Fridge Brilliance:

  • Why did the developers cameo Robert Patrick as a dead Resistance soldier with his innards completely removed while strapped to a Skynet operating table? Well, what else is the T-1000 going to wear to pass through the time portal?
  • As pointed out on the main page under Not Quite the Right Thing, the steps to save your friends from being killed when Skynet attacks the Resistance hideout seem counter-intuitive. That's because they are. The first time around, Rivers wouldn't have wanted his friends to leave or be kicked out of what he thinks is the safest place for them to be: a hidden underground fortress filled with plasma-rifle-toting Resistance badasses. Seeing that it doesn't make any difference when Skynet learns the location of a Resistance cell and drops the hammer on it, Future!Rivers tells Past!Rivers to get them out to save their lives, thus you lie and manipulate to drive them away.
  • Your ability to say Screw Destiny and not go back in time to help yourself. If you didn't heed your own warnings, pretty much all your friends died when Skynet attacked your Resistance cell. Rivers from that timeline likely felt he had no real future waiting for him, and a wealth of mistakes to make up for. Listen to your own advice and get everyone off safely, and now Rivers has friends (and potentially a future wife) to come home to. He's earned his happy ending, and now might decide to go enjoy it. On the other hand, still deciding to go back can make sense, too. With knowledge from the difference in the second loop, perhaps both Rivers can survive to earn their happy endings, or stop Skynet just a little bit sooner, preventing the T-850 from getting sent back and necessitating Rivers time-travel in the first place.
