Tropes for the film:

  • Alliterative Name:
    • Gary Gardner.
    • Stephanie Smith.
  • Awful British Sex Comedy: The film is adapted from a 1980s theatrical sex farce, with little attempt to update the story and setting to reflect changing societal mores in the intervening three decades.
  • Cameo Cluster: The movie is notable for having a lot of stars appear in cameos, including Rolf Harris as a busker, Bernard Cribbins as a hospital patient, and Judi Dench as a bag lady. The cameos are so numerous that they even served as the final roles for big-name actors Rona Anderson, Francis Matthews, Bill Pertwee, Donald Sinden, and Frank Thornton.
  • Tagline: "John loved having a wife so much, he got two of them".
