     Fridge Brilliance
  • The Moomin family's ancestor appearing in the final episode of season 1 of Moominvalley shows how they evolved throughout time:
    • The ancestor's brown fur is shown to be thick, while Moomintroll's white fur has less. Which means his ancestor has to regulate their temperature in the cold, it can also help camouflage themselves. And even though Moomintroll has fur, he is still vulnerable to the harsh winter.
    • The ancestor possibly lived in a nomadic lifestyle compared to its descendants, who dwell in their domestic home.
    • The tradition of hibernating also came from Moomintroll's ancestor in which his family followed.
    • Their dexterity is also different. The ancestor is much agile than Moomintroll himself, as he wasn't able to jump above a log in the ninth episode.
  • Moomintroll's difficulty in hibernation may originate to his sleep changes as he is experiencing Puberty, being a teenager in Moominvalley. For better or worse, he will go through a rebellion phase.
  • In the episode, The Fire Spirit, we see how useful the stilts are. Notice the place where Moomintroll and Snufkin meets, it's covered with thick fog that none of the characters were able to see. When they used the stilts when traveling to the volcano, the fog is below their feet because it's a low-lying cloud. Snufkin's solution to travel from the fog is stilts to not only to see a clearer path, but to also walk safely through the fog from above.
  • Moominmamma, in Moominmamma's Mural, was able to create various paint pigments through natural materials such as flowers, seashells, rocks, and berries. It is possible to do this in real life.

     Fridge Horror
  • In the first episode of Moominvalley (2019) Little My keeps trying to steal Moomin's room. Moomin gets fed up and tries building his own house and fails. Then Little My and he work on a second house together after she picks the build site. They then convince Little My's mother, Mymble and her siblings to move into the house. The house was built on the back of a sleeping sea turtle, who wakes up and goes for a swim! Is it possible Little My deliberately built on the turtle to get rid of her family, knowing full well that turtles do dive under the water and potentially drown them all?
    • As of the show's season 2 preview, her family will return to Moominvalley soon. But the fact that she was the one who decided to build it on a sea turtle still raises suspicions, considering what she had been through with her family prior to the first episode.
  • In Moominmamma's Maid, there are instances where she sees Mrs. Fillyjonk appearing out of nowhere and then having a fantasy of dumping dust on her peer. It's a sign or an effect from stress including hallucinations and mood changes. From the channel's YouTube banner of Moominmamma painting on the wall, this could mean that what she went through in that episode is just the tip of the iceberg.
    • In addition, Mrs. Fillyjonk's obsession with order and cleanliness seems to be shared by other members of her species, indicating that it might be some sort of unchangeable biological compulsion. Sure, Mrs. FJ COULD get a bit uptight and insufferable about that matter, but having everyone treat her like a dick for something essentially baked into her kind's DNA isn't "telling her off for her bad habits," it's straight-up Fantastic Racism! Her being "freed" from this behavior is actually her going insane!
  • In Moominvalley Season 2, Sniff had snuck into Mrs. Fillyonk's home during a thunderstorm. He commented to "try sleeping in a tree". It is obviously a bad idea to take shelter under the tree in a harsh thunderstorm as lighting will strike at it. There are incidents where a person survived a lightning strike in real life, but there are deaths as well.
    • This would also have been a reference to the 90's anime episode "Snorkmaiden Goes Psychic" where Snorkmaiden got into an accident during a thunderstorm that temporarily gave her the ability to see the future.
  • Ever wonder in the 90s anime of what would happen if Snorkmaiden ignored her first premonition about Snufkin about to die in a rockslide or was even stopped before she could warn him. Think about it.
  • In 90's anime episode "Hurry Up, Snufkin", Moomin decides to go look out for Snufkin, even though he is really sick. It's pure luck that Moominmamma and Moominpappa noticed his leave soon and that Stinky for all his bad traits actually made an earnest attempt to stop Moomin and then tagged along for his safety. It could've gone so badly otherwise.
  • There's also a bit of horror of what could've happened if Moominmamma hadn't recognized her transformed son - it's possible the magic could've worn out naturally like the clouds, but as we hadn't seen the Antlion change back - it's also possible if no one believed him, he would've been stuck that way forever.
