  • The name of the liver? Oliver. O, liver.
  • In "Seven Reasons", why does Melendez choose to give the patient antibiotics? It’s actually a Xanatos Gambit. If he gave her steroids and was wrong, then she'd die because of a mistake he made (puncturing her trachea). But if he gave her antibiotics and was wrong, then she'd die, but only because of her own misuse of dimethyl sulfate. So giving the patient antibiotics leaves two options: she lives, or her death is nobody’s fault but her own.
  • In a way, it makes sense that Shaun doesn't like questions. In the flashbacks we see of his childhood, he was probably questioned a lot about why he wasn't normal like everyone else, and felt pressured to find an answer.
  • Despite the marketing for season 2 making it seem like Andrews is going to fire Shaun for the mistake he made in the season 1 finale, the episode doesn't bring this up at all. Why? Because this is the writers' way of showing that Andrews didn't even consider firing Shaun.
  • When Shaun asks Andrews how he knew that he loved his wife, he says that she made his heart race with excitement. But when Shaun tests his heart rate around Lea, it's only 60 bpm. Why? Because like a lot of advice, this doesn't apply to Shaun. He can get incredibly overwhelmed and anxious at times, and Lea makes him feel calm, safe, and comfortable.
    • Also, being someone with autism, he doesn't understand context and metaphors very well. So, he may have mistaken a metaphor about the heart racing with excitement as a literal increase of heart rate, though still be completely unaware that everyone is different when it comes to love and it's reactions.
  • The fact that Shaun put the baseball he got from Lea as a gift next to his photograph with his brother already highlights what his feelings are for her. And in Season 3, the baseball appears briefly in Shaun's room when he makes love to Carly, meaning that despite his insisting otherwise, he still hasn't forgotten Lea.
