Danganronpa Class Swap - Hope's Peak Academy

    Prologue
  • This is how Mahiru's first conversation with Kazuichi ends:
    Mahiru:...you're one of those then...
Kazuichi: One of those? What's that supposed to mea- Hey don't just walk away!
  • After Mahiru rejects Teruteru's perverted advances with a slap to the face, Teruteru very happily says that it's the third slap he has gotten in the day.

    Chapter 1
  • In Chiaki's lab, Hajime ends up buried under a mountain of salty snacks after he opens up a locker.
  • Mahiru ends up doing both her own laundry and those of four other people. Monokuma even calls her the Ultimate Laundry Girl.
    • Akane gave her top to Mahiru, only to reveal that she wasn't wearing a bra underneath it. While going to her room to get a clean one, she comes across Ryota, who drops to his knees and whose face turns completely red at the sight of her being topless. Akane just lets out a laugh and enters her room.
Ryota: N-no shame... And almost as b-big as... Bonkhonagahoogs-senpai from My October Crush... Oh g-god... I never thought it could be real...
  • What exactly was the roar Hiyoko heard when she used the first-floor girls' restroom around the time of the murder? Why, Nekomaru using the boys' restroom, of course! Even funnier? This is what proves that Nekomaru is not the killer.

    Chapter 2
  • Monokuma gathers all the students in the library so they can all look for the clue he's hidden there. Cue to Nagito opening a book and finding it by complete chance.
  • As part of a deal they've made, Kazuichi allows Hiyoko to steal his meals so that Sonia will notice him. That said, this Running Gag ends up resulting in tragedy later on in the chapter.
  • Kazuichi wants to ask something to Sonia. Both her and Gundham believe that he wants to marry her.
  • As a way to make Ryota come to the group gatherings, Akane and him made a deal; in exchange of him meeting up with everyone else, she would pose for him in his room so that he can have a reference on how female athletes bend for his animation. Mahiru peeks into his room as he makes sketches of Akane in peculiar poses and is not sure what to make of it.
Hiyoko: I knew all anime fans were perverts, but geez, not that much!
  • This conversation between Monokuma and Ibuki when confronting Monokuma about the students' secrets:
Ibuki: How can you even know?!
Monokuma: Oh, trust me, I know all my students well enough, Miss Saionji.
    Ibuki: Hey, I'm Mioda!
Monokuma: Oh, whoops. Well, mistakes happen.
  • During the investigation, Mahiru finds a rag drenched in chloroforms and smells it, sending her into a brief slumber.
Kazuichi: Well, you've got no right to call me stupid anymore.

    Chapter 3
  • Unsurprisingly, Teruteru took the poster of the busty supermodel in the boys' locker room to his room. Upon learning this, Kazuichi is angry that Teruteru didn't share it with the other boys.
  • The fight between Kazuichi and Gundham is hyped through the whole chapter, and it even seems like the next dead body will pop up during it. Nope, instead they both manage to put their differences aside and become friends, with the other students coming across Kazuichi petting one of the Twelve Zodiac Generals.
    • What happened to the fight you ask? Just like Taka and Mondo's endurance contest in canon... who the hell knows?
    • Even better! Monokuma was so convinced that someone would die by the time the fight took place that he didn't prepare a Monokuma Theater Segment and now has to improvise.
  • At the beginning of the third trial, the morning announcement interrupts Monokuma's explanation of the Class Trial.
Monokuma: Well, this was awkward. I'll make sure to turn them off when the trial happens next time.
    • Kazuichi comments on feeling tired and Monokuma tells him not to interrupt him, only for Nagito to point out that his own announcement already interrupted him. Monokuma angrily just lets the students start discussing the murders without finishing the explanation.
  • Keeping up with the Running Gag of Teruteru shouting celebrity names when excited or nervous from the canon material, his quote for initiating a Rebuttal Showdown is "Miley Cyrus"!

