  • Absented Age: Squarebound: Astrake from RealityMinds is a cameo in Arcade Mode, but he's in Silvana's body, causing him to be affected by both kinds of gender-targeting effects.
  • In Academy of Magic 2: Lair of the Beast Dennis and Max swap due to the effects of an enchanted lake.
  • AI: The Somnium Files: The game, in a sense, does this. Near the very end of the game, it's revealed that staying in a Psync past the six-minute timer leads to the Psyncer and subject swapping bodies; the few people aware of this understandably keep it under wraps. Saito Sejima, the serial killer villain, uses the Psync machine to swap bodies with various characters throughout the course of the game. After each swap, he then proceeds to murder his old body, taking their eyes out and eating it. This is only revealed during the climax of one route, when 'Boss' is outed as Saito Sejima. The voice actress for Boss gains a sultry, mocking tone for the rest of the segment, and it's delicious. Furthermore, Saito's original body is really Date's current body, with a mishandled swap years ago resulting in amnesia for both.
  • BlazBlue: Relius and Kokonoe inflict this on a chunk of the cast in the former's gag reel.
  • In Call Of Duty Infinite Warfare, there's a Hacking Device, which can take control the C6 robot and detonate it later.
  • Chrono Cross does this with the Hero and Villain about halfway through the story. Unusually, the switch stays for almost the entire rest of the game, with the hero having to put up with all the things the villain would have had to — except for the fact that the villain didn't really exist. Interestingly technically they never actually switch back. The hero simply finds a magical item that reforms his body back to his original one, while the villain keeps his original body meaning in the final face off both characters have the same appearance.
  • In Dragon Ball Xenoverse and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, not only does the player get to witness Captain Ginyu steal Goku's body like he did in Z, he also switches with Vegeta in both games and accidentally swaps with the Time Patroller in the first game due to Jeice's meddling. In the second game, he swaps with Time Patrol!Trunks in the original timeline, then with Goku Black if you bring him to the Future Trunks Saga in Extra Story Mode.
  • Subverted in Ensemble Stars! story, Makoto and Tsukasa claim to have magically swapped bodies while they were sleeping. However, it soon becomes clear (mainly due to Tsukasa's Bad "Bad Acting") that it's all an act, and merely a way for Makoto to gain the courage to give Izumi a "The Reason You Suck" Speech while pretending to actually be Tsukasa in his body.
  • In Fire Emblem: Awakening, this happens in Sumia and Henry's support chain: while trying to teach her some Dark Magic, Henry performs a curse with this effect. Advancing their support chain far enough leads to them performing a second body switch, which will also trigger their Relationship Upgrade and marriage.
  • One of the TV shows in Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town, 'Aaron Changes', is about a boy named Aaron switching bodies with his girlfriend Erin.
  • In Haven (2020), Yu and Kay experience this while under the influence of hallucinogenic mushrooms. This either leads to Kay breaking down from an existential crisis, Yu discovering she's on her period due to a bout of abdominal pain Kay experiences on her behalf, or the two of them sexually experimenting with their swapped bodies.
  • I=MGCM: In the Halloween 2020 Event "My Name"note , there’s a phenomenon that causes Iko and Marianne switch bodies after they woke up after eating a certain type of Demon World plant, and the heroines have to find out how to revert them back to their own bodies.
  • In The King of Fighters 2000, during the Korea Team's ending, while the whole team was dodging the Zero Cannon, the blast lands directly on Chang and Choi, rendering them unconscious. Kim and Jhun try to snap them (Chang and Choi) out of it and when they (Chang and Choi) wake up, not only are their bodies switched, but so are their clothes and weapons.
  • The Swap Monitor in Knuckles Chaotix has this effect, giving the player character the appearance and abilities of the partner character and vice versa.
  • In Junk Man's miniquest in Mega Man Battle Network 4, Mega Man is the victim of a rockslide of garbage. Immediately afterwards, he adopts an accent and starts acting weird. Surprise — it's Junk Man, and the quest is to help him find his body (with Mega Man in it) in the rubble.
  • Happens on three different occasion in Pitfall: The Lost Expedition when Harry swaps bodies with an animal (a monkey, scorpion and penguin) and must use its unique abilities to defeat them and regain his body.
  • At the end of the World Builder game Psychotic!, you use a mind transfer machine to swap bodies with The Teacher.
  • RealityMinds: Astrake and Silvana have their bodies switched after the latter attacks the former. This ends up switching their entire moveset as well. This turns out to be Kvena's doing, who secretly wants to torment Silvana and goad her into exorcising the former.
