Wonyoung accidentally calling Nako "hentai" on a Buzz Rhythm interview.
  • All 12 members having their shining moments of comedy on Shabekuri 007.
  • The entire jumping rope fiasco between the unnie line and the maknae line in Human Intelligence. note
  • On the Hello Counselor episode with Yena and Wonyoung guesting, one of the contestants has nieces and nephews whom he regularly plays with and cares for. When the hosts attempt to invite the kids onstage, the girls happily cling to Yena while the boy refuses to go with poor Wonyoung.
Shin Dongyeop: Don't waste this chance! You'll regret this when you get older!!
  • On the other Hello Counselor episode with Eunbi and Minju as guests instead, Eunbi clearly has a hard time containing her frustrations towards one of the relatives that she accidentally interrupts Yeongja's speech and has to resort to punching her pillow in her extreme anger.
  • Eunbi seems to have a lot of moments like these. On her appearance in the King of Masked Singer as a guest panelist with Wonyoung and Hyewon note , she kept confidently guessing the identities of the mystery singers as idols or artists younger than her, when in fact almost all of them were not only veterans but also equal or greater than her in age.
  • IZ*ONE on K-Bap Star: a dream come true. Aside from getting to enjoy the good food, the girls played a game with the hosts who had to guess the title of their latest comeback single ("Secret Story of the Swan") based on the performance (lyrics, choreography). The hosts who found it fun to tease the members in order to repeat their performance immediately exposed Chaeyeon for sneakily attempting to give the answer while moving in formation.
    • A later episode in K-Bap Star with GFriend as guests had the hosts reveal that feeding IZ*ONE cost approximately 30,000 USD, to the shock of GFRIEND who warily asked their manager about their own expenses note .
  • IZ*ONE going home after taping. That is all.
  • Minju failing miserably at charades, not remembering the choreography to any non-IZ*ONE songs and even identifying ITZY's ICY as TWICE's FANCY note , among others. Everyone promptly chews her out for the last one note , causing Minju to prostrate on the floor in bitter regret.
Minju, wailing: I swear, I know all the songs! I... just don't remember the dance steps to them!
  • Chaewon and Yena's disco rendition of IZ*ONE's debut title track, La vie en Rose, must be heard to be believed.
  • The final game of Chemi Room came down to a post-it blowing competition between Chaeyeon and Sakura. Chaeyeon being Chaeyeon easily takes off more than half of the post-it notes all over Sakura's body, but Sakura being Sakura could barely blow off a post-it note before collapsing to the floor in defeat. Fortunately, the prize was a pair of couple pajamas and the Chemi Queen (aka the winner) got to choose which member she'd like to give the other half of the prize with. If you've been reading the entries since the start of this page (or have been a fan of this group for some time now), you get three guesses as to who Chaeyeon picks, and the first two don't count. Fittingly enough, nobody in the room is surprised.
Eunbi, walking off-screen: Enjoy well, ya newlyweds!
  • Their whole guesting appearance on Knowing Brothers where, in a fresh change of pace, Yena and Chaewon become the butt of jokes because of their amusing reactions while Hyewon successfully manages to fool the hosts with her impressive acting skills.
  • On their guesting in Problematic Men, Wonyoung accidentally disses her members' English skills, while Yujin bluffs her way into impressing Tyler with her fluent pronunciation (albeit poor vocabulary) in English, and Hyewon keeps getting the correct answers despite being unable to convince her teammates (or anyone, for that matter) that she solved the problems given.
  • MBC staff seem to enjoy giving Minju intentionally cringey lines or placing her in embarrassing situations:
    • On her first episode alone as the new Music Core MC, she calls herself Minju Angel, which not only goes viral/trending nationwide (and in some countries overseas) but to the point that her own members tease her about it, especially Chaewon who takes every opportunity to tease her about it.note
      • Came full circle when Minju performed a snippet of the Minju Angel Song on national television explicitly to fulfill Chaewon's "last wish".
      • A sneaky promotion of Oneiric Diary's title track in another episode.
      • The skits she does with Chani and Hyunjin, bless their hearts, are often embarrassing but hilarious nonetheless.
      • On the episode where SSAK 3note  made their TV debut, the trio appeared noticeably nervous about doing the interview with them, to the point that the "rookie unit" easily slipped back in their veteran roles and the whole segment looked like they were the ones interviewing Minju and the boys instead of the other way around!
