Fridge Brilliance:

Okada, one of the players in the All Japan Junior tournament, has his rising sun style of play.He always hits the ball flat and on the rise, just like his idol, who was/is the top women's player Japan has ever known. This style, the rising sun style, allows the female Japan player to have success against even the women's world number 1 in a grand slam tournament. Yet, Okada cannot use it to great success against another male player in only a Jr. level national level tournament. Why? Because the women's game is one dimensional compared to the men's game. Women are known to statistically have less variability in their play style, and more often hit the ball hard, flat, and down the middle. This monotonous style allows the rising sun style to work well on the women's side, because it already conforms to the current style of tennis women play. On the men's side, versatility and ability to handle power are more the norm. Which is why Ei-chan, not a noted power player, is able to stop Okada's rising shots. Had Okada been born a female, she would have had much more success on the women's side employing the rising sun style of pay.
