Fridge / Digimon Adventure tri. Abridged

Fridge Brilliance

  • At first, the evolution sequences being cut for time may seem like a gag, then you realise this is an abridged series!! Of course the evolution sequences will be cut short like everything else.
  • The nonchalant attitude and lampshade hanging from the digidestined at how they just blatantly killed the Kuwagamon without a hint of remorse stems from the fact that they thought that the dead digimon would just respawn at Primary Village. Whether the fact that they knew that digimon being killed in the Real World negates that and at the same time making the Digimon Kaiser's destruction of Primary Village at Determination all the more unsettling.
    • Either that or, you know, the Kuwagamon were trying to kill people (one of them is stated to have eaten a news cameraman), so it's probably more of a necessary evil than anything. That and their data seems to be kind of sucked back into the Digital World after they're destroyed.
  • At the end of Episode 2, Maki's speech about what it means to be a Digidestined becomes more poetic and a bit frightening when you realise that she is talking about the four current titles of the Tri movies. As revealed in Loss, these are not just empty words. She's speaking from past experience!!
  • Izzy's struggle in here is different from canon. In canon, it was because his drive of knowledge to learn about the infection that is alienating him from his friends but in here, it is massive case of Cannot Spit It Out. Why is that so? Because it's established in here that he is an Insufferable Genius with an Awesome Ego to back it up, practically making him a teenage Lex Luthor. He has already surpassed his established darkness in canon around five minutes in the abridged when he realised he just argued with Mimi and cried himself to sleep after six hours of non-stop crying. His character progression in here is to figure out what to do after realizing that you have alienated yourself from your friends and family in your desire for knowledge, in this case, was to confess to Mimi. Now what was the title of the 3rd movie again? Confession
    • Secondly, a digimon partner talks to his human friend about their girlfriend and makes sure he has a proper love life so that they can reboot without any worry. Are we talking about Tentomon in here or Gomamon in canon?
  • Considering that the same VA that did Daigo as a kid also did the voice of Abridged Kirito, it explains a lot of Daigo's personality as an adult. Also great meta casting since he does Shirou in their Fate Stay Night Bladeworks abridged, and Daigo's Va plays Archer Shirou's future self.
  • While Daigo's partner being Loaderleomon in his flashback seems to be building up to another instance of Leomon dies, it's also due to the fact that Loaderleomon happens to be one of the prior forms of one of the Four Sovereign's, Baihumon. Of course, the setup seems to be set before that climactic event, and instead an instance where Loaderleomon died. As this would have occurred within the Digital World, he would have gotten his partner back eventually anyway. This could be an Actor Allusion, as Daigo's dub actor voiced TK in 02, and TK lost Patamon in the original series.
  • Why is Izzy, the guy who once smack-talked the entity responsible for rebooting the digital world (heavily implied to be Homeostatis or even Yggdrasil) utterly terrified of Alphamon? Well, considering that this is Izzy, he's probably already analyzed Alphamon and discovered (among other things) the Alpha In-Force and has realized that Alphamon is basically unbeatable.
