Fridge / It (1927)

Go To

  • Fridge Brilliance:
    • Why the Rip Tailoring worked so well for Betty: she sells clothing for a living. Granted, this doesn't automatically mean she knows anything about making clothes, but it sure isn't a stretch that the same girl who sells dresses can also make them.
    • The implied Last-Minute Hookup between Adela and Monty might seem contrived; but when you consider their personalities, it's actually the perfect setup to the most cliched kind of couple in old-school comedy: a comically bumbling husband and a non-nonsense wife. They'll probably get married and have a relationship much like Ralph and Alice Kramden.
    • Why flirtatious, outgoing Betty is so paranoid about Cyrus moving too fast with her: look what happened to her friend Molly.
    • Speaking of Molly, it's not hard to see how a young woman could end up in her position in the The Roaring '20s. Molly was likely an outgoing flapper just like Betty before the baby came along. And had not Molly gotten knocked up first, Betty wouldn't be as cautious about going to far as she is.
  • Fridge Horror:
    • Molly's son is a baby in the 1920s. He's exactly the right age to get drafted into WWII.
      • He would still be too young to be drafted, considering the year the film was set. But given the stories of some soldiers who were secretly underage during the war, that wouldn't be farfetched.
    • What will The Great Depression be like for a single mother and her son? For that matter, will Cyrus (or Monty) financially survive Black Tuesday?
