When the Mayor tells Spider-Man's origin, Wolverine accuses him of making it up. The Mayor is voiced by Stan Lee, creator of Spider-Man, so from a certain perspective, he actually was.
Reptil's powers as many have noted they make no sense as many of the creatures either aren't dinosaurs or don't actually have that ability but with the Reveal that his powers actually come from an infinity fractal it makes perfect sense they let him transform into what he thinks are dinosaurs and use powers based on what he thinks they can do.
The usual center of the Marvel Universe is New York City, with it being supplanted by Superhero City here for the sake of getting all of Marvel's iconic locations in one easy place (since it also includes Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters and the Bifrost Bridge). But if we go by the logic that Superhero City is the stand-in for New York City, then the nearby Villainville may as well be the stand-in for New Jersey.
