Secret Admirer in a 1985 romantic comedy co-written and directed by David Greenwalt (yes, that one) starring C. Thomas Howell as a high school student called Michael who fancies Dumb Blonde classmate Deborah Ann (Kelly Preston) and Michael finds a love note in his locker that his best friend Roger convinces him is from Deborah Ann. It isn't, it's from another classmate, Brainy Brunette Toni (Lori Loughlin). Michael writes Deborah Ann a love note of his own and asks Toni to put it in Deborah Ann's locker - she takes a look at the note and rewrites to make it more heartfelt and less greeting-cardsy. Things get complicated... you can probably guess who winds up together.Deborah Ann's mother finds the letter, and Deborah Ann's Crazy Jealous Guy of a father steals the letter and thinks his wife is cheating on him with the man who lives next door... who happens to be Michael's dad.
