    Nino
  • Volume 7 has Fuutarou & his family watch a drama where the heroine confesses to the lead. The volume ends with Nino confessing to Fuutarou in a dramatic way.
  • Nino's conflicting crush on Fuutarou gets hinted at as early as chapter 17 where, during a nighttime study session takes a turn. The study session derails into becoming a quiz game on what Fuutarou’s ideal type of girl is and Nino takes a sudden interest despite trying to deny it.

    Yotsuba
  • Yotsuba is shown to have serious self-esteem issues. This is mainly thanks to her causing herself and her sisters to get expelled.
Yotsuba: People who break promises are the worst of the worst!
  • In Chapter 34, after Fuutarou finishes telling his story to Itsuki, there is a panel where it appears that the latter is smiling... but the face and hair isn't hers. It's an eavesdropping Yotsuba's.
  • When Yotsuba crosses paths with Fuutarou after "Rena" leaves, she doesn't ask him why he's soaking wet. It doesn't cross her subconscious mind to ask because she knows. Because she saw it happen.
    • Also, when Yotsuba meets Fuutarou at the river, if you notice the direction she came from and departed to after, it's the same. Why would she run the opposite direction of the other track team members only to do the reverse once she was caught?
  • During the last exam arc, Yotsuba tearfully says her efforts have never paid off before. Chapter 89 reveals why.
  • Early on, Miku reveals she has thrown away all clothes associated with their previous high school. When questioned on why they transferred, Miku and Ichika deflect answering while Yotsuba remains silent. It is revealed Yotsuba's failing grades forced her to flunk out of their old school, and the rest of her sisters chose to leave with her, leaving Yotsuba wracked with guilt.
  • Before the proper flashback to when the quints were in middle school, a speech bubble is placed right behind Yotsuba. This is done to hide her long hair.
  • In Chapter 37, she says, "I come to this park all the time. When I'm feeling down, I'll swing a little on the swing set." Guess what she does in Chapter 90?
  • With the way she always puts others first to the point of overwork, is it any wonder that she'd be the quint who collapsed?
  • In chapter 108, Yotsuba mentions that "This is the last time" before she kisses Fuutarou. It would be revealed that she has kissed him before: Under the bell while donning Itsuki's appearance.

    "Rena"'s true identity
The big reveal from that the Nakano Fuutarou met in his childhood was actually Yotsuba was given with quite a bit of foreshadowing, so much so that it's earned the series its own foreshadowing page.
  • In Chapter 1, Yotsuba knows Fuutarou's name and face already. She claims it's from him dropping his test, but notice the way she upfront goes right up to his face and enthusiastically calls out his name during their "first" meeting.
    • She also follows him around all day (including into the boy's lockerroom), as if she's hoping he will recognize her.
    • Later in the same chapter, Yotsuba says her first impression of him is "gloomy and probably doesn't have any friends." However, the key point here is that she doesn't say when she formed that impression. The description fits him in this chapter, but it also perfect describes him in their meeting when they were kids. He was moping and alone after running away from his group on the trip, gloomy and friendless.
    • Notice how on that scene, Yotsuba puts the conversation all on Fuutarou, completely leaving herself unmentioned, thus keeping the mystery on her.
  • Once he becomes their tutor, Yotsuba is the first sister to warm up to him. She says that initially she was worried the tutor would be scary, but is glad it's someone in her grade. However, he has not been nice to her at all yet; he wouldn't even say "thank you" in the first chapter. She only knows he's not actually mean because she remembers when they met as kids, and how he was a decent person under his prickly exterior.
  • In Chapter 3, while Fuutarou is mentally gauging the distance of their hearts between himself and the sisters, Yotsuba is the closest to him.
  • When Fuutarou is trying on the costume he's going to use to scare people, Yotsuba says that blonde hair suits Fuutarou. Of course she thinks that; she remembers when his hair used to be blonde.
  • In Chapter 21, Yotsuba tells Fuutarou she likes him—only for her to play it off as a joke. This is immediately after it's established that she can't tell a lie to save her life. Chapter 90 shows that she was not lying at all when she said that, as she has loved him since they met in Kyoto.
  • Look carefully at the photo of the sisters as kids, and of the photo of Fuutarou and the girl together; both times, she's making a distinctive peace sign with her right hand. When present-day Nino asks for a group photo in Chapter 80, while the other sisters use their left hand to pose, Yotsuba gives off the exact same peace sign with her right hand.
  • Childhood "Rena"'s behavior of stopping to help a lonely kid and refusing to leave him alone even when he pretends to be fine and even when she is lost and alone herself fits Yotsuba's personality perfectly; she is always trying to help people, even when it's to her own detriment.
  • When out on their date, Fuutarou thinks of "Rena" while looking at Yotsuba.
  • Look at the ribbon on "Rena"'s hat; it flops down when hanging over the edge, making it look very similar to Yotsuba's hair ribbon.
  • Yotsuba is the first of the sisters to change, not just during the story, but back when they were kids. She says so herself in Chapter 64. Young "Rena" states that she wishes to change, and hopes that Fuutarou can help her do it.
  • When the field trip comes up, Yotsuba dedicates herself to making sure Fuutarou enjoys himself on the trip. She spends every possible minute with him, and is always thinking about him. Why is it so important to her that Fuutarou enjoys this field trip? Well, she remembers how he was miserable and alone on the last field trip he went on when they met in Kyoto. She is ensuring that this time will be different.
  • Yotsuba talks about how Ichika stole her friend the day after she talked to him. The boy is later revealed to be Fuutarou.
  • In Chapter 82, Yotsuba suspects Itsuki is hiding something from her; this happens immediately after Itsuki tries to get a photo taken of herself and Fuutarou to trigger his memories of 5 years ago.
  • On the back covers of Volumes 5 and 6, which have Yotsuba and Itsuki on the front covers respectively, there is an image of "Rena". Volume 6's girl is wearing her hat and special clothing and all, but Volume 5's is simply "Lolikano" meeting a young Fuutarou.
  • The quintuplets were originally all voiced by Ayane Sakura in a short commercial for the manga. When the manga was adapted into an anime, Ayane Sakura returned to voice Yotsuba while the other sisters were recast.

