The Dingles Down Under was a movie spin-off from Emmerdale, a British Series, that was produced in 1997.

- Awesome Aussie: Because it's set in Australia, this trope is used, but Played for Laughs.
- Breather Episode: There's a greater emphasis on levity and comedy than a typical Crapsack World episode of the show, and justified, as it aired in the final week of the year.
- Non-Serial Movie: Since it's a special episode, this includes things that would have been unlikely to happen in mainstream Emmerdale continuity. However, it is definitely non-canon to the rest of the series, and falls more into What If? territory. It is difficult to fit into canon as Emmerdale often makes a Continuity Nod, but the events of this movie never get a mention on the main series.
- Vacation Episode: Filmed on location in Australia, it follows the Dingle family on vacation.