    Chapter 4
  • The speakers in Ibuki's lab have the volume so high up that it causes Mahiru's hair to stand up.
  • Kazuichi mentions trying to outscream Ibuki with a microphone. He couldn't.
  • Ibuki's concert is full of these:
    • Ibuki has Mahiru announce her performance to the other students. The thing is, Mahiru's not the best when it comes to public speeches. The only round of applause she gets is from Nagito.
    • The song Ibuki performs is titled "My Boyfriend Left Me And Stole My Prosthetic Hand".
      • "It's called 'punching', not 'fisting', right? Maybe it didn't rhyme otherwise..."
    • Nagito flips a Monocoin to see whether or not there would be any more murders. It falls inside Mikan's shirt, and Hajime gets his hand stuck in the collar of her shirt after Nagito bumps into him. Mahiru tries to drag Hajime away for groping Mikan while Nagito tries to get the coin from under Mikan's skirt when this slips down even further, causing Kazuichi and Teruteru to try to drag him away by the legs while Ibuki cheers for the whole thing, accidentally hitting Gundham in the process. All of this while Ryota just watches everything completely confused.
      • Also, this line from Nagito:
Nagito: Groping a girl? Not cool, Hajime.
  • Mahiru finds Izuru casually drinking raw eggs for breakfast.
  • When giving hints to Mahiru regarding what happened in the Data Center, Monokuma puts on a bowler hat and a faux moustache and starts talking like Sherlock Holmes.
  • This Shout-Out to Team Fortress 2:
Monokuma: What's that over there, dear Detective?
    Mahiru: This is a bucket...
    Monokuma: Dear lord!
Mahiru: And... there's some water still in it.
    Monokuma: No!
  • During the trial, when asked about the Music Room and the two labs attached to it being soundproof, Ibuki says that she could hear everything that was said during the blackout because she has the ears of Beethoven. As pointed out by Ryota, Beethoven was deaf.
  • When asked about how she attacked Teruteru in a fit of panic, Ibuki, believing that she had accidentally killed him, gives this answer:
Ibuki: Ah, what's the point! I killed a guy! And I don't even get to go to prison and become a grizzled rebellious songwriter, I just get to die!
  • After Ibuki finishes telling her story...
Ryota: Someone bumped into you in the dark and you swung a guitar at them like a maniac?!
Kazuichi: You were horrified yourself when I pointed a flashlight at you. Screamed like a girl!
    Ryota: That's different!

    Chapter 5

    Chapter 6
  • After the shock of seeing Nagito alive in her room in the middle of the night has passed, Mahiru's first instinct is to throw a pillow at him and tell him to turn around so she can change into her uniform.
  • In the cafeteria, Ibuki tells Mikan that she shouldn't feel ashamed of falling asleep while working, as some people see it as endearing. When Ryota asks her if that is true, Gundham pretty much tells him that in his case, it's not.
  • Ibuki, believing that Monokuma had plagiarized her work, angrily states the following while stomping a music player:
Ibuki: I got deepfaked! He used my voice to play song that is just a blatant ripoff of my style! Ibuki can’t accept this! Trapping us all in this horrible place and forcing us to kill each other was pretty bad, but I draw the line at plagiarism!
  • Ibuki's impression of Monokuma:
Ibuki: (controlling Monokuma) Hehehe! I've come to haunt you with un-bear-able bear puns and evil laughter! Witness my puhuhu-ing!
  • The photos the surviving students receive all feature at least one Funny Background Event.
  • When identifying the Mastermind as Chiaki Nanami and guessing that the Chiaki that got executed in the first trial was actually the Ultimate Imposter, Mahiru points out that both the Imposter and the Chiaki they knew had the same physique.
Nagito: They both certainly have... quite the build. Imposter and the Chiaki we knew...
    Ibuki: True gamer build! Juicy!
    • When you look back at the Prologue and Chapter 1 knowing that Chiaki is actually the Ultimate Imposter in disguise, the mental image of a big fat fake Chiaki becomes rather hilarious. Bonus points since there's never a single mention about "Chiaki's" weight until Chapter 6, but Mahiru did provide this bit of Foreshadowing in the prologue:
Mahiru: Well, the way she looks and acts are about what I would expect of a gamer...