    The Bride's true identity
The even bigger reveal that solves the mystery of the series in which Nakano Fuutarou marries is actually Yotsuba was also given with quite a bit of foreshadowing, so much so that it had gotten a person to write a 40 page long thesis on her becoming the winner—which has since been updated to 76 pages, by the way.
  • Fuutarou has two Idiot Hairs that stick right up; funnily enough, it also looks like Yotsuba's Expressive Accessory (a hair ribbon).
  • In the first chapter, the bride reminisces to Fuutarou, "That was when you met us, right Fuutarou? Ichika, Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, Itsuki. That was the time you realized we were quintuplets." The next chapter, Yotsuba introduces Fuutarou to their rooms in a similar matter, though in reverse order.
  • When Fuutarou sleeps over in the quints' apartment for the first time, he's seen playing a board game similar to Life with Miku, Yotsuba and Ichika. Yotsuba lands on the space that has her get married, and as per the rules of the game, ends up asking Fuutarou to hand her money.
  • During the Quintuplet Game and on the cover for Volume 10, Yotsuba uses her ring finger, which is where—you guessed it—wedding rings are worn.
  • In Chapter 8, during the festival, Raiha hugs Yotsuba and says that she really likes her. Yotsuba says that she wishes Raiha was her sister, and mentions aloud that they would be sisters if she married Fuutarou.
  • On the cover page for Chapter 15, Yotsuba is placed right in the center, with the silhouette of the bride directly behind her.
  • Doubles a Chekhov's Gag; in Chapter 20, while trying to answer the Japanese questions on an exam, Yotsuba figures that "The fourth option has the highest chance of being right in a question with five choices."
  • Notice how much connection Yotsuba has with flowers; she has a lot of them on her room and chose a famous gardens tour during an event. Hana in Japanese means 'flower', which could translate hanayome (bride).
  • Doubles as a Five-Second Foreshadowing; a character bio in one of the volumes states that Yotsuba's favorite drink is carbonated juice. In Chapter 113, Fuutarou is shown to order a can of juice from a vending machine; a few panels later, he arrives to the room where Yotsuba had left her phone in and says, "Sorry for the wait."
  • In Chapter 68, Fuutarou from the future mentions that the Bell Kiss was most likely the moment that made him start to see one of the quintuplets, his eventual bride, as "special". This term would be later be referenced on and applied to one character in Chapters 87 to 90. Which character was the focus of those chapters? Yotsuba.
  • Multiple times during the Final Festival arc, Fuutaro is apparently seen grabbing something on his pocket while deep in thought, some panels putting an odd focus on it while others even having speech bubbles/text boxes covering it: in chapter 113-114, it's revealed that this item was a Karaage coupon that Yotsuba had previously given him during the first day of the festival (Chapter 107). Fuutarou saved this coupon until the final day of the festival to exchange it for fresh Karaage so they would enjoy it together after going to her designated room.
  • If you look closely at the cover on Volume 13, the bride has a slight orange tint in her hair, in contrast to when her hair was a deeper red during the other flash-forwards. Guess which of the sisters has orange hair?
  • In the Scrambled Eggs arc, Fuutaro spends the trip trying to figure out how to tell each sister apart when they are all dressed like Itsuki, to the point of asking for advice from their grandfather who tells him the key to telling them apart is "love." Well every sister except for Yotsuba that is, who he was able to figure out in about ten seconds the first time he talked to her.

    Others
  • During the car ride to the school trip, the group plays the Quintuplet Game, where one person shows part of a finger and the rest have to guess which one it is, using the girls' names for the fingers (Ichika = thumb, Nino = index, Miku = middle, Yotsuba = ring, and Itsuki = pinky). When the girls all hold Fuutarou's hand while he's sick during the bonfire, each one is holding the finger that they were named after earlier.
  • During Itsuki's talk with Shimada, there is a flashback to the time where the latter was one of Rena's student, specifically her and a blonde boy who were among the delinquents in her class. That boy would later be revealed to be Isanari, Fuutarou's father.
  • During the Scrambled Eggs arc, the quintuplets' grandfather runs into Fuutarou and Miku (then disguised as Itsuki like the rest) in the hallway, and threatens Fuutarou once more after suspecting that he was about to put his hand on his granddaughter again since their initial unpleasant encounter on the night Fuutarou spoke to the Fake Itsuki. The keyword here being "again" is a subtle hint that the Fake Itsuki from back then is the same quintuplet they were currently with at the moment: Miku.
  • In Chapter 109, an old man named Mudou is seen talking to Itsuki while eating cotton candy that has been decorated with sugar stars; Itsuki is known to wear stars in her hair. Later, he is seen with yet another treat in his mouth (a lollipop). At the end of that very chapter, he reveals himself to be her biological father.
  • Fuutarou and Yotsuba go to the playground where they talked in Chapter 37 at the end of their first date, with Fuutarou noting that it's now a special place to him. Fuutarou says that if he can jump off the swing as far as Yotsuba, she has to let him admit his feelings for her. Earlier on, in Chapter 77, when Fuutarou and Yuusuke were at the same playground, Fuutarou jumps off the swing and Yuusuke comments that he's pretty good at it. Fuutarou notes to himself that it's still not enough.
