Fridge / Mrs. Hawking

• Fridge Horror:
  • We know Mrs. Hawking is an aromantic asexual who was forced to get married to a conventionally heterosexual Victorian patriarch. We also know she was pregnant at least once. She was almost certainly raped by her husband; probably many times.
    • It's established that Nathaniel very strongly resembles her husband, and that resemblance makes her uncomfortable with him. It seems likely that part of it must be because he looks like her rapist.
    • In Part V, Mrs. Frost, the title character refers to the Colonel outright as Mrs. Hawking's rapist while trying to manipulate Nathaniel into cooperating with her.
