Fridge Brilliance

  • The Logo Joke depicts a frowny face on the DC logo. In one sense it represents Harley having a bad time at the beginning, but in another sense it represents Harley doing her best to distance herself from a villain whose trademark is a smile.
  • The use of an Edith Piaf song in the trailer makes sense if you remember that Piaf was once The Chanteuse, just as Dinah Lance once was.
  • Of course Harley is the one who suggests a team up. Her last film involved her being on a team.
  • The Joker went from being a tattooed gangster who cared about Harley to a dandy that couldn't stand her. Seems like invokedCharacter Derailment at first, but the Joker does have a reputation of changing with the wind.
  • This interpretation of Sionis is an interesting take on his ties to Bruce Wayne. In some comics, Bruce and Roman were 'friends' as children (or at least the Sionis parents wanted to associate with the Waynes to boost their own social standing), which leaves to Sionis becoming the criminal version of Batman with varying degrees of skill. In this adaptation, while Sionis sets out to present an intimidating persona to Gotham's criminals in his 'Black Mask' guise, in practice he is a petty spoiled playboy who represents what Bruce Wayne could be if he really was the rich idiot he pretends to be while having absolutely no thought for the consequences beyond what benefits him.
  • The Big-Lipped Alligator Moment where Harley hallucinates herself singing "Diamonds Are A Girl's Best Friend" is pretty weird, splits up a Cold-Blooded Torture scene, and is never mentioned again. However, right before the song starts, she gets hit HARD in the face and this means she may have gotten a minor concussion.
    • On a related note, considering she's already crazy, it could be she was just so terrified at that moment she had some kind of psychotic episode and really thought she was Marilyn Monroe for that moment.
    • Others theorize that since she's intensely focusing on something (the diamond) while she goes through the dance sequence in her head may be some form of a coping mechanism given her already shattered mental state and her way of blocking out the pain.
  • It makes sense Renee Montoya would act like a bad '80's movie cop because if she's the same age as her actress, she would have been training to become a cop mid-'80's and was probably surrounded by those bad '80's movies growing up.
  • When it's revealed Helena is the same Helena Bertinelli of the Bertinelli massacre, Harley notes right away that having gone through such a bloody event as a child would be seriously traumatic. Of course she realizes that quickly, she used to be a psychiatrist.
  • Harley wearing a top that actually has "Harley Quinn" printed all over it makes more sense if you remember that she has merchandise out there, like some of the superheroes.
  • Montoya ending up unexpectedly putting on Harley's red & black corset which turns out to be bulletproof — after at first regarding it in disgust — makes sense. Since she's an experienced policewoman, Montoya realized when she handled it that it was body armor.

Fridge Horror

  • Sionis calls Dinah "Little Bird" which is Oliver Queen's (Green Arrow) nickname for her, perhaps her disturbed look is wondering how Sionis knows that nickname
    • Oliver's nickname is actually "Pretty Bird". This appears to be before she's met Oliver, but it would be interesting to have the similarities between the two come up in a potential sequel.
  • Cassandra's foster parents are going to eventually realize that she's gone...how are they going to react when they learn that Cassandra is now the BFF of the Joker's ex-girlfriend?
    • They seemed to hate having her around, so maybe they're jerks enough that they don't care who she ran off with.
  • If you look closely at Cassandra’s cast, you can see insults like “bitch” and “asshole” written on there. I highly doubt any random adult on the streets would be writing on a 13-year-old’s cast since that’s normally what close peers do to each other, much less words like that, and I doubt she would be even interacting with anyone on the streets since she pickpockets and runs. Possible bullying at school?
    • Alternatively, kids at Cassandra's age can be pretty edgy so maybe she wrote it herself to be crude. (According to the DVD extras, Ella Jay Basco wrote everything on the cast.)
    • Maybe her foster parents have other kids (foster or otherwise) who dislike Cassandra and wrote nasty stuff on her cast while she was sleeping.
