Novoland (九州, Jiǔ Zhōu) is essentially the Chinese equivalent of Tolkien's Legendarium. As of 2021 it consists of over forty books by seven main authors (along with many other authors who aren't as famous), plus seven television series and two films based on one or more of the novels. All of them are set in the same universe: the titular Novoland, which is divided into the Eastern Land and the Eight Tribes. The stories span over 10,000 years divided into ten eras and sixteen dynasties.

The franchise began in the early 2000s, inspired by The Lord of the Rings. The characters "九州", meaning "Nine Provinces", originate from ancient Chinese history, where they referred to provinces during the Xia and Shang dynasties. (Incidentally, in Japanese those same characters — pronounced "Kyūshū" — are the name of Japan's third-largest island. Because of this Google Translate invariably renames the series "Kyushu Novels".)

Very few of the novels have been translated into English, and not all of them have official English titles. Most have no connection to each other beyond being set in the same Shared Universe.