Danganronpa Class Swap 2 - Jabberwock Island

    Prologue
  • Mukuro initially mistakes Sakura for a man. When Hina tells her that Yasuhiro thought that Sakura was male, Mukuro lets out a Mirthless Laughter.
  • Makoto tells Mukuro that he looked up all his classmates and their talents on one of the school's message boards, however, he realizes it makes him sound like a creepy stalker and tries to rephrase it multiple times.
  • Yasuhiro tries to convince Kyoko that Usami turned the ranch's chicken into a cow, but Kyoko understandibly doesn't believe him. He later comes to the conclusion that if someone were to make burgers out of the cow, they would be 100% chicken. The mystery of his hamburger has finally been solved.
  • Makoto and Sayaka give Mukuro a puzzling look when Mukuro says that she has never heard of Sayaka, a celebrity:
Mukuro: Why were those two looking at me like they just discovered a living caveman?
  • Mukuro proves that she's stronger than Makoto by effortlessly picking him up and lifiting him a foot above the ground.
  • Celeste says that her talent consists of stripping people off their money and possesions based off their poor life choices. Mukuro then asks her if she's the Ultimate Tax Collector.
  • Makoto's total inability to understand the relationship between Junko and Mukuro, and their reaction when they learn he never fights with his sister:
Makoto: No! If anything, she’s probably my best friend!
    Mukuro: Your little sister...
    Junko: ...is your best friend.
Makoto: Hey, why are you staring at me like that?
  • When looking for pearls inside the seashells, Yasuhiro is bitten by a crab.

    Chapter 1
  • Monokuma interrupts Usami in the middle of her morning announcement and both of them begin bickering like little kids over it.
  • This conversation right here:
Kiyotaka: I understand that everyone is concerned and suspicious. However, I do believe there is something we’re lacking that would allow us to avoid any unnecessary strife!
    Kyoko: Information?
    Aoi: Donuts?
    Sakura: Perseverance?
    Makoto: Friendship?
    Leon: Relaxation?
    Byakuya: Extra brain cells?
  • Junko tells Hifumi and Sayaka to leave her lab because she wants to speak to Mukuro in private. When Hifumi asks if a scene of forbidden love is about to happen between them, Junko tells him that either he leaves or her foot will make forbidden love to his crotch.
  • Due to spending all day fighting for control of the school trip with Usami, Monokuma didn't have time to prepare a Monokuma Theater segment and has to improvise. He is even talking about how much he hates rabbits at the beginning of the segment.
  • Mukuro calls Byakuya a dick after he expresses his desire to participate in the killing game. Taka tells her to watch her language, and Junko seemingly does so too, but she actually wanted her to say something more vulgar.
  • Junko tells Mukuro that, in order to get Byakuya to socialize with her, she beat him at rock-paper-scissors seventeen times in a row. Mukuro is immediately able to tell that she cheated.
  • This dialogue, which is a reference to a viral video.
Mukuro: Hey, what do you have over there?
    Junko: A knife!
    Mukuro: Junko, no!
    Junko: Junko, yes!
  • Junko uses her Student Perk to lock Mukuro in her cottage, so she's forced to exit through a window and ends up landing in the water.
  • This line from Leon sounds really strange when taken out of context.
Leon: I mean, he's the Ultimate Clairvoyant, isn't he? He even showed me his balls! Could he really be wrong?
  • While discussing Yasuhiro's dubious reputation, Mukuro remarks that she never heard of him before to which Leon counters by saying that she never heard of Sayaka Maizono before either. Makoto sheepishly admits he told Leon about that fact, causing Mukuro to groan.
  • This line which implies that Mukuro may be more bitter about her appearance that she lets on:
Mukuro: And what about people who don't have a 'proper' talent? What about Byakuya or Junko. What are their talents? Being born into the right family and being born with mom's genetics?
  • A few ones happen during the party:
    • Junko puts alcohol into her drinks and gets drunk. She would've gotten everyone else drunk too had it not been for Mukuro stopping her.
      • Even better? Leon thinks she just had too much sugar.
      • After insulting Usami over her night announcement, Junko tries to get Mondo to dance with her.
      • The cherry on top? Junko has to attend the Class Trial completely hungover!
    • Taka attempts to dance, but it looks more like he is doing gym class excercises.
  • In the class trial, we get this reference to a meme from We're the Millers:
Mondo: Wait, he got a real sword in his fucking cottage? All I get is the old pickaxe...
Sakura: My room has several training devices. Not enough to replace proper equipment, but it helps me stay in shape.
Makoto: Wait, you guys are getting special stuff in your rooms?

