Just one of the many strange universes.
Simply put, there's Surreal Humor, and then there's this entire movie.

Spoilers off on all Moments pages. You Have Been Warned!

  • The flashback to Evelyn's birth, with the surgeon apologizing to Gong Gong about having a daughter and Gong Gong's disappointed expression.
  • Deirdre's awards are a collection of... butt plugs.
    • Which, given her job, are probably supposed to be rubber stamps... or not.
  • During the fanny-pack fight scene, after Alpha!Waymond adds some heavy gravel to his pack, he's able to hit one of the Security Guards hard enough to send him pinwheeling over a divider. Another one of the guards immediately reacts, stepping into range with an, "Oh no, Craig!" only to immediately realize his mistake with an "Oh, fuck—" before getting mollywopped in the face just like Craig did not two seconds ago.
  • Evelyn somehow manages to jump into a universe where everyone has hot dogs for fingers, which prompts one observer from the Alpha Universe tech van to question how that could possibly be a feasible path for human evolution. Answer Cut to hundreds of thousands of years ago, where a group of hot-dog-fingered proto-humans are beating a normal-fingered proto-human to death, à la 2001: A Space Odyssey—right down to a squawking, beatless rendition of "Also Sprach Zarathustra".
    • The hot dog universe seems like a one-off gag at first, but it ends up being useful to the plot when Evelyn discovers that, having ungainly hands, the people in that universe have instead become very dexterous with their feet. This manifests in people softly caressing each other's faces with their feet.
    • There's also the fact that the hot dog universe's version of kissing involves placing the hot dog fingers into the other person's mouth, which then results in both of them secreting ketchup and mustard from their mouths, respectively.
  • Evelyn's explanation of the multiverse to her family involves her insistence that Ratatouille is actually a film about a cooking raccoon called Raccacoonie. Despite being tied up, Joy finds it Actually Pretty Funny, while Waymond happily says, "I like that movie!"
    • It becomes even wilder when we see a universe where Evelyn is a chef... and her golden-boy coworker turns out to be hiding a raccoon under his hat. And then helping him save Raccacoonie from animal control becomes a key part of winning. Did we also mention that the raccoon is voiced by Randy Newman?
    • It's even funnier when you consider how the early parts of the film are heavily influenced by The Matrix... yet somehow the only reference Evelyn can come up with for what's going on is her vague recollection of Ratatouille.
  • Evelyn not being able to pronounce "Jobu Tupaki" and at one point calling her "Juju Chewbacca".
    • Hell, the very name Jobu Tupaki is borderline impossible to take seriously.
  • In order to jump between universes, the jumper has to enact some statistical improbability (or as "our" Waymond says, "do something weird"). This includes two jumpers shoving butt plug-shaped trophies up their asses in order to find a universe where they have martial arts skills. Another has Evelyn wipe snot from Gong Gong's nose and stick her finger in his mouth, grossing out Waymond and Joy. And then there's the moment where an entire army of jumpers do random things to trigger their powers, which the script describes as an "orgy of stupid"; examples include singing "Ave Maria", photocopying their butt, suggestively licking a column, or aggressively humping a lamp.
    • Waymond's first attempt means having to have four straight paper cuts on the same spot. As he points out "paper cuts only happen when you're not trying!"
    • An early example is Waymond, in the middle of an obvious build up of tension before a fight with IRS security, carefully taking out and chewing a stick of lip-balm in order to access martial arts skills. Watching him do it obviously confuses both the security and Evelyn, but as it demonstrates verse jumping before it is explained to the audience, it's also likely to catch the viewer off guard.
  • After Bagelverse Deirdre verse jumps into the main universe Deirdre and staples a circle on her head. She howls like a werewolf.
  • Alpha Waymond reveals to Evelyn that she's so powerful because she's the worst. She's had so much potential and so many failed dreams that she's the worst Evelyn the multiverse has ever had, giving her the most number of jump destinations.
  • Several universes involve Evelyn and Jobu Tupaki manifesting as inanimate objects, such as a pair of piñatas. This reaches the height of absurdity when they jump to a universe where life never evolved at all, and they're forced to embody a pair of rocks. In this form, they can only converse via on-screen text, often rendered in all-lowercase for added deadpan effect, like they're texting. Jobu Tupaki freaks out when Evelyn makes her rock move.
    • Followed by Rock Evelyn slowly turning around to reveal a pair of googly eyes inexplicably glued on to it. Jobu Tupaki's text just sounds indignant as her rock also begins to move just to get away from Evelyn.
  • A24 has released posters for each alternate world Evelyn visits. Yes. Even Raccacoonie.
  • In the middle of their fight, Evelyn and one of the jumpers manage to hit each other right in their ear pieces, causing them to lose their fighting skills and resort to ineffectually limply slapping each other's hands.
  • Jobu Tupaki's fight against a group of police officers is utterly ridiculous, with Jobu turning herself and an officer into salsa dancers (with her as the man and him in a dress) to use him as a Bulletproof Human Shield or Jobu beating a security guard unconscious with a pair of giant dildos.
    • Speaking of dildos, that same security guard is the one who inserts Deirdre's trophy up his butt in order to induce a jump during a later fight.
  • Alpha Gong Gong saving Evelyn by slamming into Jobu Tupaki and sending her crashing through a wall. With his wheelchair.
  • The Alphaverse "Big Nose" fights by using her Pomeranian as a flail. Despite this, she freaks out whenever her dog gets harmed, such as when Evelyn severs its leash when it's launched at her, causing the dog to go flying through the air and bounce off the top of a cubicle.
  • A couple of Evelyn's blind jumps result in hilarious failure, such as a universe where she speaks with Waymond's voice and another where she is apparently a pigeon, as she communicates by cooing like one.
  • After Alphaverse Waymond abandons Evelyn believing she isn't the right one, the original Waymond returns to his body and panics over his hand being covered in paper cuts.
  • Evelyn's first reaction to seeing her daughter (Jobu Tupaki) wearing an Elvis costume is to ask "why does she look so stupid?"
  • When Jobu Tupaki gets shot and her blood splatters on Evelyn's face, it's revealed that the blood is actually "organic" ketchup. Evelyn pauses for a moment to wipe some of the ketchup from her face and taste it, just to confirm that it is indeed ketchup.
  • This exchange, if only for the fact that Jobu herself is genuinely taken aback by Evelyn's comment:
  • Cosmic horror implications aside, the reveal that the symbol for nihilism and despair is a literal Everything Bagel is pretty funny. And the symbol of anti-nihilism is Googly Eyes.
  • When the many versions Evelyn screams as she starts to lose her grip on her sanity, one of versions shown screaming is a crematory urn; represented as its lid shaking.
  • In the universe where Evelyn is a kung fu master, a shot shows she trained her pinkies so much they have their own bicep.
  • Her full name? Deirdre? Deirdre Beaubeirdre. Banana fana faux feirdre...
