Urn is a British Short Horror Film by Ben Steiner. It was made as part of Hulu's Huluween Film Festival.

A woman is trying to spread her deceased mother's ashes at the lake they used to come to so often. She's able to do that no problem, but she just doesn't have it in her to go into the lake with her. However, mother isn't about to let her little girl walk away from spending eternity with her.

The film was released on October 1st, 2018.

Urn contains examples of:

  • Ambiguous Ending: It's not really clear WHAT happens exactly at the end. The woman is locked in her car by a supernatural force... her mother's blackened hands appear over her own... and then it cuts back to her back on the dock, before fading to her back in the car with her mom's hands over hers, and then it shows the surface of the lake. It could be that the mother possessed her daughter and made her commit suicide, but the constant cutting around keeps that from being one-hundred percent certain.
  • MacGuffin Title: The short is names after the urn containing the ashes of the woman's dead mother.
  • No Name Given: None of the characters in the film are referred to by name. They're even listed as "Daughter", "Mother", and "Burnt Mother" in the credits.
  • One-Word Title: Urn, naturally.