    Chapter 2
  • Junko's reaction to Genocider Syo:
Junko: That's one crazy bitch, alright. She's stealing my vibe!
  • Chihiro asks Junko why she's so mean to Mukuro, and Mukuro simply says that being a bitch is just part of Junko's personality. Junko's response to this is to pretend to die. Mukuro then leaves for the library.
Junko: What, not even a reaction to your dear sister's demise? That's cold. Who's the bitch here now?
  • You can tell by Genocider Syo and Kyoko's interactions during the whole chapter that Kyoko is slowly but surely losing her patience from having to watch over her to make sure she doesn't kill anyone. The final nail in the coffin for Kyoko seems to be when Genocider Syo's autopsy on the chapter's victim turns out to be more effective than Kyoko's.
  • Genocider Syo goes to Hifumi's lab and asks him if he has any Yaoi she could borrow. Hifumi is terrified at both her presence and her interests.
  • The fact that Kiyotaka and Hifumi bond over anime, videogames, and manga after Hifumi refers to it as "a lesson in modern culture" and sparks Taka's interest on the subject.
Junko: A body has been discovered. Taka is dead, Otaka takes his place.
  • Leon's quote for starting a Rebuttal Showdown being "Stupid-stupid-stupid!" is as funny as it is in-character.

    Chapter 3
  • Monokuma's movie is so awful that Junko wants Mukuro to kill her so she doesn't have to live with the memory of having ever watched it.
  • Byakuya decides to avoid Toko and Genocider Syo by hiding in Toko's lab, because he's convinced that the last place they would think of looking in would be their own labs. It turns out he's right.
  • Junko's memorial service for the victims of the killing game, outside of being a way to give them a proper send-off, was also an attempt for her to make the surviving students drunk. They all proceed to take some shots of sake in the music venue, which has alcohol available for everyone. Taka, Toko and Makoto all get drunk, with Taka being implied to be Drowning His Sorrows, Makoto having a dream in which he wets the bed, and Toko getting drunk after only having one shot. Toko also tries to fight with Genocider Syo, but ends up fainting after she makes her bleed.
    • As noted by Mukuro, Kiyotaka had taken his time to write alcohol health risk PSAs for the music venue.
    • In an attempt to push away lustful thoughts when she puts a drunk Makoto to sleep, Mukuro tries to think of other topics to distract herself:
Mukuro's thoughts: There. Now, distracting topics. How about steps to disassemble an AK-47... Yeah, that's a... Wait, no, I don't know how to do that, uh... crap, what about...
  • Celeste gets infected with the Despair Disease and reverts to a brutally honest Taeko Yasuhiro, switching from her Elegant Gothic Lolita clothes to a plain tracksuit and who among other things, tells Kiyotaka to shove it and calls Chihiro a twink.
    • After being cured of the disease, Celeste insists that a fake persona took over her while she was sick.
Celeste: Ahem... Perhaps there should be something clarified. Mukuro, if my memory serves me right, then while I was diseased, I ended up so deluded, that some fake persona took over. Even used a different name, right?
Mukuro: A fake? I thought it was your re—
Celeste: My name. Is. Celestia Ludenberg. My real name and the only name I ever had. Though Celeste is fine, as usual. Whatever you heard from me while I was sick was nothing more than falsity and delusion. It had no basis in reality.
  • The second Usami Theater segment has Usami making contradiction after contradiction in regard to what should be done during a closed-space epidemic.
  • The third Monokuma Theater segment is interrupted for no reason, with Monokuma complaining about being cut short.
  • The fact that Genocider Syo manages to escape interrogation from Kyoko, Mukuro and Chihiro by making them think that there's something besides them.
  • Kiyotaka not knowing that "ell oh ell" stands for "LOL".
  • How Mukuro manages to prove Kyoko that the "Genocider Syo" with them at the Class Trial is actually a Despair Disease-addled Toko: Taking advantage of Toko's hemophobia by cutting her hand with a knife and then showing it off to the rest of the class.
"Syo": See? No way... I'm... heh... Toko... She'd already... be... (faints)

