Keep Off My Grass! is a 1972note  stoner comedy written by Austin and Irma Kalish and directed by Shelley Berman.

A group of merchants led by Maury Sherman (Louis Quinn), fed up with the influx of hippies hurting their businesses, arranges for the hippies to move to a nearby Ghost Town so they can do their own thing and leave everyone else alone. With the help of a hippie-friendly doctor (Ed Kearney), the hippies rename the town Violets and settle in. Meanwhile, You Know (Micky Dolenz) pursues his goals of getting laid and becoming a pot magnate.

Keep Off My Grass contains examples of:

  • And Starring: And Marcus J. Grapes as Wolfman… also starring Micky Dolenz as You Know.
  • Bitch Slap: Redneck Horace Talbot (Herb Nelson) slaps his son Grady (Rick Hurst) and his daughter Rita (Christina Hart) when he finds out that Grady failed to keep Rita under control, and she now has the clap.
  • Broken Treasure: When Jerry (Gary Wood) leaves Suze (Susan Gebhardt) for Twila (Everett Addington), Suze gets revenge by lighting the giant candle shaped like a naked woman Jerry made.
  • Career Versus Woman: A Rare Male Example. Mr. Sherman's son David (Gerald McRaney) drops out of law school to follow Sandy (Denise DeFelice) to Violets.
  • Crying Wolf: You Know spends so much time lying about his sex life that when he gets laid for real, no one believes him.
  • Dating What Daddy Hates: Rita tries to seduce Doc and later has sex with You Know, because her family's disapproval makes hippies seem much sexier.
  • Have I Mentioned I Am Sexually Active Today?: You Know is constantly bragging about his incredibly active sex life so women won't think he's desperate. It doesn't work.
  • Hippie Van: The hippies drive to Violets in a variety of colorful vans.
  • Hypocritical Humor: The sandalmakers object to You Know's use of the phrase "got laid" for fear that it will scare off customers. One of them says, "A customer could be wanting to buy a pair of sandals, and he hears language like that, and he says 'What kind of fucking store is this anyway?' and he goes away!"
  • Modesty Bedsheet: Horace and Grady walk in on Jerry and Suze, who are naked in bed together. When they sit up, Suze clutches the blanket to her chest, while Jerry lets it drape around his waist.
  • "Not So Different" Remark: Mr. Sherman tells the hippies that when he was their age, he wanted to destroy the establishment just like they do. He says he understands them because he used to be like them. By the end of the movie, the hippies have become respectable businesspeople themselves.
  • Of Course I'm Not a Virgin: You Know frantically denies all accusations that he's a virgin.
Jessica: Go away. I have no patience with virgins.
You Know: Virgin! Jessica, I've told you a hundred times, I've had girls before.
Jessica: I have no patience with liars either.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: You Know's pot plant is actually an ordinary weed.
  • Tantrum Throwing: When You Know finds out his pot plant isn't real, he kicks down the small fence he built around it, rips the plant out of the ground and throws it down, and throws a piece of the fence to the side.
