• In the scene when Kate storms off from Tom in the garden, he tells her that he isn't comfortable with their relationship's dynamics because she's gone through trauma and he feels like she 'depends on him'. Kate interprets this as Tom having commitment issues, but Tom literally gave her his heart. His heart was transplanted into her and keeps her alive, so she literally depends on him.