  • Remember11 has its two main protagonists, Fuyukawa Kokoro and Yukidoh Satoru, switch bodies several times over the course of the game. It goes a lot deeper than that. As it turns out, they're not only switching between themselves, but also with an unborn child. There is also another set of swaps going on between Unubushi Keiko, Suzukage Hotori, and another unborn child.
  • In the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive version of Sparkster, one of King Gedol's attacks is a spell where he can swap bodies with the titular hero. Here, you can briefly control Sparkster in Gedol's body and try to knock out Gedol in Sparkster's body to reverse the spell.
  • Sam & Max: Freelance Police: Sam and Max briefly switch bodies in Night of the Raving Dead: this is how Sam discovers where Max hides his gun.
  • Super Mario 3D World: While likely unintended by the developers, this Supper Mario Broth post posits that tomfoolery with the Double Cherry power-up, specifically, taking advantage of the fact that one character ground-pounding another character's clone changes the identity of the duplicated character who was ground-pounded into that of the character who ground-pounded them, could theoretically result in two characters permanently switching their bodies/identities with that of the other, so that, for example, the person who was formerly Mario is now Luigi and vice-versa.
  • When the Pokémon Manaphy appears from a Pokéball in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, it uses its Heart Swap move to change the control of two fighters on the field, so each player controls the other one's character for a while. This doesn't mean the affected characters should commit suicide though; they still keep their own stock and damage percentages.
  • Tales Series:
    • Tales of Destiny: Equipping a character with a Narikiri Doll item causes them to turn into the character whose doll they've equipped. If you go crazy with the Narikiri dolls, there's a skit where everyone in the party (except for Lilith, who is optional) switches bodies with another party member (for example, Stahn and Philia), and they try to figure out what happened. Hilarity Ensues.
    • Tales of Berseria: Also crosses over with Hot Springs Episode. The party uses the bathhouse after clearing the Heavenly Steppes, only for the boys and girls to swap bodies (Velvet & Laphicet, Eleanor & Rokurou, Eizen & Magilou, and Bienfu & Katz) because of the bathhouse's magic. They return to normal as soon as they leave the hot springs, with Eleanor demanding the guys to forget what they've experienced.
  • In the Haunted Castle level of Taz in Escape from Mars for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, after Taz gets Gossamer to sit down in one of the two chairs of the Mad Scientist's mind-swapping machine, he can switch bodies with him. Here, you can briefly control Taz in Gossamer's body in order to destroy the Mad Scientist's laser above them. After doing so, you have to switch Taz and Gossamer's minds (or lack thereof) back to their proper bodies in order to move on to the next level.
  • In Sweet Tooth's ending in Twisted Metal: Head-On, Sweet Tooth's driver Needles Kane wishes to do this with Calypso, the man who runs the Twisted Metal tournament and has the power to grant wishes to the winner, as he was getting bored with competing in the tournament year after year. Calypso realizes what Needles is planning to do, but the nature of his powers compels him to grant the wish anyway. Needles' first order of business once he's in Calypso's body is to have Calypso-in-Needles'-body executed.
  • The ero game X-Change Alternative 2 centers on this trope, a departure from the series' usual theme. Ordinary high-school 2nd year Yuki Sakura is invited to watch a demonstration of his friend's new invention, an experimental teleporter device. Naturally, the machine fails (explosively) to transport matter but succeeds in swapping his mind into the body of one of his 4 female friends. The remainder of the game is spent dealing with various romance issues and hoping that the rebuilt teleporter will actually restore things to normal after spending two weeks as each other.
  • Consul M in Xenoblade Chronicles 3 uses her Body Surf powers to trip up the party, and she can make a full-on change if she so chooses. In truth, M is Good All Along and actually consensually swapped with Mio before the boss fight began, resulting in M dying in Mio's place during the Homecoming Ritual so Mio could save the rest of the Ouroboros at the critical moment. As M and Mio are physically identical anyway (save for M's longer hair), there's not really any confusion over appearance.
  • This is the basis of Mental Time Travel in the Zero Escape series. Certain people are born with the psychic power to SHIFT between timelines when they're in danger and going to die in one timeline, swapping their mind with a version of themselves that haven't yet gotten into that situation or (less likely) who have been in that situation but escaped it. The Zeroes are exploiting this and creating scenarios where it's impossible for everyone to escape without using Mental Time Travel to gather clues and information.