    Chapter 4
  • While investigating the fourth island, Chihiro and Junko find Usami's house. While Junko is disgusted to the point she wants to vomit, Chihiro admits he finds the house cute, leading Junko to declare that once they get out of the Killing Game, she will put Chihiro in the punkiest gender-neutral outfit she can create because he desperately needs some kind of edge. Mukuro finds the idea adorable.
  • Upon finding Byakuya's lab, the first thing Toko does is press her face onto the seat of the lab's chair, believing that Byakuya had sat there. Leon then tells Mukuro that Byakuya barely spent any time in the lab and that he was the only one who sat in the chair, not Byakuya.
    • Leon also admits that he tested the chair to see if it could activate some secret passage as Byakuya is a evil CEO. Taka disagrees on this as Byakuya is a student and is just preparing to become one.
  • Junko's reaction to the roller coaster:
  • The roller coaster ride is probably funnier than in the original Danganronpa 2: Junko, Mukuro, and Chihiro are having the time of their lives while Taka screams completely terrified, Toko clings to Byakuya's arm for dear life, one of Celeste's extension drills comes off, and Makoto gets sick and ends up throwing up on Leon. After the ride is over, Celeste and Leon rush to their cottages to get changed.
  • While stuck in her Funhouse room, Mukuro tries to strike a conversation with Toko to stave off boredom by asking her why Byakuya of all people. The conversation rapidly leads to Toko having a Fantasy Sequence:
Toko: The way he carries himself... The way he talks, his mannerisms, his outfit... He's like a dream come true... And I'm his maiden, waiting for true love's kiss...
    Mukuro: Uh... Toko?
Toko: Once I show him that I can be a wonderful mother, he will definitely show his true feelings...
    Mukuro: Toko...? Tookooo?
Toko: Huh? What? What are you doing here?!
    Mukuro: This is my room.
  • This exchange when Junko begins her investigation into Celeste's death and Leon being reluctant to go back in the room where her corpse was found:
Junko: She's resting, but she’ll be fine. In meantime though. You know the drill by now.
Leon: Damn... Seriously? We gotta go back in there?
Junko: No, of course not, we'll just channel her spirit and ask her who killed her.
    Leon: Wait, seriously?
Junko: Yes! Go get a Ouija board. I'll make a candle by condensing the milk.
Leon: Oh. You're screwing with me.
Junko: Took you long enough to catch up.
  • While in the Outer Cercle with Makoto and Monokuma, Usami suddenly realizes that unlike the students, she and Monokuma never played Russian Roulette, leading her to drag Monokuma out of the room to shoot themselves:
Usami: Oh no! The rules! Monokuma!
    Monokuma: Huh? What?
Usami: Neither of us played the game of life and death before entering! Ever!
    Monokuma: Who cares?
Usami: I do! Let's go and shoot ourselves! We must! For the rules!
Monokuma: Gah—Don't drag me by the ear, you stupid rabbit! That's what I'm supposed to do to you!

    Chapter 5
  • While Mukuro, Toko and Makoto are investigating the Plushie Factory, Monokuma arrives to correct them about the nature of the Monokuma plushies, leading to Mukuro giving her opinions about them:
Monokuma: What I want is to correct your grave mistake! For you see, all the Monokumas produced here are perfectly functional spare bodies for me. All they lack is, well, my personality!
Mukuro: ...I guess that’s why they’re not nearly as infuriating.
