While Dr Wood's encounter with the child is very much a heartwarming moment, his expression before allowing himself to be manhandled is this. He looks like he's about to make a grand sacrifice.
You have the option to buy the patients - and even though this results in the nurse wrapping them up in a box, it doesn't seem to affect the therapy progress at all.