  • Wonyoung eagerly learning the ropes of Korean variety with Kwangsoo in Running Man (while trying to rein in his greedy tendencies in vain); during a break, she takes a selca with Kwangsoo who offers his phone number to Wonyoung in order to receive the photo, only for Wonyoung to ask if he knows how to use 0 so she could share it.
    • On the same guest appearance, Jaesuk asks Wonyoung about her height and she surly responds that it is around 171cm note . When Jaesuk follows it up with a question about what's been stressing Wonyoung, she replies that she's stressed out by people asking about her height.note
    • Hilariously, Wonyoung's guest appearance on Running Man caused not only her name (and related terms) to trend on Naver's realtime searches in three different spotsnote , but she also caused AirDrop to trend!
  • The recent MUPLY Q&A interview for One-Reeler promotions is also a mine of hilarity, as the questions that the members will be answering were written by other members themselves:
    • Hitomi gets a question asking her to blurt out numbers for a lotto ticket. Though baffled, she does it anyway, and Eunbi immediately points out that the show director is writing them down as they speak. Chaeyeon wrote the quesiton.
    • Wonyoung gets not a question so much as a dare that instructs her to spin around 12 times before attempting a split pose from Fiesta. The suspects behind this little scheme immediately get exposed and one of them is eventually forced to do the dare in Wonyoung's place. It's Chaewon, who suffers instant karma much like her labelmate Eunbi during Produce 48 as mentioned above.
    • Yuri gets a question asking her to reveal a piece of information that only she knows about the other members. Her instinct is to ask for a pass, but they wouldn't let her, so instead she talks about her roommate Nako... and her mission to recruit her into eating chicken feet.
    • Chaewon gets a question asking what article of clothing she puts on first when dressing up. Fairly shocking question but normal answers such as top-first or pants-first... until Eunbi reveals that she wears her socks first.
    • Hyewon gets a question asking her when was the last time her heart skipped a beat. It was when she watched Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2.
    • Sakura gets asked if she believes in the existence of aliens. Before she could even pipe in her answer, the rest of the group quickly descend into a debate about whether they are real or not. Sakura firmly says no and does not believe, but Wonyoung and Nako immediately counter her with separate anecdotes of their own much to her chagrin.
  • Another MUPLY video with IZ*ONE playing the Day Mode, Night Mode Dance game. Every time the lights go off (aka "Night Mode"), the girls must avoid triggering the sound-sensitive lights all while dancing to their intensive choreography. At the end of their performance, the total number of triggers is converted into errors subtracted from a fixed number of minutes that would allow the girls to get some rest. Because being quiet is IZ*ONE's number one specialty.
  • The entirety of the Mafia dance video with Dingo. Three members are assigned to the role of the Mafia and one as the Police where the former must deceive their members into believing that they're dancing to the same song and the latter must identify who is faking among the group. Hilarity Ensues as the girls descend into a spiral of accusations and false leads.

Meta / Fan Edits / Other

  • This whole Youtube channel is a goldmine of high-quality edits, in flavors of hilarious, cute, and awesome. Their most famous works include:
  • Someone tried to make a(n) (un)helpful guide to differentiating the Joyuriz. It's about as (un)helpful as it gets.
  • Fans pointing out that IZ*ONE — girl group album record-breakers and brand-wearing endorsers who reportedly spend up to and (likely beyond) 30,000 USD on a monthly food budget — still live in dorms with broken lights/televisions/aircons and eat expired bagels randomly found in their fridges.
  • More compilations of IZ*ONE dancing to KFC.
  • How to learn the alphabet with IZ*ONE.
  • 1st week sales for IZ*ONE's Japanese debut album, Suki to Iwasetai, reached #2 on Billboard Japan charts with 303,745 copies and lost to TWICE's Candy Pop by one vote (303,746). The coincidence wouldn't have been half as funny had Nako not come out during a live broadcast bragging about her new Candy Pop album purchase, so fans had a field day joking about how Nako was such a dedicated ONCE that it was her purchase that broke the album sales tie in favor of her biases over her own group.
  • Fans find entertainment in the struggles of whoever's in charge of most social media posts for IZ*ONE's officials, often jokingly attributing such press mistakes to "OTR intern-nim". Among other things they've managed to mess up:
    • Accidentally scheduling an invitation to watch Minju's Music Core episode at 03:00 AM instead of 03:00 PM, waking up many a-confused Korean WIZ*ONE and greatly amusing international WIZ*ONE.
    • Accidentally posting Nako's selfies on the staff account instead of the official account.
