  • In the orphanage scene of episode 1, the children recite important exposition regarding how they think the world works. It’s a good way to get the viewer up to speed, because that’s also its in universe function: the children are reciting exposition that would be delivered to the new players of Deca-Dence.
    • Similarly, the advert for Deca-Dence the game is played at the start of Episode 2, essentially as a loading advertisement for people logging out of the game.
    • Episode 7 also has Minato giving a dramatic speech to Kaburagi about how they protect humanity. Of course Minato doesn’t say anything to Kaburagi or even acknowledge his presence: it’s a cut scene, not an actual conversation.
  • Certain character details for Kaburagi make more sense in light of episode 2:
    • His jaded and disaffected tone are due to his depression.
    • His comfort with bland food is due to how Gear avatars don’t transmit much sensory data and the cyborgs don't seem to have a culinary culture to speak of; their only luxury is high-grade oxyone.
    • He works well at great heights thanks to the Zero-G aspect of Gadoll fighting.
