Fridge Brilliance:

  • The lunar cycle of Salem doesn't make a whole lot of sense... unless each day is actually fifteen, which actually explains a lot. It gives the Mafia time to scheme, investigative roles time to investigate, Jailors time to interrogate, and so on. What we see is just extremely sped-up.
    • The moon is full every night after day 4, which it logically wouldn't be if every "day" represents half a lunar cycle. Unless the "days" are getting longer, which makes sense, as all the killing roles would want to slow down and be more careful while the heat is on, and most of the other roles function in pace with the killers.
    • Alternatively, there are witches in this world...
  • The conflict doesn't make a lot of sense. Mafias are known to be criminal businesses, so whom are they doing business with once the population of the Thriving Ghost Town has been eradicated? Answer: The town is full of Apathetic Citizens, the 15 players are the only ones actively doing something, one way or the other. Once their opposition is wiped out, the Serial Killer is free to wreak havoc, so is the Arsonist, so is the werewolf…
    • Note also the identities of the involved townies: the government (Mayor), law enforcement (Sheriff, Jailer, arguably the Investigator, depending on whether they're meant to be a police detective), a few other civil servants/agents of authority (Lookout, Spy, Doctor, arguably Vigilante), people involved with the dead (Medium, Retributionist, Psychic), and a few people who have good reason to consider themselves targets (Escort, Veteran).
  • The "Escort" has been replaced with "Tavern Keeper", while the "Consort" (Mafia version of Escort) was replaced with "Poisoner" (for Coven) in Town of Salem 2. Is this a case of Political Correctness Gone Mad? Not necessarily - in Town of Salem 2, you can't chain-roleblock like the Escort&Consort can. Once the Tavern Keeper/Poisoner roleblocks someone, they are hung over the next day and thus cannot be roleblocked that night.
    • Why have the poisoner be the "Consort" Equivalent? Because alcohol is a poison. Plus, when they celebrate with someone and have the necronomicon, they slip poison into their drinks automatically.
