Granted, this is probably coincidence, but there wasn't anything of Steel in the Superman clone. However, this is pretty fitting, as Steel, unlike Superboy, the Eradicator, and the Cyborg-Superman, was upfront about the fact he wasn't Superman from the start.
John Henry Irons is also the only one of the Supermen who actually "got" what Superman was about—protecting people. If he wasn't Superman, he was certainly the only one of the four who had a snowball's chance in Hell of actually living up to his legacy.
