Fridge Brilliance

  • Why is Vinnie portrayed as the least intelligent of the main cast? He is a reptile and the others are mammals, which are viewed as smarter than reptiles.
  • Blythe's dad has a Meaningful Name, in that "Roger" is something you say in response to a radio message, which sometimes includes on an airplane. In case you forgot, Roger is a pilot.
  • In "What Did You Say?" when Roger reads the ingredients for the gross-tasting herbal cold medicine he gave an ill Blythe, he reads two of the symptoms as "riding unicycles" and "understanding pets". Blythe then becomes surprised and Roger assumes she was surprised by the former, when it was actually the latter. This was likely Foreshadowing the series finale, where it is revealed that he knew about her ability to speak to pets this whole time. In other words, Roger was intentionally missing the point so he could set Blythe up.

Fridge Horror

  • Had Blythe not unfriended the Biskit twins in "Penny For Your Laughs", they'd likely eventually have forced her to quit her job at Littlest Pet Shop (either that or she'd decide to quit herself), leading to it's closure and the pets being shipped to Largest Ever Pet Shop.
  • In "Lotsa Luck" we are introduced to a fictional goofy martial arts, "kung fu quilting", invented by Mrs. Twombly. Sewing clothes with kung fu moves may seem very funny, but it involves sharp needles. How many people may have injured themselves or others practising the art?
    • It is an "extreme" sport, in which danger is kind of the point. Kung Fu Quilting is only for the very disciplined.
  • In "Russell Up Some Fun", Fun Russell gave Pepper a working chainsaw to juggle. It could have landed on her.
    • It could have been one of Pepper's joke props, keep in mind that she also juggled the anvil with no difficulty implying it was inflatable.
  • Goldfish in real life, are blissfully unaware of their confinement. Goldie who is sapient shows how boring that life is. Doomed to sit in that tiny small space for his entire life., the only excitement being the brief moments when taken out for bowl cleaning. Almost falls into And I Must Scream territory. Whose to say there aren't other sapient Goldfish who were driven to insanity?
    • In real life it is actually harmful to keep goldfish and many other species of aquarium fish in small bowls or confinements as they can cause stress and disease in the fish if not properly housed in a big enough tank that is cleansed, cycled, and catered to the needs of the specific kind of fish. Betta fish are known to suffer from boredom without enough space to thrive.
  • "The Sister Story" starts off with Blythe talking about how horrible tasting the school "Tuna Surprise" was. The fact Blythe eats fish despite being able to fully communicate on their level is rather disturbing, especially given that, unlike other shows, fish aren't at all exempt from anthropomorphism.
    • Actually, given that meat based products are mentioned and consumed throught the series, and all animals are sapient, Littlest Pet Shop's world is rather dark.
  • This one may not count, as it was revealed to be Vinnie's imagination, but in "The Very Littlest Pet Shop" Dolores not only shrinks the pet shop but the whole building. Roger might have been in there...

Fridge Sadness

  • Assuming the pets age like real life animals, Minka is going to outlive all her friends.
    • Blythe herself will outlive all of them.
    • Although "In The Loop" shows they seem to age like humans. When the pets were children, Mrs. Twombly is shown to be younger with healthy brown hair.
  • In "Tongue Tied", Jebbie's owner is shown sitting on the plane with tears in her eyes, thinking about her lost pet. If Blythe hadn't returned her in time, Jebbie and her owner would have been separated forever without knowing where each other were.
  • Russell's owner is an elderly lady, clearly much older than Mrs. Twombly. And since the pets age like humans, if 'In The Loop' is anything to go by, then Russell's owner will pass away long before he does. He'd be able to get a new home easily (maybe even Blythe would take him in), but it's still something painfully sad he'd have to go through.
