    Fridge Brilliance
  • It was a Foregone Conclusion that Time would end up with somebody at some point, but why Malon? Well, when taking Twilight's background into account, along with those of Time's major love interests in Ocarina of Time, Malon becomes the blatantly obvious choice, being of a farming background and has had Epona's Song passed through their family (draw any parallels yet)? In fact, considering that the other characters' species note , social standing note , and other factorsnote  would rule them out, Malon seems to become one of the only options, other than Time marrying someone not shown in the games.
  • Hyrule mentions his belief that he had it easy when fighting Ganon compared to the other Links. Though he's definitely no less of a hero for it, when one takes into account the out-of-universe fact that Hyrule's adventures were the first in the entire series to be depicted, before the timeline became so convoluted, as well as the fact that Ganon could be killed without the use of the Master Sword in some capacity (even Four, who also didn't have the Master Sword, could only seal him away in his adventure), meaning the King of Evil wasn't at his full power, and that means that yes, comparatively speaking, Hyrule did have it simple- he was the hero during a period where the real-world players weren't aware of the timeline shenanigans that led up to Hyrule's adventure, back when the Zelda lore was no more than "Ganon took the princess, now you gotta kill Ganon." Not to mention the fact that a far harder adventure awaited after he killed Ganon, since Hyrule's adventure against Ganon was way easier than his adventure for the Triforce of Courage, which may have also warped his perspective on things.
    Fridge Horror
  • You know that giant-ass scar covering Time's eye? The one that presumably resulted from Time violently losing his eye? That's not even the worst scar he's gotten, according to him. Unless he's talking about emotional scars as well (which is unlikely, considering that nobody brings them up until Twilight joins the conversation, and still wouldn't be all that great), the implications are...unsettling.
  • Wind mentions his sister, which evidently seems to affect Wild. He brushes it off as only an odd feeling, but the implication is that he had a sister, who either died in the Great Calamity or in the hundred years after. If it's the latter, this means she spent the rest of her life thinking her brother died protecting the princess. If it's the former, the thought is horrific on its own...but what if Wild remembers her, and realizes this? He already views himself as a failure for not stopping the Great Calamity, but add on a dead sibling, and, well, that could be enough to push him over the Despair Event Horizon.
  • Sky has no idea who Ganon is, though he did fight Ganon's original incarnation, Demise. Demise's final words to Sky are placing the curse that leads to Ganon. Assuming one of the Links mentions who Ganon is to Sky, and Sky connects the dots, it's possible that he would feel immense guilt for seemingly causing the curse that plagues the other Links.
  • Much like the Links above, Time also would have a reason to feel guilt. Much like Wild, he — or rather, an alternate timeline version of him — lost against Ganon. But unlike Wild, Downfall Branch Time didn't get to correct his loss and make things better. He lost, and that was it. He died, with only Legend coming along some generations later to rectify things. Though this wasn't the Time we know, it's possible that Time would still feel some guilt. And that's saying nothing of his possible reaction to finding out the Hyrule he saved was doomed to be buried under the sea and many of the descendants of the people he saved doomed to drown or salvage what remains to start over.
  • Time may have a decent life — a great wife, a happy home, and we know he'll have kids as well — but he'll still die with enough regret and sorrow to tether him to Hyrule as a spirit.
    • Worse, he has to die full of regrets, because if he dies without any, he won't remain as a spirit, and nobody will be able to teach Twilight the Ending Blow — which he needs to win his fight against Ganondorf. Even if he were to depart from the canon and teach his eventual children his techniques to pass them on, there are no guarantees the techniques will be passed through to Twilight many generations later. Essentially, Time dying happy would doom his descendant to fall against Ganondorf.
  • Whatever Dark Link has planned, it's destructive enough to warrant NINE Links being brought together to fight him.
  • Wind is not only a Composite Character of Phantom Hourglass and Wind Waker, but also Spirit Tracks which is...horrifying. Spirit tracks not only explicitly mentions that it takes place 100 years later, but Tetra is also long dead by that point in time. Unlike Four Swords Adventure (which includes the manga, which helps to blur the lines), There is explicit mention to people Wind knew, either dead, having descendants, or old. Just WHAT HAPPENED to warrant Wind taking up his sword again?
    • Luckily there hasn't been any references to Spirit Tracks yet, in fact Jojo has stated that they didn't really like Spirit Tracks that much and she was wanting to replay the game with a fresher outlook on the series. So perhaps this will turn into a case of Early-Installment Weirdness. Until then, it's still horrifying.
  • An In-Universe example apparently occurs at the tail end of the "Divine Dark Reflections" arc, when Twilight notices the monster-inflicted scratch on Warriors's neck. He doesn't say anything, but his expression suggests that he's realizing the injury is his own fault...and it could have been much worse.
