The story is absolutely packed with details that take on a whole new meaning after you've finished reading the whole thing.

As a Fridge subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned.

  • Most of the named Drisking kids have names that start with "K" or "P." Kristy, Kimber, Kyle, Phil, Parker, Paige, etc. The "K" names were sired by Sheriff Killian, and the "P" names were sired by the Prescotts.
  • We find out early on that Kimber's parents are opposed to her relationship with Kyle. It turns out that they have a good reason to be, considering that Kimber and Kyle are half or potentially even full siblings. They were both sired by Killian. Kimber's parents didn't want their daughter unknowingly committing incest. This is also heavily implied to be the reason why Kimber's mother decided to kill herself and leave a note telling Kimber everything. Seeing her daughter unwittingly fall in love with her own brother made her realize how depraved the town truly is.
  • There are a lot of lines and details about Sheriff Walker (Sam's father) that become much darker after you've finished the story.
    • In the first chapter, Sam comments on why his family was forced to move to Drisking: "I secretly blamed my dad as well. I'd heard the whispers too, my dad had done something wrong, something bad and the sheriff's department had reassigned him to some little out of the way county to save face. My parents didn't want me to know that, but I did." Sheriff Walker has done something dark and twisted before, which explains why he's okay with the baby machine scheme.
    • Early on in the story, after Whitney's disappearance, Walker tells Sam "I love your sister more than you can imagine. She's my daughter, Sammy. And I will never give her up." Whitney was sacrificed by her father so he could attain the Sheriff position, but true to his word, he doesn't give her up. He doesn't let the other men touch her; instead, he keeps her to himself and rapes her. Whitney's baby was named William, after "W" for "Walker." Her babies are apparently low-quality because they're inbred.
    • When Sam becomes older, he starts looking more and more like Sheriff Walker. Related to this, even when Sam finally finds Whitney, she refuses to look at him, always turning away. It looks like shame at her current condition at first glance. Come Borrasca V, it turns out Sheriff Walker was the one having his way with Whitney.
  • There are several urban legends surrounding the titular Borrasca, one of which being that "skinless men" inhabit it. As it turns out, there are skinless men in Borrasca, or rather women. The machine that the stolen women are fed into once they become unprofitable separates their skin from their bones.
  • In Part 2, Kimber mentions how much Jimmy Prescott creeps her out because he'd been checking her out since 7th grade. Jimmy Prescott ends up kidnapping her so he can make her a Sex Slave and a Baby Factory.
  • The entirety of the conversation between Tom Prescott and Kimber, Kyle, and Sam. At first, it sounds like the senile ramblings of an old man, but it later becomes clear that he more or less explained the plot.
  • In the podcast adaptation, Sam and Kimber overhear a teenaged girl complaining to her friends that her parents won't confirm her college plans, and don't even seem to care that she's leaving for college next semester. The insinuation being that she's been chosen to join the stables...
  • Another podcast example: early in the podcast adaptation, Graham tells his son teasingly that he should sit in the back of his police cruiser when being driven to school because it will "make him look like a criminal". In the final episode, he tries to frame Sam for attempted murder.
