Fridge Brilliance:

  • There's at least one Pulp Fiction Shout-Out with Nikolai repeating verbatim words said by Winston Wolf. But the whole film is actually a parable of Jules Winnfield's famous take on Ezekiel 25:17. Everything Robert does in the film mirrors the quote. The Russian Mafia and corrupt cops are the tyranny of evil men. Robert's friend Ralphie is his "brother" who he "keeps" and helps towards a better life. And Alina is the "lost child" who he finds and rescues.
"Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know that my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon you."
