Fridge Brilliance

  • During part 2 Aphrodite was one of the gods Annabeth assumed Armani was the son of. A joke certainly, but given the tendency for demigods to have themed names (Stoll brothers son of Hermes the gods of thieves, Leo being a symbol associated with fire which Hephaestus is a god of, the Di Angelos being named after angels and being children after the god of the dead) being named after both Aphrodite's symbol bird and a tux is something one would expect from a Son of Aphrodite. It would have been a clever way to hide who he was, if Apollo had thought about it.
  • Why were most of the Hunters locked in Alcatraz? Simple, the Olympians are fond of following patterns, and in the original series Kampe was locking up Briares there. Just as Kampe's death preceded the Olympians throwing their enemies into Tartarus, Kampe's death in the fourth book heralded the use of Alcatraz for locking up the enemies of the Gods.
  • Related to the Fridge Horror below, Hera's reason for wanting Armani gone may not be simply because she dislikes Artemis: Given her plans in Heroes of Olympus, having the guy who ended up, even if inadvertently, causing the death of Julius Ceaser, the founder of the 12th legion, Armani by his very existence would cause problems she doesn't need. As to why she didn't give that as her reason, Zeus didn't like her plan in canon and he wouldn't be for it any more here.
  • Armani has a huge array of powers that makes one wonder just how powerful he is, perhaps even worth comparing him to Thalia or Percy. Interestingly it is also mentioned in canon that the Gods can choose if their children inherit certain powers or not, such as Pyrokinesis in the case of Leo. Armani may have as many powers as he does because his method of creation didn't have any 'controls' on it and he got every power a child of Artemis could have. If he had any siblings one day, they'd probably have only some of his powers, especially as more powers seems to lean on getting involved in more crazy stuff and Artemis quickly grows exasperated with the sort of madness Armani gets into frequently.
  • Why does Armani describe his senses about the hunt as the 'Song of the Hunt?' Well not only was he raised by Apollo, the God of Music, but Artemis herself is a patron of festivals and dancing. Having his senses come with a rhythm was going to happen, exposure to Apollo probably just led it to be framed as a 'song' versus, say, a 'Rhythm of the Hunt'.

Fridge Horror

  • The last story teases the Romans in this take on the Riordanverse. All fun and good if Xed Alpha ever continues it, but slight problem. The Romans found children of Athena to be unsightly and abnormal, how would they react to a son of Artemis, something that they haven't had millennia to get used to?
    • Heck, Armani's ties to the death of Julius Ceaser is probably known in Camp Jupiter, and that will not make him popular. Octavian would have a field day with him for his war mongering.
    • Also, if Percy's still a member of the Seven and going to the ancient lands, he's going to pay for beating up the gateman.
  • As bad as how Artemis took Apollo hiding Armani from her until it was nearly too late, one has to wonder what would have happened if she found out after it was too late. Apollo might have very nearly dodged a massive bullet Gaea or the Triumverate could have used if they ever found out. On top of it, while Artemis did seem to not dwell on the issue in the later books, such a scenario likely would have kept Artemis in a similar state to the final chapter of Book 1 when it came to Apollo, with their relationship possibly never healing.
