K-911 is the direct-to-video 1999 sequel to the 1989 comedy/thriller K-9, starring James Belushi and Christine Tucci and directed by Charles T. Kanganis.

San Diego Police Detective Michael Dooley (Belushi) and his best friend/partner Jerry Lee are just going about their lives, only for Dooley to be targeted by an unknown gunman who wants to psychologically torment Dooley while using it to write a story.

However, Jerry Lee seems to be getting older, and Dooley finds himself possibly having to replace Jerry Lee with a younger dog. He also finds himself partnered up with Sergeant Welles (Tucci), someone he had a one-time fling with, and her own doberman partner Zeus. They must work together to find the gunman and bring him in before he decides to retire Dooley permanently.

It was followed by a 2002 direct-to-video sequel, K-9: P.I.

This movie provides examples of:

  • The Alleged Car: Dooley's car gets shot up by an assault rifle, and then gets hit with an RPG.
  • Feeling Their Age: Jerry Lee is getting older, and as such he is getting slower, tires more quickly, and otherwise acts like one expects of an older dog.
  • Stalker without a Crush: The Big Bad stalks and calls Dooley to torment him, though has no romantic feelings for him. His late wife, on the other hand...
