The ending of The Island contains a similar consequence.

Abel was a ticking time bomb who finally went off at the end. As a threat to himself and everyone around him, he really should have no place raising his children.
Considering that Abel's cop friends did nothing to stop Abel's corrupt actions, that says a lot about Abel's friends.
