The Prince is a 2014 action film starring Jason Patric, Bruce Willis, and John Cusack. The film follows Paul, an ex-hitman and a former New Orleans crime boss whose daughter is kidnapped by Omar, Paul's former rival who holds a grudge against Paul after he had accidentally killed Omar's wife and daughter while trying to assassinate Omar. To save his daughter, he teams up with Sam, an old friend.
This film provides examples of:
- Accidental Child-Killer Backstory: Paul is a former hitman who retired in disgrace after he attempted to kill New Orleans crime boss Omar via Car Bomb, only to accidentally blow up Omar's wife and daughter.
- Aerith and Bob: All the characters have mundane, forgetable (and mostly monosyllabic) names such as Paul, Beth, Mark and Sam, except for 50 Cent character, who is called The Pharmacy.
- Big Bad: Omar.
- Black-and-Grey Morality: It is established that Paul is a former notorious hitman who killed innocent people and his friend Sam is still a crime boss, so fundamentally they are no different from the movie's Big Bad, and their conflict is a case of Evil Versus Evil.
- The Cameo: 50 Cent as The Pharmacy.
- The Determinator: Paul will stop at nothing to rescue his daughter.
- The Dragon: Mark.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Omar wants revenge on Paul for killing his wife and daughter prior to the events of the movie.
- Storming the Castle: Paul attacks Omar's stronghold at the end of the movie.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: Sam doesn't show up after Paul tells him to hold off Omar's men, not even in the ending.
